I am just wondering why Tommy Robinson is so appealing to a number of sex-realist women. Kellie Jay Keen spoke at the event. My local LWS group are fully supportive, as are the leaders of my local WRN groups.
Is anyone else finding it is harder to network with gender critical/sex realist women without them also being Reform/Restore/Tommy Robinson supporters?

A women who supports Tommy Stephen Yaxley-Lennon Robinson was arrested for carrying a sword. Fake news then circulates on shitter that it is was a "fake" sword.

Met police confirmed it's real.

A lot of right-wing defending her but what people seem to not be considering is even if she didn't use it herself someone (maybe a drunk or angry person) could have snatched it from her and used it.

Really? Is that it? Is that all you found after all your feverish efforts on t'internet? Poor show.

This.
The left constantly put up straw men arguments - they just don’t cut any ice any more.

By general standards, as a liberal left of centre person, I am on "the left".**

I don't constantly put up strawman arguments.

I would agree that some on the left do this, increasingly so as you go further left on the political horseshoe - see image below. But there are plenty of people on the left just like me who want to live and let live, while saying a firm no to boundaries that are needed for safeguarding and societal function being destroyed.

** I'm feeling politically homeless (see above re leadership positions on TWAW in the left parties)

I have a feeling you would have posted something different if it were a trans person or brown person who went out with a sword.

I hate how the trans shitshow has been used by culture warriors. It's not left wing. It was brought down on us by the Tory government.

It was a Labour government and David Lammy that rammed through introduced the Gender Recognition Act 2004. The Tories just looked to take the next step.

The ‘trans shitshow’ has very much been championed with enthusiasm by the authoritarian left but obviously politicians of all persuasions have remained vulnerable to the huge propensity of the trans activists for bullying and forcing their views on everyone.

It is my opinion that the Tories thought they would just leave the TWAW people to wind themselves up as the concept was totally mental in the first place, whilst they got on with the job of sorting out their own nests and then bam - it was everywhere and embedded in education, civil service and the SPADS all told them that the activists were mental and might come for them so just let them do what they want and say 'sure whatever' and if the mainly left wing women mostly starting with lesbians hadn't pushed back so hard the UK would be worse than Canada by now.

How do you know this person isn't trans? Are you being bigoted?

Yes, I think you’re right although Teresa May and Maria Miller did pick it up for some unknown reason to try and take forward a self id amendment.

She was probably trying to up her ‘cool’ points or something - I can’t remember if her telling about running through a cornfield was at a similar time.

Yes it was, and the dancing. Oh my, that dancing. Again, I suspect it was SPADs that advised all this.

TheNoWord · 18/05/2026 10:17

I will point out that women in the Conservative party (members, peers and MPs) were quietly digging away to return the party to sanity on so-called ‘trans rights’. It wasn’t solely down to left wing feminists, despite what some would have you believe.
But yes, it was often SpAds doing the damage and they were mostly gay young men I’m afraid.

MyrtleLion · 18/05/2026 10:28

CornishDaughteroftheDawn · 18/05/2026 08:10

That’s as maybe but as far as I can see your first post on this thread was effectively accusing us all of being brainwashed racists where no racism has been expressed. If that’s how you argued in the group, maybe you could rethink your approach a little and get a better response?

Maybe you should read it more closely because I did no such thing.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 17/05/2026 19:37

Graham Linehan and JK Rowling were staunch Labour supporters. They got pushed right through the conflict of rights that the trans issue threw up.

In what way are these people 'right'?

I did read it quite closely, that’s why it sounds like that’s what you were saying.

So what were you trying to imply when you wrote this? How did I misunderstand you?

I think if you are gender critical, the algorithm will serve you content that is right wing, because the right wing parties and right wing news sites are usually the only ones to agree that sex is real and immutable.
Gradually your feed becomes a little more right wing and you barely notice it and can find yourself nodding along.
Before you know it you're agreeing that "all Muslim men are a threat to women" and then suddenly you're posting racist opinions.

You’ve taken a general observation about algorithms, political drift and group dynamics and read it as a blanket accusation about all GC women. In the context of the discussion, that clearly wasn’t what I was saying.

If you still choose to read it that way, I can’t really help that.

This is not a general observation. It is very specifically about being gender critical and the right wing.

It's interesting that you think the left has given up on science though. Does this mean that all scientists are now considered right wing?

You’re responding to things I didn’t actually say, rather than to the words I wrote. Since you are the third person to assume things I haven't said or belive, I don’t think there’s much point continuing on that basis.

It obviously wasn’t clear to me - you specifically referenced GC women and then went on to suggest that the algorithm will feed us right wing stuff and then we end up making racist posts.

Who did you mean by ‘you’ and ‘your’ after you had specifically referenced GC women?

I still think a common definition of ‘right wing’ would be helpful as I get the sense that you mean something different to many of us.

I saw it happen in my WRN group and was told to ignore it or answer back. Then I was piled on when I did answer back. Eventually I left after a particularly nasty meme was posted in the group.

I wouldn't be surprised if Reform encourages its women members to join such groups and post their opinions to see how much traction they get. It's infiltrated propaganda.

Arabella, you know I'm speaking in general terms. We have discussed this before. The right wing press will talk about sex being immutable when the left wing press won't.

So you can’t extrapolate that “you” means people in general?

I think this conversation has demonstrated my point about online discourse rather well.

For the record, I am not accusing all gender critical women of being right wing. I am saying that I can see why some gender critical women are more frequently exposed to right-wing sources, and that repeated exposure can lead some people to adopt or express more right-wing views.
