Welcome one and all. Quick précis - women's pub, rodent staff, apparently we're sane.

"Dean and the pineapple" inspired me this morning to root through my fridge and use up all the fruit, veg and other bits that had been lurking there since New Year. So I made a leek and potato soup with cheesy croutons, (there's enough left for tomorrow); blanched and froze some apples for future crumbles and made the last of the veg, plus mushrooms, into a prawn stir-fry this evening. So several meals, with no added cost and no food waste 😁

I thought it was a gnat’s whisker. I must be listening to the BBC too much, I don’t think I‘ve heard any gnatty references in real life.

Gaynor is delighted with her new haircut. Although she's slightly worried it might be a bit aging.

It's lovely to hear all the reports about snowdrops - I'm imagining a TV programme with various Stockingers dressed in warm clothes and one finger holding their earpiece in saying 'Yes I CAN confirm that snowdrops HAVE been spotted here...'
There'd be a big map in the studio and a little white light would light up as each new snowdrop report came in

And all the other plants too - Deano's aconites [I can hear Desmond Dekker singing Ooo ooo o o the Aconites😄] and hazel catkins and AsWith's lovely sorbus, and Britinme's snowdrops and crocuses and daffodils and tulips and hyacinths arriving like buses - you wait for one for ages and then they all turn up at once😁

There's a variety of aconite that's a softer yellow than the usual that I'd love to try in my garden. Doesn't seem to be available over here except as seeds on Etsy. I don't think they do well from seeds though, they're best planted like snowdrops 'in the green'.

That style is definitely not up to Glenda's usual standards.

I had one snowdrop in my front lawn before Christmas. (There used to be a small clump under a tree but that had to be removed and this is a stray survivor).

I’ve only heard of ‘gnat’s crotchet’ - a small unit of time employed by Humphrey Littleton and latterly Jack Dee in the assessment of ‘pickup song’ in I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue’.

Glenda has taken to drinking gin for breakfast. I think she needs to go into rehab.

I went in for a short back and sides the other day and came out bald thanks to Glenda forgetting to put a guard on the clippers!

I love snowdrops. I have an early variety that comes out at the end of December and the rest flower during February.
