Welcome all to the Bluestocking Women's Pub, where food and drink are free as in gluten free, calorie free, alcohol free - but still delicious. And free free too, of course.
Served by highly professional staff who are gerbils.

The Bluestocking Ice-Cold Mojito Foot-bath kept us deliciously cool through the heatwave. Come and join us, in case there's another one🌞

I have not done as much today as I should have because the Tempest Tribunal is riveting in its utter batshittery.

MyrtleLion · 29/06/2026 19:06

I haven’t been following it, so when I dropped in earlier, I couldn’t believe what it was - I didn’t like seeing posts about gender critical views, and I was discriminated against as a result - and that was it. And it’s obvious he saw more than he has claimed, even though he was off sick for five months because it was all so harmful.

Complete batshit, with apologies to Batshit.

Hello All

Thanks for the new thread Marie. Thank goodness for a haven of sanity and gerbils after the batshittery of the tribunal thread (apologies to the Batshit - no correlation intended).

ETA for errant punctuation

Edited

The Batshit would be another good name for a pub, you know. I couldn't possibly speculate about the sort of person who might drink there, of course.

Batshit is very confused by the tribunal thread (keeping up with that one is a job in itself) because they keep using her name, and she runs over, and finds no treats or fuss or anything... They just look at her as if to say, 'What the hell are you doing here?'

She is conked out on the sofa sleeping off the disappointment.
😥

I'll have to keep her off the thread tomorrow. She shouldn't be allowed on the internet, really.

And nor should Brains, but for other reasons.

Sending Batshit and Brains virtual gravy bones.😍

Nice tractor at the end of the last thread, @EdithStourton

They come in a lovely metallic red, do Valtras.

I'd love a nail polish that colour.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/06/2026 19:23

I’ve not been following the TT thread either. Is it best ignored, or is it worth a summary or even an interpretive dance?

EdithStourton · 29/06/2026 19:26

Oh wow!
I'll consider it overnight, and probably order some in the morning.

They love you now. You'll never get rid of them.

Magpiecomplex · 29/06/2026 19:28

I'm quite tempted by that one too!

JanesLittleGirl · 29/06/2026 19:37

Please may I have a serious G&T? Plymouth gin out of the freezer and Britvic tonic for preference. Today was my first day back at work and I am rubber ducked.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/06/2026 19:40

I quite fancy a frivolous G&T - lots of umbrellas and curly straws and fruit, please bar gerbils.

We are having fish finger wraps for tea - I think they’d go well with a lot of gin and tonic.

Fish finger wraps? Why have I never thought of that.

Although it’s also the sort of thing I can imagine being served on a wanky platter with something unnecessary in the wrap in a pretentious pub.

DauntlessDamson · 29/06/2026 20:08

I still fantasise about the fish finger sandwich I had from a quayside mobile fish shack in Fowey last year. No unnecessary greenery, but home made tartar sauce and perfectly cooked chips. Yum! 😋

EmpressaurusKitty · 29/06/2026 20:23

I’m on the bus home from a lovely relaxing yoga class & feeling very chilled.

ChristmasStars · 29/06/2026 20:23

Just place marking before I go be a kind parent and taxi my teen into town. Thanks to @AngleofRepose for alerting me to the move!
Off work for the next 10 days so might be more present in ye olde Bluestocking this time.

AsWithGlad · 29/06/2026 20:24

I had some absolutely wonderful chips at one of the black tie events I worked last week. Luckily it was the one where I was officially allowed to eat the guests’ food.

I don’t know what made them so good, as I’d resisted the dressings. Perhaps because they were freshly deep fried? I started with a half portion and went back for seconds.

JanesLittleGirl · 29/06/2026 20:26

DM is a notoriously average cook. If it doesn't come out of the freezer or a tin then she can't cook it. Fish finger sandwiches with tomato sauce were a supper staple growing up. Loved them then and love them now.

I seem to recall that 'shitfaced' was your destination on the last thread. Must be tough getting back into the swing of work after that.

EdithStourton · 29/06/2026 20:30

DM was an excellent cook.
She made absolutely fabulous chips.

She's been gone for decades and I still miss her cooking.

Chersfrozenface · 29/06/2026 20:39

A couple of weeks ago I was at an event where they had some rather colourful tractors. Enjoy, tractor fans!

A whole bloody thread I was stuck in the storage shed. I snuck into a moving crate on the thread before the last thread. Fell asleep and woke up locked in the shed. No amount of screaming for help worked.

But someone kept leaving me a Tunnock's Tea Cake every day.

Now I'm not accusing anyone, and I'm not saying it was intentional that I was locked in for a whole thread, but someone knew I was there AND I discovered a whole pile of empty snowball wrappers in my secret stash location that only @Hedgehogforshort knows about.

But it could have been anyone I suppose.

AsWithGlad · 29/06/2026 20:42

Oh, Boily! I’m glad you are free now.

We’d better call in M Leek from the last thread to investigate.

You remember correctly. It was watching the England v Ghana game and having to be in the bar hours before kickoff. And I did end up shit-faced but not 'pissy, cacky all fall downy' and DH carried me back to the hotel. My memory is a little unclear but breakfast the next day was a Bloody Mary at about midday. And people say that I can't do classy.
