Graham Linehan on Jon Ronson's new book

My ex-friend Jon Ronson may be a case study in the corrupting toxicity of trans ideology. An interesting read.

His book chapter about me stands as an indictment of him and the cowardly social class of people who refuse to confront uncomfortable truths

So basically, abortion laws, which pretty much was probably led by his wife. Tells me everything I need to know. Won the argument, so thanks all!

How do you know if a child is in the 'minority of trans childrens' puberty blockers are suited for? And when is giving puberty blockers, that are not safe, have dangerous side effects and are given 4-6 times longer than for the max time for precocious puberty, the wrong solution, how can you ever know?

PB are nasty, they stop children learning to accept their bodies and they make gender dysphoria worse as the children are stunted in their growth whilst their peers of both sexes mature. They should be banned everywhere except when there is a physical medical reason to give them. Puberty is not an illness.

100%, and I'm really concerned about the brain growth that does not occur while a child development is stunted because of puberty blockers. They are actually growth blockers. Adolescents go through all kinds of psychological development, for example, the ability to develop and make decisions based on their own sense of right and wrong develops in adolescence, as opposed to relying on external ideas. If a child's psychological development is stunted at 10 or 12, and their peers go ahead without them, how do they catch up? And of course they feel excluded. It just makes no sense to do this and then argue that they are not accepted, they remain childlike so will always feel different. Its criminal actually.

i think those 2 ooooh what about the mitchfest posters are on mission derail.....

Totally. Psycho TIM is infuriated by exclusion from lesbian festival. Sets up campaign.

Kills two lesbians and their son in frenzied attack described by the judge as "the most depraved crime that I’ve handled in the criminal justice field in 33 years."

But, but they're not linked !!

Never heard of him but Linehan’s article on him in the Telegraphy was riveting reading. The comments all support Linehan. They are exceedingly complementary.

The consolation I take from this is that Ronson cannot in future pretend that he didn't take the position he took. It's not like deleting tweets: he has published a chapter in a book setting his stance on the record. I think when this is all over, as it surely will be, and when people look back in horror, as they surely will, people like Ronson will be remembered as the cowards they are.

Are you never embarrassed by how transparently pathetic your so called arguments are? 😆😆😆

no they led it together and bluntly as he was the famous one, that was how the campaign got more coverage

do you really think you help your cause with such witless behaviours ?

Is it?

There's no documented link between Dansky's murders and camp trans, no evidence she met her victims there or that they even attended.

In the court case, the prosecutors never mentioned Michfest and said the motive was to do with gang-related issues.

That's what Jon put in the notes section for the chapter and is also the identical position Kara Dansky now takes post-trial.

Ronson wrote a piece about camp trans.

Decades later, one of the organisers of camp trans committed a heinous murder.

Graham claims that the victims were Michfest regulars. There is zero evidence they ever attended.

I dunno, call me naive, but I think the fact that a man who spent years trying to force his presence on non consenting lesbians then went on to murder two lesbians is at least interesting, and I would venture to say relevant to a piece about how much said man would like to spend time with lesbians, regardless of the activities of the women he murdered.

Slagging off Graham from a distance has become one of his crutches.

I liked when he went on the Fifth Column podcast where he and the hosts spent an hour and a half berating Graham and laughing at how mad and crazy and nuts he is.

Then after Trump won, the Fifth Column did a podcast where they finally confronted the trans issue and well I never, turns out they all agree with Graham's beliefs pretty much 100%. Then went back to never mentioning it again.

Pathetic cowards all of them.

Has it, though? Graham @s him on Twitter near daily to have a go at him. Regardless of how betrayed he might feel, it's undignified and gives rise to the view that his concern is less about how trans issues affect women and girls and more about being proved right.

His wife was English, Graham is Irish, because he was very famous at the time he used that to campaign with her. If she’d been married to someone else it wouldn’t have worked. But you do you. Because clearly you were not looking for the truth. You got what you asked first, and are now twisting it.

There is no evidence that the two murdered women had been to Michfest, let alone were regulars there. Jon Ronson may not have known about these murders, or he may have looked into them and realised that it had very little if anything to do with Michfest.

People are trying to create a story that a transwoman murdered two attendees of Michfest, because they were attendees of Michfest. A transwoman angry with biological/cis women because he/she had been denied entry to a women's only space. The reality is that the murderer knew the murdered women as friends, and the dispute was about a motorcycle club that they were all part of.

There is some doubt about whether or not Charlotte Reed and Patricia Wright RIP were 'regulars' at Michfest, and whether or not Dana Rivers linked them in his mind to his exclusion from that women-only event.

He may have used the motorcycle club they belonged to as a way to hunt down his prey,

The fact remains that they, and their teenage son, were brutally murdered - Reed was stabbed nearly 50 times - and the man who killed them is serving out his life sentence in a women's prison.

