Grace Campbell - Alastair Campbell

If I have missed any threads already started about this then apologies.

I am literally lost for words on the post she added to her podcast along with Charlie Craggs.

My own daughter has been lost to this cause. I am hoping I get her back. How utterly vile can a young woman be - Grace Campbell - towards women who have worked so hard to give her such privilege. I might be ugly and a freak Grace with awful hair. But I am not a mean girl.

I can't remember his exact wording, but on his podcast, Micheal Gove described AC as Labour first and foremost.

The GRA and PC of GR are Labour laws. Im willing to believe its his faithfulness to Labour and the Blair era thats cemented his belief that TWAW rather than listening to his bonkers daughter. I bet they argue about everything else.

So unless he gets told to stand down by Blair, its TWAW all the way for AC.

matresense · 24/04/2026 20:28

@Pingponghavoc

But Tony Blair has actually preached a position of sanity on gender - I remember him doing this a while ago when the ridiculousness of “what is a woman” started to hurt Labour. TB is many things, but he does have a pretty good radar for what makes people electable!

Thank you impossible.
Interesting to hear the manipulative language unpicked like that. Don't suppose A or R will ever listen to anything like that.

the indefatigable Julie Burchill:

'It’s a cliché that the kind of men who seek out a damn good thrashing from Miss Whiplash in a Bayswater basement are, in everyday life, arrogant types – judges and the like – but there’s definitely something to it. Do the men who seek to provoke her simply want to be put in their place by her? '

Absolutely brilliant. Devastating 😁

' Mr Campbell's previous occupations had included periods as a soft porn writer and a gigolo operating in the South of France'

😧

I could well imagine the soft porn, I'm sure it kept him up nights.

But a gigolo? That's snortingly unbelievable.

Oh my God, my eyes!

You know what, I still don't really believe it. It sounds like the male version of the happy hooker.

I don't believe a word of it. This story just confirms that AC has always been a BS artist.

Yeah none of it rings true.

Sounds like the made up bollocks of a 23-year-old who thinks being a gigolo makes him look desirable.

I wonder if it's a coincidence that the film American Gigolo came out the same year as that interview...🙄

Shedmistress · 27/04/2026 09:52

There is absolutely no way that spin story is true.

He wrote something about the amazing pulling power of his bagpipes too iirc when he was a staff writer at some mucky mag

Devastating as ever from Julie Burchill!👏

My enjoyment of the Spike article was interrupted? tempered? altered? by the appearance right in the middle of it of a no-doubt AI-generated image of a woman who is clearly proud of her breasts, because her choice of dress and posture have been chosen to show them off to best effect.

The text is 'Koreandates' so I'm guessing she's Korean, and there's some way that maybe I could date her. I'm not sure we'd be a good match, but I'm sure we'd get over our obvious differences and have a lovely evening, maybe a pub crawl in my local town? And I can loan her a cardi, she obviously isn't dressed for the Irish weather😏

How do these ads appear on Spiked? How do they appear in the middle of Julie Burchill's article? Are they entirely random? Does a website like Spiked have any control over the content of the ads that appear on their screen?

lcakethereforeIam · 27/04/2026 10:40

I think sites like MN and Spiked sell the advertising spaces through agencies. The demographics of the average user will probably influence the type of ads that get put in the space.

Dirty average Spiked reader! Needs more MN, although all those Victoria Secret ads I was seeing a few months agoShock

SionnachRuadh · 27/04/2026 10:46

I think it makes sense to see the advertising algorithm as being like a market trader trying to attract customers to his stall by shouting about what he guesses you might be interested in.

There was a time when I was getting lots of ads for Ukrainian mail order brides. This was between the time when I was getting Bravissimo ads and the time when I was getting ads for cheap funerals.

Nobody has ever explained the time when I just thought about the 1980s action movie Cobra, starring Sylvester Stallone, and for weeks afterwards YouTube thought I was the world's biggest Stallone fan.

Currently I'm most getting ads for vibe coding and Richard Osman books. Go figure.

MarieDeGournay · 27/04/2026 10:50

Sorry for the derail about ads, and thank you Cake and Sionnach.
It is interesting that Spiked's readership apparently attracts that kind of ad🤔
I get a lot of tai-chi for older people ads these days!

lcakethereforeIam · 27/04/2026 10:55

David Austin roses are currently stalking me.

Nobody wants to hear about your bag or pipes, Alastair.

I got that on Spiked but also previously on MN. Reported it via Site Stuff and was huffily informed by someone that this must be my posting history or that of someone in my household, neither of which were true (not least because the only person who uses my home internet is me!) MN said it had slipped through the filter and they'd get rid of it, so presumably Spiked aren't as circumspect as to what they permit, or they haven't binned it yet.

"The least [I was paid for one night] was £12."

“It’s never hard work, but the women do expect a high standard of performance.”

I'm absolutely certain those two statements are entirely unrelated.

Many years ago I got to interview a male escort and, maybe the gigolo economy was very different 50 years ago in AC's youth, but this informs how much credibility I put on AC's stories.

This lad was an extremely handsome and charming young man, and I've no reason to doubt that he was good at what he did, but he was quite open about the fact that, while women who are willing to pay for male company and/or sex do exist, it's a pretty small demographic. And even for the women who do do it, it's usually a one off rather than a regular habit. It's almost as if the sexes are different.

In fact, he said, he'd never known a man on the scene - and this is just a pure matter of economics - who could survive without doing gay for pay.

That's where the reality departs from the fantasy. Especially for men like AC who I'm sure are gay friendly, but who are also very keen for you to know that they're as straight as a laser beam.
