feminism or transphobia?

Long time lurker of this forum, first time poster.

I have read through many of the threads on here and I have to say there are lots of views that I find quite shocking.

There almost seems to be two sides of the ‘gender critical’ movement on here that I can see.

The first seems quite reasonable. They wish to have protections in place for women and their rights. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree (e.g. trans folk in toilets, transgender prisoners etc) they are stating a view based on safety and women’s rights.

The second bunch are the ones who I find myself disagreeing with, and who post things that I personally consider as transphobic. Some examples of this would be: refusing to use someone’s pronouns or citing being transgender as a mental illness which needs to be cured.

I feel that the first group are genuinely feminists who are concerned with women’s rights, and feel as though they need to speak out on their own concerns. The second group are masquerading under the pretence of feminism to say hateful or controversial things.

I am interested to hear other views on this point (and I’m sure there will be a lot here who don’t agree with me!)

How is calling a man a man insulting?

Then do what you like. No one is compelling you to insult these men. You don’t seem to mind mocking and insulting women as much though, funny that.

I haven’t mocked and insulted anyone. I’ve said the usual excuses for being a bigot don’t wash with me

Well I feel uncomfortable when people call women cis, when we get called uterus havers, or bleeders, when breast feeding becomes chest feeding, when NHS leaflets on medical issues particular to women can’t use the word woman ( something that doesn’t happen in medical information targeted at men), I get uncomfortable when people call male athletes she, when people refer to a surgical pouch made from an inverted penis as a neo vagina. We all have our little quirks and hang ups don’t we?

That poster. Read the posts about what she thinks about women who share their experiences of how misogynistic some of these men are.

What bigotry? Objecting to rape threats?

Genuine question. Do you think all men have a problem that they are excluded from female single sex spaces? They are all excluded as we don’t know what ones are a danger. Most men understand this. You insinuate that we are tarring all Transwomen with the same brush because of bad behaviour from some. We’re not. We’re just treating them as men.

Oh yes I know that poster is, I was just confused about why that poster was saying others were mocking and insulting women and where lemons came into it?

She thinks saying you can’t be a woman as a man in the same way as you can’t be a lemon is some sort of heinous insult towards genderists.

I really really don’t and either you guys are pretending to be stupid because you’re enjoying the argument or you genuinely think I’m mocking women for receiving rape threats because I used it as a reason women often make for using insulting language, which I personally don’t find stands up to my morals . I really cba to defend this to you guys because I have so much better things to do

So it's an insult to say that someone has a mental illness? Is this because one should feel ashamed of having a mental illness?

Are you sure you're not demonstrating a phobia relating to mental health?

No that’s not what I mean and why I’m disengaging. What is your reading level? You seem to have terrible decoding and understanding skills while relying heavily on inference

I genuinely think you’re mocking women. Your words show that. We can all read them. I’ve got an idea. Go to the trans pages on Reddit and see what they say about women. Take brain bleach. You’ll need it.

It’s exactly what you’re saying. Women here are either weaponising or making up rape threats to be nasty to these men, that’s the “reason for insulting language” you mention, no?

I am so tired of the word "bigot" being bandied about if anyone has the audacity to believe in a) women's rights or b) reality.

So now I’m saying they’re making them up? This is a stretch.
