Grace Campbell - Alastair Campbell

If I have missed any threads already started about this then apologies.

I am literally lost for words on the post she added to her podcast along with Charlie Craggs.

My own daughter has been lost to this cause. I am hoping I get her back. How utterly vile can a young woman be - Grace Campbell - towards women who have worked so hard to give her such privilege. I might be ugly and a freak Grace with awful hair. But I am not a mean girl.

It's just occurred to me that Alastair Campbell is still the arch spin doctor even where his family is involved . He gets brownie points for saying he listens to his daughter about the trans issues. (He must know it's bollocks). Then when the wheels come off the trans bandwagon he can reverse ferret blaming his daughter and still look like a woman positive man. Meanwhile his daughter has been thrown under the bus by her own father

It’s obvious that the reason they don’t ask Helen Joyce or Kathleen Stock is that both of those women are vastly more intelligent and well-informed than either of them. The same is also true of JKR of course but they know that JKR would massively boost their audience numbers.

Alastair Campbell has doubled down with a tweet urging people to listen to their interview with the “compassionate” McBride.

Bwahahaha!

pollyhemlock · 21/04/2026 20:30

I don’t have any particular objection to their interviewing McBride ( I haven’t listened to it) but it’s depressing that they can’t see the value of platforming the alternative viewpoint. There are so many other articulate passionate women who are knowledgeable about this as well as JKR.

Rory and Alistair are the very worst of left-wing overconfident blokes - they feel that they've looked at a situation, come to a conclusion and that's that. They're obviously right so what possible other viewpoint could anyone consider other than their own?

What is it they say about the confidence of mediocre men...

I avoid everything from Goalhanger except TRIH, I'd love it if Dom n Tom found a way to extricate themselves from the wingnut empire.

@DrudgeJedd, can I recommend The Bookclub? Also a Goalhanger podcast, and also Dominic Sandbrook (who, quite frankly, I'd listen to if he was reading out the blurb at the back of a cornflake packet) and one of TRIH producers, Tabby. It's excellent, even when it's a book I have no intention of reading!

and also The Rest Is Classified (despite McClosky's awful vocal fry, those two really do know what they are talking about)

I've not listened to any TRIC but I keep meaning to because they're often subjects that really interest me. Will give it a go!

Alastair's skewering is certainly giving X a good laugh at the moment.

For such an exalted spin doctor he doesn't seem to be controlling the narrative or coming out on top here.

Malcolm Tucker would never have got into this position in the first place...

if you see people encouraging CSA report the posts.

As for your last line? Don't let the door hit your backside and all that.

This is my takeaway from Suzanne Moore:

"By knocking older women for not conforming to their idea of female attractiveness, Campbell and Craggs’ “trans activism” reveals the regressive stereotypes of gender this all involves."

And you'd think a 32 year old woman would understand this on some level - it does seem kind of adolescent, I would expect it more from the men that support gender ideology.

FWS of course just look like normal middle aged women!! Which is what for me makes their feminism so much more powerful - than this social media 'aspirational' mirage of vanity that we have now. So it's basically middle aged women getting dissed for the crime of aging and getting less fashionable which is just the same old shit isn't it.

However, I say to people like Campbell, keep on saying it, let's get to the nub of it. Old women (hags) shut up basically.

Agree, but in the world of Grace Campbell and others of her ilk, 'normal middle aged women' are just the kind of people they feel free to attack.

I have no sympathy for these useful idiots. I think they do a lot of harm.

I can’t imagine that she earns much as a ‘comedian’ , aren’t they supposed to be funny?

Quite. And I think their reference to the women they denigrate not being “aspirational” is driven by influencer culture, they aren’t selling a lifestyle or whatever so how can they possibly be worth listening to? Hmm

Yeah aspirational was a bit of an odd word to use.

It really is all beginning to look very sci-fi. Consumerism, advertising, monetising just about everything. With no appreciation of anything outside of it.

This one tickled me

I’m sorry, but everyone’s seen straight through this nonsense now. The fact you’re still trying to flog this dead horse is staggering — it’s been beaten so many times it’s practically glue. I genuinely can’t believe either of you ever held office.

I went off listening to them, after Rory kicked off about the "hysteria" about women's treatment under the reinstated Taliban in Afghanistan, when actually, he insisted, they'd brought a return to law and order.

I think someone on other threads has pasted a shot of his memoirs of his time as some colonial nabob there. He had Uncomfortable Thoughts about the local pastime of young men there of molesting girls being sent out to fetch water, but came to a conclusion that this was Just One of Those Things .

I don't bother with any of the Rest Is.. stuff now, not least BC there would be adverts every 30 seconds

fromorbit · Yesterday 00:18

Ok it has got even more daft now. Is this a comedy sketch?

J.K. Rowling
What better way could there be of repudiating accusations of misogyny than recommending an episode where three men instead of two discuss which rights women should be fine giving up - without, of course, mentioning the words 'women's rights.'

For those in the middle of the jk_rowling conversation I strongly recommend you listen to RestIsPolitics LEADING interview with SarahEMcBride - you could not wish to hear a more compelling, passionate and measured advocate of trans rights and human rights.

Yes, I was shouting in shock at that episode. Stuart dismissed fears for travellers in Afghanistan, sayng that it was a much safer country under the Taliban.

NOT A THOUGHT for 50% of the population who have been made into non-humans by those murderous old men, the Taliban.

I used to think he was quite a good thing. He was MP for an electorate near me and understands - so I thought - his non-metropolitan and rural fellow-citizens.

But no ...

ParmaVioletTea · Yesterday 02:53

to hear a more compelling, passionate and measured advocate of trans rights and human rights.

But no mention of women's rights - because to those 3 men, women aren't quite fully human. We're service units to them, as is clear from the way both Campbell and Stuart have talked on the programme about their domestic work. ie they don't do any. Campbell has apparently never cooked a meal in his life. Tosser.

how are you knowing all these women’s groups”anti-trans men”who hoard pictures of naked children?? If I were you I’d seriously find a new friend group. I can only assume you know about the pictures because you know the men personally! I don’t know any men personally who hoard pictures of children abd I do know lots of people. Who are you hanging out with?

I always think that's exactly what David Tennant is doing with his wife.
He's extremely careful to always mention that it's HER influence that's behind his stance.
