The reliably foolish Good Law Project have commissioned a new outdoor campaign, coming to a street near you.

Of course I support trans – I’m not a monster - Monster

Trans people should be able to live their lives in peace.

Having read through this thread, many people have made it abundantly clear why posters like the one in question are needed.

There is another way to put a duvet cover on that’s like a magic trick. I think I read about it on Mumsnet and it blew my mind.
You put the duvet cover flat on the bed, put the duvet flat on top, roll it up, do some clever manoeuvre and then unroll it and it’s done. It is definitely easier with 2 people though.

They aren’t needed though, are they? That’s why Jolyon and his merry band have cancelled the campaign.

Very confusing posters are needed to mess with the logical understanding of clear-minded people?

Huh. I suppose that makes some kind of sense as a campaign.

Idiots - they walk among us.

More people voted for it to be compulsory for children to wear gloves when ice skating though, so it puts it in context.

I initially thought that this was a good rather off the wall joke but it's actually true. A lot more voted for this petition too. 28,149 vs 20,000 who wanted their MP to support men in dresses using the Ladies

I second this. The only thing that works for a superking.

Someone posted about this gloves petition on another thread when a poster had claimed huge support for some vague trans rights are human rights petition - it stuck with me as it puts the actual level of support for men in dresses into context.

Because we all needed a bit of cheering up with some cheeky pictures of gorillas and sharks. 😊

Cheeky yes, but also particularly - how shall I put it? - evocative pictures of large creatures incongruously wearing highly stereotyped flouncy and frilly 'feminine' dresses, and carrying parasols.
I wonder where that image came from..Hmm

They can’t get away from parodying women can they.

Could we have a poster campaign next to explain to us why "I don't have the same opinions as you" and "I get to decide where my personal boundaries are when it comes to who I share space with when vulnerable" are classified as "hate" because that's the bit that causes the most confusion and difficulty.

I've seen some 'forrin' duvet covers on holiday (France, Switzerland?) with slits in the side seams at the top end so you can put your hand in and pull the duvet into the corner. Not that I was changing them myself on holiday so I have no actual experience. But it seemed like a good idea and I keep meaning to unpick a few inches of the seams on one of mine to try it out.

You can buy those here (and a lot of hotel bedding has that).

I can change my super king myself and refresh it due to those gaps.

TWETMIRF · 16/07/2026 11:13

I also do the rolling method for my superking. Much easier and can be done on my own

lcakethereforeIam · 16/07/2026 11:30

I've started washing my duvet covers buttoned up after my new machine made them not only eat the rest of the wash but also tightly knotted them. Somehow a pillow case still managed to get swallowed!

I have only attempted the big duvet once with Dh. It got tense

After decades of struggle with these labyrinthine textile bed accessories I have found the perfect solution. Two single duvets. It was a very difficult change to make as I had to fight against my inner perfectionist. I felt it would be extremely aesthetically unpleasing. But it's actually not! When balanced against the ease of bed changing nowadays it's definitely worth it to me. I mean who else is going to see it on a regular basis? And the only visitors who 'have' seen it have proclaimed it to be "A very good idea!" Dh can do it all by himself now.

My ex and I always had two single duvets on the king-size bed because neither of us was then going to pinch all the duvet during the night.

Mr Magpie has an uncanny ability to hog 75% of the duvet by drawing his bottom corner up to the top while also keeping hold of his top corner, and then taking my bottom corner too, because his feet are cold. Two single duvets is my plan for when I need to replace the current one. In the meantime I just sit up and rearrange the whole thing, and if I wake him up in the process then that's only fair considering he woke me up because I was cold.

It has the advantage that if one of you gets cold more easily than the other, you can each have a different tog duvet. And since we were not expecting Ideal Homes round to photograph our bed, we unashamedly had different covers on them so we could easily tell them apart.

I think we may have to shift to that. Dp, who needs something over him to sleep and runs cold, is currently sleeping under his half, while I'm sleeping on top of my half! Separate of different togs may well be the way to go.

The burrito method! Tried, failed and ended up with a giant tangled burrito that was extremely difficult to separate (and impossible to eat!).

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 16/07/2026 13:27

Oh, that's like when you dream you are trying to eat an enormous, rather chewy marshmallow and wake up to find you are chomping your pillow.

lcakethereforeIam · 16/07/2026 13:37

That's a Mary Poppin's joke. Wake up feeling down in the mouth <attempts bad cockney accent. Still does better than Dick van Dyke>
