It worries me that some people just read headlines like this and think all these women have children naturally. At least that’s the impression I got from reading the comments on this story. The surrogacy sometimes isn’t even mentioned.

It’s all done so casually, isn’t it? The surrogate (if mentioned at all) barely gets acknowledged, despite having risked permanent physical damage or even death to allow this privileged woman to expand her family.

Lomonald · 06/05/2026 17:03

To be fair the headline and article i read said they used a surrogate so it wasn't misleading really, why anyone would want a baby at 53 is beyond me,

AllPlayedOut · 06/05/2026 17:10

It’s depressing/infuriating to see how many celebrities use a surrogate. I should really stop looking up celebrities on Wiki to see what else they’ve been in because I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read that they used a surrogate and I can barely look at them after that. It’s utterly despicable. I can no longer enjoy a show I used to love thanks to that. (Though that’s the least of my concerns in this matter.

MouldyCandy · 06/05/2026 17:13

53 year old woman buys baby.
There, fixed the headline for you.

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 06/05/2026 17:30

It’s hideous to add a baby to your family at 53, however you buy come by it.

Sefish and vile.

I imagine most articles mention it but it’s the type of story where most people are likely to just read the title and subtitle and not read to the end where it’s mentioned as a side note.

So many celebrities have children via surrogacy, if I didn't know better, I'd assume it's some sort of advertising deal.

Nobody is thinking a 53 year old woman is having a baby naturally though her age alone will pique interest to read further into it, i am 55 ive not had a period for 5 years far less conceive a baby 2 years ago.

user6791 · 06/05/2026 17:44

Rich people take baby from its mother and think it's ok because they really wanted one.

Chersfrozenface · 06/05/2026 17:52

..why anyone would want a baby at 53 is beyond me...

Having outsourced the gestation and birth of the baby, I hardly think she's going to do the hard work of child-rearing herself. She'll have staff for that.

She may take the child out for the odd photo opportunity. Rather like those dogs in bags.

47 year old man, and his 53 year old wife, buy a baby.
There, fixed it for you.
Or is it only women that should be held responsible?

Chilling isn't it. Always trying to make money out of women and children.

Well, playing devils advocate, its likely that he can father a child naturally. She cant create a child naturally.

So yes, her choice one would assume. She could say 'no we cant have a child as I cant conceive anymore'

Boiledbeetle · 06/05/2026 18:16

I think all 3 of her kids were via surrogacy. The first one was 2019.

CloudyBayPlease · 06/05/2026 18:20

I saw this being discussed on ‘Vanessa’ yesterday, and I was so irritated.

The topic just focused on ‘is 53 too old to have a baby?’ Not one mention of the fact it’s a bloody commercial surrogacy like all her others. Surely, that’s the issue at hand and more worthy of discussion?

‘Vile’ give over 🙄

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 06/05/2026 18:30

On Instagram I saw two men (no idea who they are, they just came up in the suggested bit) posing in the middle of the photo, hugging and holding hands or similar, saying ‘we’re pregnant again’ and off side, slightly out of focus and standing much further back, was a pregnant woman.

Of course it’s vile; all surrogacy is.

He doesn’t need a surrogate, the woman does.

painthisbathroom · 06/05/2026 19:01

I don't think she was able to conceive naturally and had tried IVF in the past. If surrogacy was your only way to have a child and you had that much money i can see why you would want to carry on. She obviously looks after herself too and has the resources to ensure her kids are supported so i don't think her age matters that much.

Fertility issues are no excuse for exploiting other women and taking a baby from its Mother when there is no good reason to do so.

Changednameagain999 · 06/05/2026 20:44

If it’s not her biological child they would be better to adopt? Cheaper for them as well?

Not sure why you would think that. After a few years of trying (naturally not medically) My sister in law had a daughter at 52. My niece seems to be very happy and is doted on by her mum, her two brothers who were 29 and 30, when their sister was born and her father, who is 17 years younger than mum.

There are lots of ways to be a happy family.

He does need a surrogate because the woman he's with is 53.

What was it Nicole Kidman called hers? Gestational carrier I think it was. Just utterly fucking cold and detached.
