The reliably foolish Good Law Project have commissioned a new outdoor campaign, coming to a street near you.

Of course I support trans – I’m not a monster - Monster

Trans people should be able to live their lives in peace.

Seersucker duvet covers are the answer to the ironing issue. I haven't ironed one for years. Needs a nice smooth underside though or it feels a bit worthy, touch of the medieval penance and all that.

Yes!

Hands up, I have never ironed bed linen. Good shake, hang it out to dry tidily, and store it carefully folded. Obviates all need to iron.

I forgot the essential first step!

First, shut the door to keep out cats, small children and passing husbands. They will want to help, and this always means that any task takes about three times as long. (And in the case of husbands also involves discussion about why his way of doing whatever it may be is The Best.)

The husband in question reminds me that he advocates The Mog Clip (TM), but (as he knows perfectly well), the Ethics Committee has vetoed those.

It also vetoed his brilliant idea of fixing drones to the cat's feet so she could chase pigeons more effectively.

Oh, that's a good idea. I love seersucker, and wouldn't mind it not having a smooth underside (Matron).

Me either. Life is too short.

Ironing? Who mentioned anything about ironing a duvet cover? Or am I failing to woman properly again?

I have tried the inside out/line up the corners/turn it the right way out again but it still ends up in a wrestling match because it invariably ends up stuck somewhere. Much as I love my super king size duvet, I didn't think the logistics through when I bought it Hmm

The inside out method is only easy if the width of the duvet is not too much bigger than the span of your outstretched arms. Otherwise you can't shake it into place while holding the corners relatively taut. I can scrunch the corners and shake a double duvet out, but a king size is too much.

Shedmistress · Today 17:12

It is too hot here for quilts, not used one for 2 months. but I have visitors coming tomorrow and am having to put a super king quilt cover on one this evening. ùi do it the way as described above but my OH doesn't quite get it and my arms are not long enough to do it on my own.

Deep joy awaits.

They will all have seperate quilt covers sans quilt that they can use as well. I doubt anyone will go near an actual quilt.

Apparently, The Fox Basher has deleted his BlueSky account, saw it mentioned on another thread.

Oh, and I can do the duvet trick as well, but only up to double size. And I Do Not Iron Sheets.

YES. Mine are seersucker on top, cotton underneath. Didn't get the matching seersucker pillows though - crazy idea.

Guest duvet cover is cotton. Hung up to dry in front of window on a couple of skirt hangers. No ironing needed!

GreenFootstool · Today 17:26

If you have stairs, the inside out method works well - chuck it over the bannister and use the drop of the stairs to shake it out. Easier than trying to flap it over a bed.

Now, why have I never thought of that?! That should be easier on my wrists, thanks.

borntobequiet · Today 17:34

I must be especially gifted, as I have never had trouble putting a cover on a duvet. But I do enjoy ironing bedlinen - I don’t do it all the time, but in my cold flat it speeds up the drying process, I find it relaxing (listen to a podcast) and it feels wonderfully luxurious when I get into bed.

That's what I used to do before I discovered coverless duvets.

No need to worry about husbands or small children in my flat 😁.

As for the cat, she makes it much more fun even if it does twice as long & lead to me getting distracted by taking photos of her.

Boiledbeetle · Today 18:00

I pay someone to put my duvet cover on. I give no fucks as to the method she uses, Although I may ask her tomorrow.

Boiledbeetle · Today 18:01

To add I also pay the same person to iron the duvet cover before she puts it on.
