Welcome to the Bluestocking women's pub. Men are directed to the Staunch Ally just down the road. Otherwise all are welcome. Pull up a chair, give your order to the Wait Gerbil or the Gerbil behind the bar.

Don't forget to name change if you wish to.

Tsk I thought i would treat myself to a late night out.

my time has been taken up so much with. The grand hoglettes, my nephew, and supporting his mum and dad that i have to do a lot of cantering through posts on this thread and elsewhere.

oh Gosie, take care darling, it's lovely when it's fizzing through your blood and you feel light headed and euphoric and he is the best thing that ever happened, but

Gosie decided at 6.15 this morning that enough was enough, this was her time and cute though Seb may be, she would bid him a fond farewell and hit the road after a quick croissant.

She is currently en route to Ambient, up in the mountains, where she hopes that quietly absorbing the atmosphere will set her mind at rest and prepare her for returning to the Bluestocking.

The flowers are in bloom, the sun is shining, the open top is down, the birds are singing, the trees are leafing. Her beret blew off a few miles back and she's not bothered.

Gosie is a gerbil of many talents, including driving from the passenger seat.

Something about the French sitting in the left front seat of the car...

Surely before deciding to leave she should have breakfasted on one egg? Because un œuf est un œuf…

sorry.Grin

Ahhh - I remember that joke (yolk) @ErrolTheDragon - learned at my father's knee, and other low joints.

You two are a great double act, Woley and Errol😂

Thank you for the Marilyn/Jane treat, Deano! Wonderful.
I like the fact that instead of getting into predicted cat-fights - two famous women in one place, they have to scratch each other's eyes out, surely? - they were very friendly and Russell was very supportive of poor old Marilyn and her troubles...

I bear that in mind when I see them interacting on screen, there was a genuine chemistrySmile
Gosie - run free! take to the hills! Berets didn't suit you anyway! They squashed the fur on your head! 😃

LOL, that is very funny.

Blowing another hooly here today. I need to get out into the garden, but don't fancy the gale.

We had gales here yesterday. That's an aspect of climate change that I've noticed: gales that happen suddenly, at any time of the year, and come out of a blue, not a stormy sky.

Of course, it's March so winds are to be expected.

And sudden gales are not unheard of - some years ago a gale came out of nowhere while a large group of kids were having sailing lessons in Dun Laoghaire harbour, it could have been a terrible disaster, but fortunately they were all plucked out of the water safelySmile
Here's a video of the Dun Laoghaire lifeboat heroes rescuing a little girl in a different emergency. A group of people had tried to rescue her and were injured when driven back onto the rocks - a good illustration of why DL harbour was built in the early 19th century -wild seas, hidden sandbars, vicious rocks.. - nearly 400 lives were lost in just one incident in 1807 when two troop ships were wrecked in a storm, just a few miles up the coast from DL.

You’re too hard-boiled for an egg joke?

Can you tell who is fed up with Men at the moment? 😂

To be frank, they are frequently bloody awful as a cohort and even the nice ones are a bit annoying.

I'm clearing out the fridge and have found many unlabelled small tubs of Stuff in various states of decay that Mr Pasta has put in "to use up later" and forgotten about until it's created enough new life to walk off on its own. And there are three new ones on the counter from yesterday. BIN IT OR LABEL IT, GODDAMN IT!

Horrendous dentistry ahead this afternoon, so I've had a lovely lunch on the grounds I may not be able to eat much for a while

How you feeling today Cake? Hopefully you are recovering with minimal bruising and hurty bits
💗

lcakethereforeIam · 30/03/2026 15:07

It's actually not too bad, pain wise. They wanted to give me codeine but I refused it because i didn't use the lot i was given last time. I'm fed up because I can't shower properly because I have to keep the wound dry. I do what I can but I feel icky. However, I'm lucky, I've got very little to complain about.

I am inordinately entertained by the AIBU typical food intake thread, and thinking it is SO unfair that I don't get to eat a pound of cheese a day as a snack.

Though I suppose there's nothing stopping me.

otoh I twice had what I think was a gallstone after cheesy overindulgence and it was very painful, so perhaps I should exercise self control.

I keep looking at that one @DeanElderberry - I'm waiting to see if the OP ever replies to people asking if she's trying to lose or gain weight. When she first said she eats half a 900g pack of cheese a day I was sure it was a typo.

I only ever had one solitary gallstone. Big shout out to my cat who, after days of me being in excruciating pain, decided to put his entire 1 stone plus weight right on the stone and nicely popped it through the bit it was stuck in for me.

That's where eating brocolli got me! Never again.

I know! A POUND of cheese A DAY!

I worked on a deli counter 40 years ago. I know that if I shaped my right hand as a reverse L and put my index finger on the edge of the cheddar, cutting the block with the cheese wire at the point where the tip of my thumb stopped, would be a pound of cheese.

If I just used the first joint of my thumb as the measure, it's about half a pound.

It's a LOT of cheese.

As it's protein and fat, and her blood pressure is low, it's possible she's not putting on weight - and I also noticed she didn't answer that question (not that it's our business) - but it's expensive.
