What bothers me here is that the Hippodrome has gender neutral toilets too. It's something I've commented on before because I went in by accident and freaking hated it. So why are these people going into the women's when they know they don't pass and will make women uncomfortable, when there is a perfectly valid and preferable gender neutral option right there?!

Yes. Because they demand to be treated as the gender they want to be known as rather than biological sex, they are put at risk. In reality this female who wanted to be known as a man was very vulnerable and it would be safer for vulnerable people to be placed with their biological sex not they preferred gender.
