Sex Matters, a charity that campaigns for single-sex rights, will argue that the City of London Corporation is breaching equality law by allowing trans women to use Kenwood Ladies’ Pond on Hampstead Heath.

Hearing this Wednesday.

It would seem that she's been diplomatic all along, so as to keep things smooth in the workplace, whilst knowing that he's a man; either that, or she feared being monstered. Everyone will have known, including him.

He is a selfish little sausage, he has no insight into the stress he's put her through constantly, tiptoeing across eggshells, having to pretend, so as not to cause a ruckus. Now she's mistergendered him, he's only weeping, because he's realised that everyone knows and thinks that he's a man.

selfish little sausage has really made me laugh 😆

SinnerBoy · 11/02/2026 15:00

Glad to have raised a smile!

In the de Beauvoir sense he might have an accidental point (not that he's the first fucking clue about what she actually meant).

Being female, however, is born not worn, chummy.

Well yes. I "performed" my first period (and all those after that) I "performed" pregnancy and childbirth and motherhood.
I "performed" being raped and abused. Being harrased at work and on the streets, the bus, the park...
Such fun. Take a bow.
They really do think womanhood is wearing makeup and pretty clothes, and simpering, don't they?

Wondering if yesterday’s GLP v EHRC judgement makes any difference to what could happen at the ponds?

I had a quick look through the consultation responses and couldn’t see any issues raised about trans men in the men’s pond. (Obviously lots of issues raised about having trans women in the women’s pond). So looks like it could be legal for the men’s pond to be ‘men + trans men’. Based on what the judge said yesterday, a woman wouldn’t have a direct discrimination claim because she’s got the woman’s pond. And men seem unlikely to claim indirect discrimination.

But the women’s pond should be single-sex otherwise risk of indirect discrimination against women.

At least that’s what I’ve taken from the judgement. Any thoughts?

Do you use the ponds? What are the toilet and changing room arrangements?

71Alex · 14/02/2026 14:52

I've only used the women's - open plan changing area and showers, a few cubicles for more private changing. If the men's is similar, I assume they'd need to alter it to satisfy the regulations so it's suitable for both sexes.

SinnerBoy · 21/02/2026 09:38

Let's hope that they are granted permission here.

Stumbled across this article in the Metro

Trans people like me are rightly welcome at Hampstead Ladies’ Pond | News UK | Metro News https://share.google/WhSOHQTv0542J9c6k

Although it's a few weeks old I've not seen it before. Despite the bias of the bloke that wrote it at the time I posted the vast majority of the people who tapped on the survey didn't seem to be buying his nonsense. That may change if our resident tras sound the transphonia. Funny that there's a survey but I couldn't see any comments allowed.

The headline, I think, is wrong. At the moment only trans identifying men, like the author, would be allowed. As I understand it women who claim to be trans wouldn't.

Justme56 · 17/03/2026 10:58

That’s good news. It will be interesting to see what their arguments are, considering the changing room and shower situation.

borntobequiet · 17/03/2026 11:00

Good news.

ConstanzeMozart · 17/03/2026 11:03

Just gave them a tenner.

highame · 17/03/2026 11:04

Yaay. Well done for staying the course, it paid off

DontStopMe · 17/03/2026 11:15

Good news. I have donated.
I saw their 'consultation' and it was unbelievably biased.

teawamutu · 17/03/2026 11:22

I've donated too, on top of my monthly sub.

Very pleased to read Sex Matters' statement about the overturning of the earlier decision!

It's great news, but isn't it ...something-or-another.... that two distinguished justices can disagree with each other so thoroughly:

Mrs Justice Lieven: 'They have no standing'
Lady Justice Elisabeth Laing: 'Oh yes they have!'
Mrs Justice Lieven: 'Their challenge is too early - no wait, it is too late - no wait, it's both.
Lady Justice Elisabeth Laing 'Oh no it's not!'
😄

I suppose that's the self-correcting nature of the system of justice in action, and fair play to it for being able to overrule itself and make good errors or miscarriages of justice. That's 'make good' errors, not 'make good errors, although...🤔

It takes a lot - time, money, heartbreak - to get the 'Oh no it's not!' stage, though, doesn't it? Thank heavens for crowdfunding and groups like Sex Matters.

It is literally a bloody pantomime, isn't it

lcakethereforeIam · 17/03/2026 11:28

Oh no it isn't! Although, men in wigs and gowns? TiMs and/or judges? Perhaps it is.

moto748e · 17/03/2026 11:35

Top work from SM. Such an important point of principle here.

SidewaysOtter · 17/03/2026 11:40

Good. Let's drag all the nonsense out into the sunlight of a judicial review.

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 17/03/2026 12:21

Was very pleased to get the email through this morning.

Lilyfreedom · 17/03/2026 12:34

Interesting. It appears there is a distinction between "expert legal charites" (i.e. charities whose aims are reflective of the area they seek to JR) and the likes of the GLP. I wonder if Jo will set up "Jo's trans GLP" to get himself into that category?

CriticalCondition · 17/03/2026 12:43

Such good news.

What a contrast between Sex Matters and the GLP. It's almost as if one were a serious charity retaining grown-up lawyers which has the respect and recognition of the courts and the other is a personal grift.
