Do we have a thread for the DC Rachel Fletcher misconduct hearing?

I've had a search and I can't find one. She's the chair of Police SEEN, and is up for gross misconduct, for making the following comments in the police station where she was based:

  1. all men should be on a curfew
  2. see, that wouldn’t have happened if men were on a curfew (in response to a reported rape)
  3. all men are rapists
  4. I hate men
  5. trans women are all cocks in frocks.

Fund raiser target raised to 26k and there is a mention that they hope it will get to 30k. It's at 24,492 now and still rising.

Thank you for posting this.

It was great to hear Rachel explain the situation in her own words. Gobsmacking just about covers it.

BTW, for those not on X, it's on YouTube as part of yesterday's GB News program from around 1 hr 6 mins.

Afterwards, they also briefly mention the two NBA players who want to join the WNBA. Really stark/laughter inducing to see this 6' 8" bloke saying it aloud.

FarriersGirl · 10/08/2026 10:01

Thanks for the video. Rachel comes across so clearly. I have a family member in another force who was doing a very similar job until quite recently and so I know how tough it is. It is also a role that many police officers say they could not do because of the heavy emotional toll. Off to do some gardening!

Walkden · 10/08/2026 10:15

The video implies Rachel was sacked solely for your "GC comments", "cocks in frocks" but was that the sole reason for your dismissal. On the face of it it seemed many clearly misandrist comments were made.

I'm sure she has supported male victims of crime but I doubt women would be comforted or want to deal with a serving officer who expressed egregious misogynist views then excused it because they had treated women compassionately...

This should be a link to the YouTube of Free Speech Nation

Hopefully it'll start at the right place. If not, it begins at 1 hrs 7 minutes.

This is the force that sent officers to Pride, in uniform, and had to be reminded of their responsibilities in court. The chief constable drew up the unlawful search policy. I dont doubt Rachel was targeted because she was involved in SEEN, . police misconduct proceedings are rarely used against misogynists and then normally only when it's come to public knowledge. It was foolish to provide ammunition but the "all men are rapists" comment was one person's word against another. The other comments 1) all men should be on a curfew
2) see, that wouldn’t have happened if men were on a curfew
(in response to a reported rape)
4) I hate men

were all in the context of male sexual offending. Male police officers making misogynist comments are not doing so for similar reasons.

We dont know all the background, in particular what previous warnings there may have been. I dislike not being told the whole story but Rachel ought to be claiming sex discrimination.

Anyway I've gardened and the fund is now at 25,276. I hope it will go further as she's a single parent with two young children.

Do you consider the statement "all rapists are men" to be misandrist?

KittyCorncrake · 10/08/2026 11:35

Fab username OP😂😂😂

Walkden · 10/08/2026 12:36

*Do you consider the statement "all rapists are men" to be misandrist?"

I understand this is disputed by the hearing found the phrase used was "all men are rapists" leading to questions whether this would be said to her father brother etc.

I would certainly think a colleague was a misandrist if she expressed that men should be subject to a curfew. Do you believe this comment should be protected under gc beliefs ?

"I would certainly not think a colleague was a misandrist if she joked that men should be subject to a curfew."

I would hope you would not be so dismissive if a man "joked" that women should be confined to the kitchen.

The hearing certainly wasn't.

JudeyJudey · 10/08/2026 12:57

Not this again!

Rachel insists that she said "all rapist are men" and not "all men are rapists"

The curfew comment is nothing to do with GC beliefs.

Her involvement in SEEN is protected though and its that involvement that has caused the witchhunt

Walkden · 10/08/2026 13:03

"Rachel insists that she said "all rapist are men" and not "all men are rapists""

I acknowledged this is in dispute and the hearing did not believe this.....

Heggettypeg · 10/08/2026 13:04

"Women confined to the kitchen" is a thing that has happened and continues to happen around the world, in the sense of women being excluded from paid employment and involvement in public life. Anyone advocating for this is invoking a real threat.

"Men under a curfew" is a feminist thought experiment challenging the prevailing attitude that male violence is just "there", like the weather or an act of God, and that society can sit back and expect women to contort and narrow their lives in order to avoid it, and then blame them for failing to escape it. The "curfew" suggestion says, hey, think about this a bit and face the fact that the problem is not women's behaviour, but men's.

Suggesting that the two are comparable is disingenuous.

anyolddinosaur · 10/08/2026 13:07

I wouldnt consider someone a misandrist for suggesting a curfew for men when talking about women being advised to stay off the streets, travel in pairs etc if they go out at night. It's away of countering the misogynist idea that women are "asking for it" if they are raped when out alone after dark. Do you consider it misogynist, @Walkden when those suggestions are made - as they often are, and publicly, by senior police. Are women not allowed to counter misogynist remarks.

"all men are rapists" I would consider misandrist, all rapists are men is not. This was one person's word against another. I consider it an unlikely comment for anyone to make and certainly would have been remarked on by anyone within hearing. But in a presumably busy police station apparently no-one else heard it. That leaves me to believe it was "all rapists are men", a comment that those hearing it would generally not have registered.

Newcastle police force has sacked a few officers for sexually inappropriate behaviour but not recently for misogynist comments. Can anyone access misconduct999.com/ and see if they ever have? I strongly suspect the answer is never.

My comment listing the sexual offenders in that police force apparently need to be checked by mumsnet. I'll complain if it doesnt reappear.

lcakethereforeIam · 10/08/2026 13:17

A better comparison to 'all men should be under a curfew' would be 'women should be careful what they do if they go out'.

Walkden · 10/08/2026 13:50

"Men under a curfew" is a feminist thought experiment"

You can justify all sorts of prejudicial and discriminatory comments under the guise of a "thought experiment".

Ultimately it was decided that discriminatory comments were made towards men and transwomen

We will wait and see what the appeal/ ET decides.

anyolddinosaur · 10/08/2026 13:57

now my post is back @Walkden I'd like answers.

Datun · 10/08/2026 14:28

According to AI, although the number of men who rape or sexually assault might be low, considerably lower than the number of victims, the number of men who hold sexist or misogynistic views are apparently 90%.

Can we all agree, in that case, that it's perfectly legitimate for women to go around saying well 90% of men are sexist pigs.

FarriersGirl · 10/08/2026 14:48

If my former workplaces has disciplined every man who made a misogynist comment there would have been a near constant round of disciplinary hearings, but of course they did not.

anyolddinosaur · 10/08/2026 15:12

I'd hope we would all agree that a force that has had to fire several officers for sexually inappropriate behaviour is also likely to have officers making misogynist remarks.

Funny how suggesting men should stay off the streets at night is "prejudicial and discriminatory" but suggesting women do the same (as they have been advised to, many many times) is not .
