Welcome one and all. Quick précis - women's pub, rodent staff, apparently we're sane.

First week of 2026 daily task complete and amongst the other things I've done 100 items have been evicted.

On my other resolution I'm just gearing up for shower No 7 (this one is so not going to last the year)

Congratulations! I could hear my stomach gurgling this afternoon 😂
Still, there was a tiny bit of movement on the scales last night so it's having an effect. (Yes, I know, water loss, but please don't disillusion me!)

I remember freezing rain unfondly from the period when I visited our Boston office regularly. This was around 1990; one of my colleagues had a remote which allowed her to start her car from inside the office so it was warm and defrosted when she left work.

I can remotely give my new fancy car a departure time and it will heat the car up ready.

A loss is a loss which in this case is a win!

Go Mags!

Now that really is fancy!

I’m trying to feel cosy in the lounge. Have put the fire on and have poured a glass of that damson gin. Managed a beach walk at lunchtime (was working today) but it was hit and miss walking to it. The tide was out so, once there, it was like walking in normal times. Lethal out there now; ice on top of the snow. Could do with more supplies but am not going to risk it.

I’m not keen on cheese with digestives. Prefer something snappier. The cheese on ginger biscuits sounds good, oddly. Have had thick Greek yoghurt piled on ginger biscuits and that was very nice.

It will also set the air-conditioning in the summer. And it has a smart speaker, so I don't have to fiddle around with the radio or my phone, I can just tell it to play a radio station or my audiobook or podcast.

I would be prepared to try yoghurt on ginger biscuits. It can't be that much different to dunking them in a glass of milk poured just to dunk the biscuits in.

Swashbuckled · 07/01/2026 19:04

I also spread honey on the first (on the flat underside) then piled the yoghurt on top. Sweet, creamy and crunchy. Go for it, Boiley.

100 items?!

That is a lot of items. I don't even have a couple of items I could possibly get rid of! My auntie FelicityMoosehead gave me those rusty scissors, sentimental value although I've never actually used them.

Alas I currently only have the honey in the house!

My car started immediately, in the ice, after having been stationary for over a month.
This is why I like it.

The only bits that aren't good on it are the fancy sensors. Bring back the basic and sensible in everything!

FuzzyPuffling · 07/01/2026 19:11

My favourite Snack With Cheese is a handful of almonds.

Swashbuckled · 07/01/2026 19:12

Yes, that will scupper things, Boiley.

Where are you putting all these items you’re chucking? It’s an impressive amount!

Taztoy · 07/01/2026 19:13

Peeks round door.

‘ello all.

Inky!!

Could you possibly get rid of some of the Moose gel or are they all completely full bottles.

That's 100 on top of the 1000 items last year! 30 pairs of pj bottoms went today.

ETA my hugging a Moose image hasnt appeared. Sad face

My favourite thing to have with cheese is more cheese.

I’ve worried about my car starting, Fuzzy, after all this snow. Probably a month since I’ve used it too… Very pleased to hear yours was fine.

A handful of almonds….sounds like one of those books about moving to Spain!

lcakethereforeIam · 07/01/2026 19:16

I'm with Swash re. digestive biscuits, can't stand them with cheese. Oatcakes have a similar sweet note, although it's been an age since I've had one so I might be misremembering, that I don't like with cheese. I do like cheddar on ginger biscuits though.

If nobody else likes water biscuits I don't mind finishing them off. Hopefully we'll get a fresh delivery tomorrow.

Currently bagged up in the back bedroom. My lovely cleaner will take them with her tomorrow. She never tells me what she does with them. I don't care if she sticks them straight in her house, straight in the bin or straight on vinted. As long as they leave my house she can do what she likes with them.

I can eat cheese with most types of not-too-sweet biscuits, including oatcakes, rich tea, abernethy or even gingernuts. If all else fails, bring out your last wedge of Christmas Cake, lop off the icing and have it with your cheese.

Then eat the icing 😬

I’d been wondering what the local views were on fruitcake with cheese.

Car- good. Hope yours is too. Mine' a 68 plate Honda Jazz. Less workhorse, more workpony.
Moving to Spain- no way. Never. 😁

Evening. I'll send a gerbil to take your order.

Glenda. Put down the gin you have a customer.

Swashbuckled · 07/01/2026 19:18

Fruitcake with cheese is a Yorkshire tradition, but it’s not one I understand really.

Looks like you've got three boots there Inky. You either need one more or you could get rid of them?
Also, nice to see you again!

Cheshire or Wensleydale with a slice of fruitcake. I keep meaning to try cheese melted on a slice. I suspect it'd be nice with Soreen.
