Welcome one and all. Quick précis - women's pub, rodent staff, apparently we're sane.

If they're cold, they need socks.

I’m sure they’d have had warm socks on in their boots in the first picture. They’d have taken them off at the same time when they realised stomping on the bar in boots was so noisy, because the bar top is slippery.

How did you know?

My PJs are from Lands End. They use good cotton and do petite sizes so the legs are the right length for me. They do separate tops and bottoms if you need different sizes, and also tall I think. The current bottoms demonstrate that cute animals can wear red and white hats beyond Christmas.

They might do long, you say...?

I make tinned (ok jarred) caramel but we call it dulce de leche cos we is posh innit. Two cans of condensed milk divided between 3 half pint jars and the lids screwed on tight. Put them on their sides in a crockpot, cover with hot water from the tap and cook on low for 8 hours. I darent open one unless I’m going to use it because I just eat it with a spoon. It makes an excellent Christmas present though.

I'm puzzled here: how big are your tins of condensed milk that two of them provide enough for 3 half pint jars?

I really want to make this now. Is it that simple?

Taztoy · 08/01/2026 09:45

Do you need to cover the jars? Because that would be a fab present in pretty jars.

I’m glad you asked; I was wondering too! ☺️

Surely the gerbils should know by now that Wednesday is the day when they go shopping and have buttered scones for tea.

'It's Wednesday today??'

I had that problem this morning. No, it's Thursday today.

I have two things on my to-do list that I really don't want to do. I may spend all day deciding in what order, and with what excuses, I'm going to ignore them. But then I'll have them hanging over me when I wake up at 3a.m tomorrow morning. Damn and blast!

Popping in a bit late for the discussion but I find lots of Aveeno helps my eczema, as does evening primrose + starflower oil capsules. They were recommended to me about 20 years ago and I’ve used them ever since. The Aveeno was trial and error.

Pyjama top only in bed, then bottoms when I get up - can’t stand fabric round my hips!

Average norkage although I was fried eggs at university ( all women were judged on the McDonald’s scale 🙄) and only achieved average after putting tons of weight on after my third child. Not an incentive to lose weight is it?!

Taztoy · 08/01/2026 11:08

Aveeno is my go to as well.

Has anyone else ever been trapped in a bra? Their own, I should clarify..

Yesterday morning I put on a new bra - sports style, racer back and, unusually for that style, adjustable straps.
When I put it on I noticed that it was very tight around the ribs, which was a red flag but it wasn't until I tried to take it off last night that I realised it was so tight I couldn't take the bra off. I was trapped.

I couldn't pull it over my head because the elasticated bit was so tight; I couldn't slip the straps down over my shoulders because they were attached to the middle of the racer-style back. Trapped😱

The thought of calling 999 and having a team of firemen cutting me out of my bra did not appeal😁so I looped a scarf through the back and bit by bit raised it up far enough to be able to pull it over my head and eventually after much struggle - freedom!

In retrospect I should just have taken a scissors to it, as it's unwearable anyway.

Living as a woman, eh?😏

lcakethereforeIam · 08/01/2026 11:34

Oh, poor Marie Flowers😂

I too want to know how big these tins are. Also, how do you boil sealed containers without them exploding?

I've been very averse to pressure cooking since childhood. My mum got one but the first time she used it we wound up with a stain on the kitchen ceiling and a pressure cooker with a rounded base like a wok.

Do them now. Do them quickly. Then have a treat for being amazing. And you will feel a warm glow all day instead of guilt.

I promise to do them after lunch, scout's honour.

I have been out to do some (heavy) shopping, in the rain. Still, at least it was only rain.

FarriersGirl · 08/01/2026 12:37

Oh no Marie - that is awful although it made me laugh as well. As a woman living alone who is a 'busty lass' that is one of my secret fears 🙁Glad you managed to free yourself. I know its only Thursday lunchtime but I think I need a G & T. I have been following a thread that has turned into a dizzying gish gallop.....

American pints have 16 fl oz. A can of condensed milk has 12 fl oz.

Yes you do need to have tight fitting lids (I use mason jars) but if I’m giving them as a gift I cover the lids with some nice fabric one they’ve al, dried out and cooled down.

Yes it really is that simple.

Britinme · 08/01/2026 13:12

@icakethereforeiamthe jars don’t explode in the crockpot because I do them on low so it’s prolonged low heat, not boiling.

lcakethereforeIam · 08/01/2026 13:14

Did you see the MN style and beauty thread about getting trapped in a jumpsuit?

On another matter, what do you get when you cross an incel with a capitalist? Someone who puts property ownership above the safety etc etc of women.
