Graham Linehan on Jon Ronson's new book

My ex-friend Jon Ronson may be a case study in the corrupting toxicity of trans ideology. An interesting read.

His book chapter about me stands as an indictment of him and the cowardly social class of people who refuse to confront uncomfortable truths

Jon Ronson cares about:
book sales
book tours
his own standing in the liberal elite
appearing on podcasts
the truth

(in that order)

Jon Ronson does not care about:
women
his friends

What do you think of the trans activists losing their shirts every day at JK Rowling ? Death threats, rape threats, vile abuse…

I don't think being a dickhead online helps anyone and especially is not particularly effective in bringing anyone round to your point of view. Whatever the topic.

He has very much aligned himself with US conservatives in recent times, reposting things about "degenerates" etc. Perhaps it's unfair of me to assume a complete ideological shift, but he has radically changed his views on Trump, Gamergate, and migration/Islam, so who knows.

The US conservative's are the ones fighting back against the gender idiots, so it stands to reason Glinner who is also fighting against the batshittery will often say things that 'align' with the US conservatives position.

That doesn't mean he himself is now a US conservative and agrees with any of the other US conservative stands.
He's a man of principle, he doesn't wax and wane to suit, like those he's calling out as cowards.

No, it was after, and IIRC, during the incredibly long active legal proceedings.

Rivers was not a founder of Camp Trans; not even Graham is claiming that.

Graham's criticism is that Rivers, a key figure in Camp Trans, murdered Michfest attendees, and it's disgusting that Ronson didn't cover that.

There's no evidence to support claims that Rivers was an organiser of the event, a key figure, or even to confirm which years they attended.

The only evidence of their involvement in Camp Trans is a report of a 2000 demonstration featuring Rivers.

There's no evidence that supports the claim the victims ever attended camp trans.

I mean, if there is evidence to back up his claims, Graham should present it. Expecting Ronson to report a sequence of events the way Graham feels it should be reported, and to unearth evidence Graham suspects exists but is too lazy to dig up himself, is ludicrous.

Ronson knew “Karen” White was a double rapist, knew evil White was in a female prison and knew White tried to rape women in the prison. He disagreed with Linehan pointing out those facts with a photo of White.

Now, um, let me see, who’s the defender of rapists and who is the defender of women. Perhaps you could help me out on this tricky conundrum…

You are aware, I assume, of what 'NPC' means in terms of alt-right rhetoric.

I see Graham using this phrase a lot, and either he is entirely unaware of the wider semiotics there (which I find hard to believe for someone so very online and especially in gamer spaces) or he is comfortable with people making whatever assumptions they may choose to about someone using the term in 2026.

NB I haven't said whether I agree or disagree with Graham's views on this thread. And it is possible to agree with someone's views whilst also thinking they are detrimental to the cause.

Never heard of him but Linehan’s article on him in the Telegraphy was riveting reading. The comments all support Linehan. They are exceedingly complementary.

Yes, the comments are interesting. Quite good to see that Jon Ronson has drawn more attention to Linehan’s tenacity and immense self-sacrifice.

I never thought highly of Ronson, but initially it was only because he’s so self-satisfied. His cowardice and dishonesty on this issue really turned me against him. He’s done himself no favours with this spiteful attack on a man whose talent and character dwarfs his own. Graham Linehan isn’t perfect, who is? But he’s stood up for the rights of women
and children when others wouldn’t.

This is all utterly ludicrious. He moved to the UK because of the threats and constant harassment in the UK. Mainly from people who self ID as 'On The Left'.

I can bet that anyone who even flies to the USA has engaged with 10 'conservatives' before you leave the airport.

The near 1000 positive comments to Linehan’s article begs to differ. Could you post up a “dickhead” comment from Graham that you disagree with, so we are clear what you’re referring to?

By the way Trump partly won, because he was able to mock Kamala Harris over her They/Thems …. So we have the indignity of Trump because of pandering to trans nonsense, and pretending we all don’t know a man can’t be a woman.

He was involved in Repeal The Eighth, though given his alignment with more conservative views these days he may have changed his views regarding abortion.

He does spend an awful lot of time having a go at women for not agreeing with him on social media, though, which doesn't seem especially positive.

he may have changed his views regarding abortion

You could have used pretty much probably, like another speculative poster.

I've see the term NPC used on this site, generally by poster who are claiming that is what women are being reduced to in reality because they right's have been taken off them in favour of pandering to the men's right movement.
I might consider using to describe how females have become nothing more that a footnote in their own cause, feminism.
It's a term that came from the gamer world but has escaped out into the wild and used often outside a 'gamer' context.
The fact that Glinner is using it could just show how much a part of the cultural lexicon it has become.
Just because those on the 'altright', whatever that is, use it doesn't mean that everyone who uses it is 'altright'. None of the posts where it has been used on these threads gave me the impression they were coming from 'altright' posters.

Graham is a gamer, incidently. If 'playing various video games' makes you a 'gamer'.

cor, there's a whole lot of bananarama going on here

'he used a term some people all right thinkers disagree with also use. you know what that means, don't you? don't you?'

actually I don't. why don't you just actually say what you mean?

PencilsInSpace · 30/08/2026 12:00

PerkyBlueZebra · 30/08/2026 10:41

Is it?

There's no documented link between Dansky's murders and camp trans, no evidence she met her victims there or that they even attended.

In the court case, the prosecutors never mentioned Michfest and said the motive was to do with gang-related issues.

That's what Jon put in the notes section for the chapter and is also the identical position Kara Dansky now takes post-trial.

Ronson wrote a piece about camp trans.

Decades later, one of the organisers of camp trans committed a heinous murder.

Graham claims that the victims were Michfest regulars. There is zero evidence they ever attended.

'Kara Dansky'?

Hmm

Well, you can look at the Wikipedia page on it for a start. Internet is good for helping you look up terms you don't know. This board alone is full of shibboleths that are meaningless to those not already entrenched in GC discussion.

But if you're going to be disingenuous and pretend that something that's been widely discussed enough to have academic papers written about it as a sociolinguistic phenomenon being mentioned but not spelt out for you is some form of sly "TRA rhetoric", then my time is probably better spent pairing my clean socks.

yep. got all that.

Wikipedia as a reliable source of information. 😂😂

YouHaveAnArse · 30/08/2026 12:18

Maybe spend five minutes reading the paper I linked to and you might get why certain assumptions might be made about the views someone using it.

Again, anyone even slightly online who says they aren't aware that there are certain phrases, especially used on X, that are massive dog-whistles is either not that observant or being massively disingenuous. If it's the former, you might want to realise that all those accounts called xxStopTheBoats1488xx might be being a little bit sarcastic when they talk about "cultural enrichment" or "religion of peace", y'know?

Also, if you know where my other sock with raccoons on it is, please do tell.

But first, it's worth agreeing that Graham's view of River's and their victims' link to camp trans is unsubstantiated by any evidence and is not even a view shared by the gender critical journalists who covered the case.
