Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Sexism/other issues in the Green party England & Wales - Discussion Thread 2

Zack Polanski is making things bigger again.

We need a new thread to discuss all his antics and the ongoing situation in the Green party which is getting more ever more bizarre. While it is getting ever strident in denying biology it also has Mothin Ali as deputy Leader who clearly doesn't believe in trans thinking, but cleverly sidesteps round talking about it.

The fight back from Green Women's Declaration,(https://www.greenwomensdeclaration.uk/ ) continues and the court cases against GPEW from Emma Bateman and Shahrar Ali are developing.

In Bristol the Women of Wessex are causing panic amongst the ruling Green council just by turning up and asking questions. This may result in another court case.
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5455053-bristol-council-is-about-to-be-sued

With local elections in May and elections in Wales incoming lots more to discuss and call out.

First thread - where you can follow the rise of Hypno Boobs:
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5328986-greens-internal-drama-warms-up

Note the Scottish Greens which are a separate party to the Green Party England/Wales have their own thread for all their drama. They split off because GPEW didn't hate biology enough at the time.

As a therapist myself, more complementary than new age, it's fascinating as to how the frothy end of alternative thinking which when I was training as considered ideologically low brow, non scientific, frankly overly emotional, and not incorporated by the structures that governed us and ran our institutions, has been adopted or co-opted wholesale by frankly faulty thinking elites.
The push to bring your best life to work? Back in the non brain dead time, it was are you qualified, can you fit in?
The very idea, concept, that not only can one change sex, but that others must agree, and no dissent can be broached? Not so much you'd be struck off for malpractice, but you wouldn't ever have qualified to begin with as a doctor or biologist, any kind of scientist, social scientist etc.
And championing the end of free speech, you'd have no future in the arts, politics, journalism, writing etc.
Sure there was a real trudge for women, gays, the disabled etc to get and entrench their rights, but the rigour of thinking in public life meant that these groups had to argue hard, and convince, and win out.
Today? Watching the wacky end of the New Age and subjective 101 different "truths" win out at the highest levels of science, medicine, academia, the arts, politics, journalism etc, in its wake dumbing down the discourse on everything, feels like a jump the shark moment for the liberal Enlightenment West.
On the one side, the reaction to Trump and his artistic destruction of norms, on the other, the whole of elite society ostensibly opposed to everything Trump and his worldview stands for, also trashing norms.
Left and right are fucked.
All of us are in the middle, in the middle ground that the right and left poles having vaporised, is leaving as a vacuum.

I mean I yield to nobody in my distaste for Scientology, but you can't practice entryism in Scientology. They have an extremely authoritarian organisation that's set up to prevent that sort of thing.

If you're an attractive young woman with a phone, it's childishly easy to become a WitchTok influencer. You don't even need more than a surface level knowledge of witchcraft or occultism, because 80% of the time you'll be talking about Trump.

😁

I'd eat my witches hat if the Wiccans I knew were not in a state of apoplexy over the genderpish takeover. They were deep thinkers, well read, 'seekers', and genuinely open minded, if sometimes susceptible to rabbit holes.

Honestly, the most sensible course of action right now is probably solitary hedge bothering.

I had a real feel of groupthink from the room.
As if being anti Christian and anti scientific method and pro subjectivity and pro no such thing as one objective truth meant de facto that trans ideology is a perfect fit.
The struggle of pagans and witches burnt at the stake by religious zealots and those proclaiming science over all, now reflected in the struggle for the very right to exist for trans people. Their disappearing by modern day witch hunters like JKR, Richard Dawkins, Donald Trump etc means that the trans battle should be the battle of neo paganists and New Agers everywhere.

Noticeably no mention of one of the biggest crazy things that many Greens think which Labour could target in elections. That there is no such thing as biology.

I think that Emma Bateman is on Free Speech Nation on GB News this evening.

Scottish Greens have decided that, under Zack's leadership, GPEW (Green Party of England and Wales) hate women enough for them to restore links with the Party.

Absolutely. Slick videos and acting skills do not make a good politician. But they'll be enough to convince people who are desperate for someone to promise them easy answers.

I see it as the other side of the coin to a Reform protest vote. A left wing “please not Labour or the right” vote.

Lib Dems did very well in the general election, and I doubt the average voter could remember anything from their campaign except for Ed Davey on a spacehopper.

I can't imagine Zack would do well under serious scrutiny from an interviewer like Andrew Neil. But if he's not going to be PM, he can coast by pretty well on vibes, and he's very good at vibes.

ArabellaSaurus · 26/01/2026 08:32

I look forward to more of Zack's music videos. I mean promos. What's he going to do next, any guesses? Parklife? Wonderexternalwallinsulation?

🚨 NEW: Greens Deputy Leader Mothin Ali is considering standing in the Gorton and Denton by-election

Almost a third of the population there is Muslim. Unless Galloway pops up (and you can never rule him out) then Mothin may put in a good performance.

Mothin Ali should be questioned about his views on TWAW over and over until he can't avoid giving an answer.

Politics is so fucked currently, that even the Greens, formerly so lacking in scandal and outright hypocrisy, are now guilty of exactly the same games that the big boys play.

Hopefully some local women will turn up and do that. Ask all the candidates do they support the puberty blockers experiment and the supreme court verdict as well.

The only people who won't ask are the media. The very people we used to rely on to at least try and hold politicians to account.

Lalgarh · 26/01/2026 15:41

Maybe ask if he agrees with Polanski on the legalization of hard drugs, and what the carbon footprint of that is.

Edited

Maybe he can argue for Polanski's policy on boob jobs to be rolled out, saving is all that unneeded silicone.

Let's hope someone also has the guts to question him about his track record of virulent anti-Semitism.
