A report on 'anti gender actors' from Amnesty appears to be a puzzling work of jumbled nonsense and overwrought fiction.

Either they completely fail to grasp what 'gender critical' means, or they are deliberately trying desperately to bundle it in with Xtian rightwing US organisations. Maybe both.

Trans activists have been accusing UK feminists of being rightwing Xtian US fundamentalist funded for years. Sometimes it's funny, more often it's just fucking tedious.

Anyway.

What the everloving fuck do they think they mean, here?

Feminists 'target' the rights of women? In terms of - feminists have fought long and hard for the rights of women? Yes, well done, Amnesty.

Then they whang on a lot about abortion and well funded US rightwing organisations, including religious groups, etc.

And then ...

The list at the end should give them a wee clue. Dozens of feminist organisations, almost all listed as 'informal', yet lumped in bizarrely with massive US anti abortion groups.

I came across this video from Mr Menno interviewing Iseult White who is the granddaughter of the founder of Amnesty. I have only listened to the first half so far but her account of the earliest days and the foundation of its original values are fascinating. She also provides some insight into the way in which organisations like this turn rotten from within.

They have a fair bit of explaining to do.

Amnesty's bullshit claims have been swallowed and expanded upon by some very unstable people. They have published and disseminated a list of women who do not have the resources to fight an international well funded organisation. Given various violent extremists and unhinged narratives, this is extremely serious.

Thank FUCK there are a few who do have the resources who can do so on behalf of those who can't.

She's telling them if they don't exactly what she says, all the documentation relating to this will be requested.

I can't be the only one who would love to have a sight of that.

Just to add that at last I've followed all that advice from experts on personal finance and frugal living to review my subscriptions. I've finally cancelled my Amnesty International monthly donation. I apologise to everyone on here for having taken so long. It was set up some years ago when they actually seemed to be concerned with prisoners of conscience and miscarriages of justice. That's my excuse.

For Amnesty to state that people who express a,"belief*, whatever that belief may be, have "no place in society" is fundamentally opposed to their aims.

From their website:

"Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 10 million people who are committed to creating a future where human rights are enjoyed by everyone."

Everyone except gender-critical people, it seems.

"We uncover the truth"

Well, that's risible.

And under "Our human rights priorities" there is "Strengthening freedom of expression and association".

Haha. I'm sure I could find more.

That's fiery. And completely reasonable.

For a woman who receives endless abuse, JKR is much less likely to take someone to law on her own behalf.

But I get the feeling that JK feels the women of Beira's Place are under her protection and she will put up with no harassment of them because she feels responsible for them. So she is much more likely to fight on their behalf. For which I applaud her.
