Ok, am off to view <whispers> bungalows today. Don't know if you should wish me luck or not, but I will be some time. If you all decide to up and move the Bluey, someone let me know, please? Ta!
Have a great day, everyone!

Hope it goes well, Angle.

I was going to scoff at the idea of the Bluey moving then I glanced at the Page number - we're on 38 already😬

A John Deere 6320, top of the wheels higher than my shoulder. I resisted the temptation to take it for a joyride for fear that in my inexperience I'd kill someone, probably myself. Though I see secondhand ones are priced €23k up . . . .

Anyhow, it's gone now, just I was building up a head of indignant steam about the noise and the fumes and the drive-blockage.

Like this but less shiny and with a big metal overbite attachment.

Someone has parked their vehicle across my drive, blocking it.

They've left the key in the ignition and the engine running, but they are not inside it.

It is a green tractor.

What should I do?

ps, I don't actually need to get out and go anywhere.

Maybe they are protesting the high cost of fuel and the country being overrun etc etc.? Call in the Army!😄
[recent Irish current affairs reference!]

Random's suggestion is an excellent one - you know how popular tractors are here in the Bluey, just imagine being able to boast that you've actually driven one to day! You have to get all the details of make and model, and a photo of it as well.

Or you could drive it down the road at speed, with a half a dozen squad cars on your tail..

By the time I've finished writing this and posted it, the owner will probably have come back and driven it away😐

edited to say that I was nearly right about taking so much time to post this - you've already done everything I suggested🙄
Must think and type faster... must think and type faster... must think and....

B&B send morning sunbathing vibes.

Batshit, on morning dog walk, found... a stick! Well, more the old dried up stalk of some sturdy weed (hogweed?). Off she gambolled, joyfully along the track, like a spring lamb in a dog suit. Of course, she didn't just gambol randomly. She gambolled past Brains, with malice aforethought (but not forethought enough, as we shall see).

Brains, on being gambolled past for the second or third time by Batshit waving the weedy-stick-thing, took the bait, and started chasing Batshit. Along the track, back across a stretch of half-grown wheat ('Dogs! OUT OF THERE!'), along a tramline while leaving the crop, onto a patch of grass - where Brains barked very crossly at Batshit and finally caught hold of one end of weedy-stick-thing. A brief tussle ensued, with various fierce noises. Brains had played with exactly this weedy-stick-thing yesterday and she wanted it back. Batshit should have known this, but memory and forethought aren't really in her skillset.

Unusually, Batshit emerged victorious from the tussle, probably because Brains's end of weedy-stick-thing broke, and charged off up the hill with Brains in hot pursuit, the pair of them raising a nice cloud of dust. Brains chugged to a stop, but Batshit came past again, gambol, gambol. Another telling-off ensued, Brains grabbed weedy-stick-thing, and after a brief struggle wrested it from Batshit. She proceeded to destroy it with some very satisfactory crunching noises while Batshit, as unembarrassed as ever, gambolled off to sniff along the verge.

I think Batshit might need a brush. She has just had a good scratch when standing in a sunbeam, and clouds of fur came out.

Another lovely story of our fave doggies thank you Edith!
A spring lamb in a dog suit 😁

I've spent the whole morning having great fun here and on That Other Thread, I have to go and do boring but important stuff now, dammit!

See you l8r, 🐊s

I'm disappointed in you, Dean. Resisting the temptation to drive a tractor? Must do better.

Iamnotalemming · 30/04/2026 11:35

How many gerbils would it take to drive a tractor, I wonder ...

WearyAuldWumman · 30/04/2026 11:41

The morello cherry tree that DH planted for me is now in full bloom. Might post a pic, later, so long as everyone promises to ignore the the rest of the messy garden and seagull mess besplattered car.

DeanElderberry · 30/04/2026 11:42

Some of us are - more hard-wired for larceny than others.

Yeah, ditto. I'd at least have climbed up and tried out the seat...

A farmer friend was due an operation, so I offered my help if he needed any. I should probably have specified that this was up to and including learning to drive the tractor...

I'm wondering what the 'overbite attachment' noted by Deano was. Counterweight? Some sort of digger?

YABU because you didn't post this in AIBU!
(but, yes, I'd take this as the perfect opportunity to drive a green tractor)

With a diagram.

I expect the diagram took so long and by the time it was finished the driver had come back so it's all useless now. AIBU's loss.

DeanElderberry · 30/04/2026 12:07

I was wondering about a grabber for round bales. It's that time of year.

When accusing us of having a hive mind they should have specified our reaction to temporarily abandoned tractors. They'd look a bit less silly.

SionnachRuadh · 30/04/2026 12:19

I don't know about abandoned tractors, but I think I've got over my discomfort with Google searches giving you an AI summary at the top, and am now finding it very useful for historical research.

I read out Deano's discovery of the tractor, & DH's eyes lit up at the thought of driving one. But the other day a Unimog went by us on the road, & that's what he really wants.

Were you watching Airplane when it was on earlier this week, by any chance?

I've been in a Unimog. It's a lot of fun.

I have no idea what a unimog is.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2026 15:31

Meanwhile, I’ve been out today volunteering - activities started with Strip the Willow.

….and then we used the whips to make raised beds which are going to have wildflowers in them.

PastaAllaNorma · 30/04/2026 15:46

ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2026 15:29

I have no idea what a unimog is.

Me neither. And I don't even have a car driving licence.

I do have a full motorcycle licence though.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2026 15:54

I’ve googled it - ok, that’s an ugly vehicle I wouldn’t argue with.😬

surely a unimog should be a single occupancy vehicle which either looks like a cat (yes they exist) or else are designed to be driven by a cat.

that reminds me about the question re how gerbils drive tractors - I think this came up before and suggested it would be the same sort of teamwork as is employed by nomes.

DeanElderberry · 30/04/2026 16:06

What occurred to me after admiring the size of 'my' tractor is that from Saturday until the end of August, 16 year olds, not licensed to drive cars, are going to be barrelling round the back boreens in vehicles like that, pulling trailers the size of bungalows.

Defensive driving from now until the school hols are over.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 30/04/2026 16:30

Sadly, the only Unimog experience I can find is in Croatia. Damn, he's so hard to buy for.

DeanElderberry · 30/04/2026 16:34

Phew, I'm a month out. School hols start at the end of May, not the beginning, so the roads are safe for a few more weeks.
