The reliably foolish Good Law Project have commissioned a new outdoor campaign, coming to a street near you.

Of course I support trans – I’m not a monster - Monster

Trans people should be able to live their lives in peace.

If you have stairs, the inside out method works well - chuck it over the bannister and use the drop of the stairs to shake it out. Easier than trying to flap it over a bed.

If I'm going to tangle my own feet and blindfold myself in a giant duvet cover, it's probably safer to do it over a bed than a ten-foot drop.

Pure genius! Thank you.

peg the corners as well to stop them slipping back

CriticalCondition · 15/07/2026 19:53

I've seen some 'forrin' duvet covers on holiday (France, Switzerland?) with slits in the side seams at the top end so you can put your hand in and pull the duvet into the corner. Not that I was changing them myself on holiday so I have no actual experience. But it seemed like a good idea and I keep meaning to unpick a few inches of the seams on one of mine to try it out.

I forgot the essential first step!

First, shut the door to keep out cats, small children and passing husbands. They will want to help, and this always means that any task takes about three times as long. (And in the case of husbands also involves discussion about why his way of doing whatever it may be is The Best.)

This is it! I do let the dog in though because he lies there lazily looking at me as if to ask “what the hell is wrong with her?” or “I would love to be can’t be arsed”.

DH is definitely forbidden access for the reason you state. God, he can’t even fold a sheet.

The great inside out method, will be passed down on DGC when their arms are long enough.

Oooh! I like that! Shame though, I just
don’t have that kind of bannister.

Apparently, The Fox Basher has deleted his BlueSky account, saw it mentioned on another thread.

Oh, and I can do the duvet trick as well, but only up to double size. And I Do Not Iron Sheets.

Haha I thought he only just left twitter for blue sky?

Ah well, there is an 86m quilt to snuggle up in, if he feels sad 😢

IKEA covers were like this in the 90s when they first opened here. They were great!

Now I'm imagining Jolyon wrapped up in it and being unrolled from it during Pride, like Cleopatra.

Idiots - they walk among us.

More people voted for it to be compulsory for children to wear gloves when ice skating though, so it puts it in context.

(Only if you will insist on arguing. DW just says "yes dear" and does it her way.)

Stairs are also good for straightening out sheets from the washing machine before hanging them, and for folding.

Anyone think the timing, alongside the Amnesty shitshow suggests collusion? Amnesty says they are evil. We say they are monsters. We are right. We win.

I particularly liked the Twitter response that said "Of course I support single-sex spaces for women - I'm not a predator!"

So, I hear there's some billboard space just becoming available.

A wolf, an eagle, or a tiger plus that text?

Oh! I was taught an easy way to do that, which I shall share whether you are interested or not.

Turn the duvet cover inside-out, and put your arms into it down to the two far corners from the opening.
Take hold of two of the corners of the quilt (ones that are the right distance apart to match the corners of the cover that you are holding) through the cover, so that you are holding both inside-out cover corners and the corners of the quilt.
Slowly ease the cover over the quilt, turning it right way out as you go and keeping a good grip on the corners.
When the cover is more or less over all the quilt, let go of the corners you were holding, take the two corners by the opening by both the cover and the quilt, and shake it to get it all matching.
Do up the poppers or buttons or zip of the cover.
Done.
Takes me a lot less time than other methods used to.

Since my friend told me this (she got it off a television show about families doing household tasks, I think) I have never ended up head-first inside a duvet cover trying to find two corners inside a welter of cloth. It was a game-changer!

I do this too, and invaginate the quilt cover as you remove it. Then fasten a couple of buttons or it will have eaten two pillow cases and one and a half pairs of tiny socks.
I'm dying to see this monstrous and probably poorly executed quilt. I remember Fathers 4 Justice bought a double decker bus as their batlle-wagon but the men couldn't work together well enough to agree on a colour to paint it.
Sad times..

I have only attempted the big duvet once with Dh. It got tense.

I said the way to do it was how I do this with the kids, I inside-out the cover and they get inside the cover and out stretch out their arms whilst I give them the end corners. He duly did. The problem being I started laughing so much when he couldn’t grab the inner duvet corners from me (the next stage). He got irritated and started waving his arms and I made a comment about holding still and not being Casper the angry ghost. He then decided his way was better but couldn’t find his way out. By this time I had to sit down I was laughing so much.

The next stage should have been for me to lift one side of the duvet cover over the back of his head whilst he’s still holding the corners of duvet cover and duvet. The kids always love doing this, pretending to be ghosts. Admittedly this always works much better with singles. And those who like pretending to be ghosts.

Wonderful! Made me laugh so much I’m going to have to try it, though DP might be slightly suspicious at the request….

After decades of struggle with these labyrinthine textile bed accessories I have found the perfect solution. Two single duvets. It was a very difficult change to make as I had to fight against my inner perfectionist. I felt it would be extremely aesthetically unpleasing. But it's actually not! When balanced against the ease of bed changing nowadays it's definitely worth it to me. I mean who else is going to see it on a regular basis? And the only visitors who 'have' seen it have proclaimed it to be "A very good idea!" Dh can do it all by himself now.
