Polycule falls apart

I expect people remember that Heather Herbert (charged in relation to social media comments he made after Ann Widdecombe's death) is in a polycule with Sophie Molly (aka Sparkles, aka Euan Weddell) and someone called Poppybear.

Molly, I believe, is a witness for Jolyon Maugham in Sarah Phillimore's libel case against Maugham.

Poppybear has been posting some very indiscreet posts on BlueSky about both Molly and Herbert, and it looks, tragically, as if the polycule has fallen apart.

According to Poppybear, Herbert's comments about Widdecombe "painted a bullseye on all of us", and led to the police coming in and "invading" all their devices (whatever that means).

Also according to Poppybear, living with Sophie Molly is "like being permanently slapped around the face by pathological laziness unless it's something that grooms her ego."

In a separate development, apparently Herbert has had his toxic kidney removed by the NHS so the money donated to the fundraiser is going to be used for something else:

His sister died at 20 from an eating disorder. A lot of people would fall apart in those circumstances. What you'd hope is that the NHS and others responding to that would offer talking therapy, appropriate medication etc to deal with the grief and loss, not to affirm a delusion.

That is very sad. And he was clearly severely let down in terms of therapy for that, so I do have a lot of sympathy there. I wonder if he is trying to live the life he thought she should have had. Given that background, he really does need some help.

This is just it, I do feel genuinely sorry for people who’ve suffered some sort of trauma and this is their way of dealing with it.

However, that compassion doesn’t get reciprocated to women who say “no” to sharing their spaces, who don’t want men dressing as caricatures of them, or who want to protect their sports etc. That’s met with posing with guns, accusations of bigotry and fuck knows what else, and that’s where my pity runs out. These three are the absolute epitome of that.

So I’ll be enjoying my popcorn for The Imploding Polycule (sweet and salty combined, the best sort) 🍿

It's possible to feel sorry for many people caught up in this. That's part of being human and in touch with natural instincts (and also female socialisation). But that has been weaponised against us. It has been used to corral society at large - much of which went along with it without too much critical thought - into indulging and enabling people who should not have been given power to influence, make and change language, laws, and social mores to the detriment of millions of women and children. Some of the architects are dangerous men. Some of the foot soldiers are vulnerable people who are being manipulated and used. Our normal human reaction of sympathy needs to separated out from the fact that this needs to be ended, even though it causes damage to some.

I think there's a lot to be answered for here and not just by the individuals concerned.

There are quite clearly a lot of failures from people in authority within the NHs and whoever thought it was a good idea in the first place to select as candidates and then those who have not taken appropriate actions sooner.

It's clear a lot of help is needed here. And not with transitioning nor acceptance of identity.

That's what's sad. It should never have got to this point.

I should add, that none of this is the responsibility to enable by women who are just 'wanting to pee' for want of a better phrase.
