YouGov Poll shows what parliament would look like if only women could vote

FireBucket · 12/05/2026 20:50

Picturisation of the voting intentions of women aged 18-50 shows a parliament overwhelmingly stuffed with parties which are openly pro-trans.

When will the gender critical movement let go of the disingenuous narrative that they speak for or represent women when they clearly don’t?

It must be so irritating for the RSOH that all the pesky women have a vote not just those who agree with them

It's the re-emergence of the Victorian male. Women and children are property. To be seen but not heard and here only to obey their master's instructions.

They're all so bloody regressive.

GeneralPeter · 12/05/2026 21:45

An honest mistake, I’m sure, eh @FireBucket.

Thanks to YouGov you now know women 18–51 think people should be free to identify how they like but shouldn’t get other-sex rights…. the classic GC position.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/05/2026 21:46

I put this question into perplexity.ai, which seems to do a pretty good job at this sort of analysis:

Using latest relevant yougov.uk poll data, estimate what the House of Commons would look like if only women could vote

it gives a lot of detail (if anyone is interested they can try it themself, you can get 3 free searches per day) but the upshot is:

  • Labour: 240-290 seats.
  • Conservatives: 220-280 seats.
  • Reform UK: 40-90 seats.
  • Lib Dems: 30-60 seats.
  • Greens: 5-25 seats.
  • National parties and others: 10-25 seats.

Confidence levelThe direction is solid: women-only voting would likely be better for Labour, Conservatives, Greens, and Lib Dems than for Reform relative to the male electorate, with Labour and the Conservatives much closer than in the all-voter result.

Great opportunity to post this again, from https://sex-matters.org/posts/single-sex-services/new-poll-shows-most-people-prefer-single-sex-toilets-and-changing-rooms/

Even among the youngest adults and Green voters, a majority agree that transgender people should not simply be allowed to use whichever facilities they prefer.

In my experience the non GC/rad fem women don't think of self ID or trans rights as a pressing issue for the UK. They think climate change, equal pay, childcare, human rights generally are all important though - is left leaning, and that's what the Greens offer.

This topic is naturally very skewed towards trans issues being the be all and end all, for most women it just isn't a priority.

Its nothing to do with 'trans rights'.

Women's rights
Logic
Honesty
Common sense
Straightforwardness
Freedom of belief, and speech

While we are discussing surveys, this is also of interest:

Q: for under 16s with gender dysphoria, services should focus on psychological and mental-health support rather than medical interventions.

There is a majority (ie over 50%) net agreement for this in every age category, in every voting intention category (incl Green) and in both sex categories.

To take an analogy - about ethnic minorities. Left wingers do like to harp on about anti-racism but then exhibit shocking stereotypes themselves. I have, several times IRL had gasps of shock when it's revealed I don't have leftie views even though I'm "a POC" (hate that phrase), and a naturalised immigrant. They seem to expect that everyone of certain demographics should behave in predictable ways.

And this checks out with the leaderships too. Again, which party has not had any ethnic minority leaders (ever)? The Labour Party. Because they don't see people as real individuals with their own ideas, just a set of labels. If you're of this ethnicity or that religion, you probably have such and such views.

But real people are individuals.

The left seem to have the same attitude towards “POC” as they do poor people.
They like them when they’re useful and toeing the line but god help them if they don’t.

Good catch @GeneralPeter

The image in the OP first surfaced on the Instagram account Visegrad 24 - a news outlet with a reputation for low reliability and opaque structure.

@FireBucket you’re trying to push a specific right wing agenda here. Reported.

Sorry, just catching up with the thread. Is this not a genuine YouGov poll then?

InconvenientlyMaterial · 12/05/2026 22:40

I wouldn't assume voting green = believing in gender ideology, OP.

I did, and I don't.

This.

Same with all minorities. No equals, just special pets. IF they're grateful and do as they're told and don't get out of line.

Revolting.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 12/05/2026 22:41

The 18-50 age banding is doing the heavy lifting there

Screamingabdabz · 12/05/2026 22:48

A lot of people are not politically literate.

So they go to the ballot box to give a protest vote and think ‘Green’ sounds like a nice eco choice instead of the reality, which is a women-hating bin fire party of loony extremism.

SilenceInside · 12/05/2026 22:56

I guess the point being shoved is that anyone over 50 is just too aged and out of touch with the youth to be taken into account. And they’ll all die soon, so nerr. Or something.

Can I thank all the posters who have done the leg work on the data that’s produced this image, the context and the detail around it? It’s impressive what can be discovered in a short amount of time.

Sorry, just catching up with the thread. Is this not a genuine YouGov poll then?

OP can't be arsed to give any source info or (more likely) has just cut and pasted from a dubious site on t'internet, with limited understanding. It may reflect some careful cherry-picking of YouGov data combined with a (deliberate) failure to understand that raw votes do not necessarily translate into seats in our FPTP system. Who knows?

RedToothBrush · 12/05/2026 23:01

Next week

Who would be in parliament if cats could vote

In an equally irrelevant random poll.

RedToothBrush · 12/05/2026 23:03

The alternative media twisted headline is Green Party encourage all men and women over 50 to be culled in order for them to take power.

CassOle · 12/05/2026 23:03

Or that self-reported voting intentions don't always materialise into actual votes in exactly those numbers (see the 'shy Tory' effect).

ETA - an additional thought in response to HenriettaSwanLeavitt's post.

I am sure that people voting Green are not voting on trans issues. Unless trans people are green ....

EmeraldRoulette · 12/05/2026 23:11

I saw this somewhere else and I wondered where on earth it had come from

I know YouGov are a bit crap but seriously, what is this? Do they put stuff out to generate discussion?

Wasn't it them who said that the majority of the public were in favour of the Garden Bridge project when in fact people didn't really know how it was going to work or what the full proposal was, with the interruption of views and so on?

It may not have been - I looked at a lot of material because I campaigned against it.

SilenceInside · 12/05/2026 23:13

@EmeraldRoulette I doubt that YouGov have produced that image. It’s probably been generated from YouGov original data that’s been cherry picked or otherwise manipulated to produce the required outcome. Hence the total lack of proper reference or notes about how the results were produced.

GreyskySexRealistsky · 12/05/2026 23:15

Posters usually post a direct link to the YouGov website when they post a diagram like this. It would be useful to have the link OP.

ShrankLastWinter · 12/05/2026 23:47

I’ve often voted Green despite their gender nonsense because I care about the environment.

I won’t anymore because they’ve gone so far on the gender crap and they are apparently synonymous with gender ideology not green issues.

StrictlyCoffee · 12/05/2026 23:49

I’m a woman over 50. If I don’t get a say in our elected bodies, can I stop having to pay for them please?

Thank you

I found it on X and there's no community note

Bizarre

I'm not running a polling company, but I would be really surprised if that was accurate. And worried. And that's got nothing to do with gender issues!