Jon Ronson may not have known about these murders, or he may have looked into them and realised that it had very little if anything to do with Michfest.
It would be surprising for somebody with Ronson's interests to NOT be aware of these murders, and that a trans-IDing man had killed a lesbian couple and their son, and that he was tried, and imprisoned as a woman.

The alleged Michfest connection was just one strand of this example of male violence against women, it didn't define it.

Does anyone know what sort of causes for women’s rights Graham fights for outside the trans debate?

He was involved in Repeal The Eighth, though given his alignment with more conservative views these days he may have changed his views regarding abortion.

He does spend an awful lot of time having a go at women for not agreeing with him on social media, though, which doesn't seem especially positive.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 30/08/2026 11:19

He's allowed to have a go at women who disagree with him for goodness sake!

I know I have a go at women on here who disagree with me

what is this mad idea that somehow he should be nice and polite and dignified about all of this??

MarcTheGenderSkeptic · 30/08/2026 11:21

Just read the article, just hits the mark so well. Ronson and his ilk continue to practice plausible deniability as the toxicity of this period curdles now, but the worst thing is this group's lack of basic humanity. They were genuinely ok for untold numbers of their peers to be hung out to dry, lose everything.
And not even for a genuine belief, but for a herd mentality.
It meant more for Ronson to be at the heart of the "in-crowd" than to reflect on what that in-crowd believed in, proposed happen, and it's damning power over individuals.

PerkyBlueZebra · 30/08/2026 11:23

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 30/08/2026 10:56

So to be clear, you're saying that the piece that Glinner is referring to was written by Ronson years before the founder of camp trans committed the sicken slaughter of a family of 3.
So Glinner criticising Ronson for not mentioning it is unfair because at the time Ronson wrote the piece the psychotic man hadn't slaughtered anyone yet.

No, it was after, and IIRC, during the incredibly long active legal proceedings.

Rivers was not a founder of Camp Trans; not even Graham is claiming that.

Graham's criticism is that Rivers, a key figure in Camp Trans, murdered Michfest attendees, and it's disgusting that Ronson didn't cover that.

There's no evidence to support claims that Rivers was an organiser of the event, a key figure, or even to confirm which years they attended.

The only evidence of their involvement in Camp Trans is a report of a 2000 demonstration featuring Rivers.

There's no evidence that supports the claim the victims ever attended camp trans.

I mean, if there is evidence to back up his claims, Graham should present it. Expecting Ronson to report a sequence of events the way Graham feels it should be reported, and to unearth evidence Graham suspects exists but is too lazy to dig up himself, is ludicrous.

I spend a lot of time on here having a go at women who don't agree with me, all of the handmaidens, the omnicause 'feminist's, the Pro Pally's etc. Having a go at women doesn't in itself make you a misogynist, not if the women you're having a go at are talking a load of bollocks.

I mean in the sense that it doesn't do the GC cause any favours to have one of the most prominent voices in it spending ten hours a day on Twitter publically shitting his pants. This is how the "you're all cranks obsessed with genitals" views are born.

Goodness me the amount of made up stuff on here. Did you ever wonder why his satire on the Irish Catholic Church was so successful, why it wasn’t something that could be produced in Ireland, and why its main actor - the late, brave, and brilliant Dermot Morgan was hired for the role and got in so much trouble in Ireland and was forever at risk of no employment. RTE (=BBC) were particularly egregious. They are also still cowards.

Men of Linehan’s vintage knows exactly the price Irish women had to pay for Irish conservative views, and why that makes him an advocate for women and children.

He has very much aligned himself with US conservatives in recent times, reposting things about "degenerates" etc. Perhaps it's unfair of me to assume a complete ideological shift, but he has radically changed his views on Trump, Gamergate, and migration/Islam, so who knows.

Ronson has argued in his book that the friendship became strained because Linehan was consumed with anger over the transgender debate, and lost all “polite, mannered civility” as he campaigned against gender ideology online.

What an indictment. Even using the concept of 'loss of manners' is so telling.

It's the bloody Bananarama argument again. It's not what he said, it's the way he said it.

From those two articles Ronson was blaming Linehan for his own reaction and allowing only that to negate his argument! Never mind the rapist attacking incarcerated women, or the psychopath killing Mitchfest lesbians. He's wringing his bloody hands over Graham's rage.

No one will fail to understand how numerous people do not want to put their head above the parapet for fear of their career, friends, status.

But this is different. This is blaming somebody else for doing exactly that. And getting all fucking prissy about it because it was messy for Linehan.

edited ad, I'm wondering why I'm finding it so infuriating.

I think because there's a massive element of Jesus wept man, you lost everything for the sake of women's rights, what the fuck is wrong with you??

it's barely concealed. In fact, I'm pretty certainly he doesn't even notice how that runs through it like a stick of rock.

Edited

This. Now you’ve said it I cannot unsee it. Of course - how would a man possibly understand another effectively blowing up their life for women’s rights?
