Welcome one and all. Quick précis - women's pub, rodent staff, apparently we're sane.

Oh no i remember them days was horrible battle of wills.

It's all gone quiet. I don't know if they've got to the given up and let him stay in the living room stage or the we've worn him down, he's given up and has gone to bed stage.

StarryCat · 16/01/2026 22:29

Just checking in to make sure I don't miss the move this time. Things move very quickly in the Blue Stocking, I have discovered.

MarieDeGournay · 16/01/2026 22:38

I'll start the new thread but only if I can re-use 'where everybody knows your username' cos I think it was the high point of my thread-title-naming and I'll never better itSmile

Go for it. You may need to add 'again'.

Britinme · 16/01/2026 23:13

If you do that I might have to change my username to Norminme in memory of George Wendt, who died last year.

Or 'still'?
OK I'll do it - tomorrow, as there are still 50 or so posts to go on this thread, and I don't think ever we could write 50+ notes in the space of one night!
That's NOT a challenge to you Britinme to write 50 posts because you're in a different timezone😄
'When it's night time in Italy, it's Wednesday over here'😁

G'night all x

Britinme · 17/01/2026 03:20

I really shouldn’t do that.

Britinme · 17/01/2026 03:21

Should I?

Britinme · 17/01/2026 03:22

So I won’t, thus leaving 47 posts, which you lot will undoubtedly have filled up by the time I wake up!

FuzzyPuffling · 17/01/2026 07:55

I'll help to fill it up, although I have nothing interesting to say.
Nope, I've thought about it, and definitely nothing interesting.

MarieDeGournay · 17/01/2026 10:36

Morning has broken, and you've all behaved impeccably, I see you wrestled with your conscience, Britinme😁

I remember an exchange in, I think, the House of Commons, where an MP said they had struggled long with their conscience before deciding how to vote, and an opponent remarked 'You struggled long with your conscience? It appears you won'😄

MarieDeGournay · 17/01/2026 10:45

Doing my quick and often patchy mental roll-call of Stockingers who I think haven't popped in for a wee while - Sionnach? how's things?
I found this video of some of your chums, a snow leopard cub, playing in the snow - lots of hiding, stalking, pouncing and getting totally ignored by either Mum or Older Sibling😄

That reminds me - in parts of Ireland, places like Cavan and Monaghan, a little boy is called 'a wee cub' Smile

FuzzyPuffling · 17/01/2026 10:49

I love that video of Snowie and mum. I think we've all felt like that at times!

EmpressaurusKitty · 17/01/2026 11:12

Snowdrops in Docklands!

Nowhere is safe from the beauty of natureSmile

Hellebore and snowdrops in my garden.

That's a very pretty hellebore, Fuzzy.

Actual snow on the ground again today 😞

FuzzyPuffling · 17/01/2026 13:40

There's been some weather talk about a possible Beast from the East in a week ish. Not guaranteed, as the weather models show some differences, but possible. Brrrr....

They were threatening that earlier this winter too. I suspect bored meteorologists.

I've seen the weather charts and summary from a normally very accurate source. It does look cold.

MarieDeGournay · 17/01/2026 13:50

Lovely, elegant blossoms, Fuzzy, and the pink looks summerySmile

I haven't heard any Snowmageddon- like predictions but as it's January, I suppose something like that is likely to happen.😕

Damson, I've invented a new category of object in your honour! a 'Damson's Hairbrush' is now any item that 99% of the time is exactly where you would expect to find it, and suddenly is nowhere to be seen.
My current Damson's Hairbrush is the kitchen scissors😠

I'm just back from my local supermarket where I asked them if they stocked Skyr. They don't, but they do have Kvarg. I wasn't sure whether I had strayed into a game of Scrabble, or of Assassin's Creed ValhallaGrin

My Damson's Hairbrush is some nail polishes. I bought one, loved the colour, bought another in case the first one ran out, put them in a box with others of the same make - & they've BOTH disdappeared from the box! And when I checked, so had two others I'm not so bothered about. I mean, how? When? Where?
