Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Sexism/other issues in the Green party England & Wales - Discussion Thread 2

1000 replies

fromorbit · 08/12/2025 14:07

Zack Polanski is making things bigger again.

We need a new thread to discuss all his antics and the ongoing situation in the Green party which is getting more ever more bizarre. While it is getting ever strident in denying biology it also has Mothin Ali as deputy Leader who clearly doesn't believe in trans thinking, but cleverly sidesteps round talking about it.

The fight back from Green Women's Declaration,(https://www.greenwomensdeclaration.uk/ ) continues and the court cases against GPEW from Emma Bateman and Shahrar Ali are developing.

In Bristol the Women of Wessex are causing panic amongst the ruling Green council just by turning up and asking questions. This may result in another court case.

With local elections in May and elections in Wales incoming lots more to discuss and call out.

First thread - where you can follow the rise of Hypno Boobs:

Note the Scottish Greens which are a separate party to the Green Party England/Wales have their own thread for all their drama. They split off because GPEW didn't hate biology enough at the time.

Rachel Millward is on question time. She's doing her cats bum face while Reforms Zia Yusuf brings up the "perception" comments

fromorbit · 01/05/2026 04:54

Deputy Millward describes the racist Green candidates as "abhorrent" on Question Time. Very different stance to Mothin.

Also ducks away from defending ZPs comments.

Slaughter the Welsh Green Leader also criticises ZP

The Wales Greens leader has criticised Zack Polanski, who heads the party in England, for sharing a social media post which condemned the police's handling of the Golders Green attack.

teresa smith (@treesey) on X

Excruciating for Rachel Millward - a co deputy leader of The Green Party with Mothin Ali - speaking just a short while ago on @bbcquestiontime. She is asked about the racist Green candidates and the @metpoliceuk Chief’s letter to Polanski: (2 clips)

'The Greens also declined to act after it emerged the councillor had never actually joined the party despite being elected under its banner, meaning no disciplinary action could be taken.'
..
'In a subsequent post, councillor Catt also criticised Norwich City Council for not flying the trans flag at City Hall on the Trans Day of Visibility.'

Bloody hell.

ArabellaSaurus · 01/05/2026 08:08

'However, he had got the wrong date - and the flag was flown the following day.'

😶

You missed the best bit that the article actually goes on to say

In a subsequent post, councillor Catt also criticised Norwich City Council for not flying the trans flag at City Hall on the Trans Day of Visibility.

However, he had got the wrong date - and the flag was flown the following day.

Eh? How did she manage that - do the Greens not even know who their candidates are??

And they think they could run the country 😱😱

ArabellaSaurus · 01/05/2026 11:28

They believe people are who they say they are, I suppose.

😶

And then doubled down in a reply when told it was the wrong day that Labour "should reflect" on putting the flag up??

Very Polanski

SionnachRuadh · 01/05/2026 12:55

Have they allowed Mothin onto QT yet? Or is Rachel being delegated to appear on media where an unthreatening Libdemmy style might be an advantage, while Mothin talks to YouTube channels with an interest in Alan's Snackbar?

Alex catt is still showing as part of the green party on his twitter

Excellent article by Janice Turner. Thanks for sharing @Igneococcus

Lalgarh · 01/05/2026 20:24

Thanks @Igneococcus

I Have also pasted that on another thread.

Well he's certainly doing his business in the new attention economy. Thanks to his hijacking of the attack there's now swathes of users who think he's at best a charlatan if not actively malevolent.

He has apparently offered to meet with the Met chief. Such largesse

It's an article that should be shared far and wide. I'm happy to generate more share tokens when this one lapses.

A lot of this derives from the kind of municipal politics that Labour has been playing for decades in certain urban areas (and the Lib Dem and Tories where they could sniff a Labour weakness), and it depends on saying different things to different audiences and hoping nobody notices.

As part of my due diligence I've been checking out Newham Independents. I was surprised to see that their manifesto doesn't seem to mention Palestine anywhere but has loads of detail condemning Newham Council's war on motorists. Their election broadcast has mayoral candidate Mehmood Mirza proclaiming himself the socialist alternative to Labour and embracing Corbyn.

But, because I'm cynical, I'm highly aware that this non-sectarian material is all in English, and fuck knows what they're saying in Bangla or Urdu. Because their voting base in the borough contains a lot of people with limited English, that might be significant.

Same goes for the Greens. I don't object to them having multilingual leaflets in diverse urban areas, but I'd like to know what they're saying. I'm not saying I don't trust them, but... well, I don't trust them.

Imagine, to those whose English is non existent, you talk about Gaza 24/7, and to those whose Urdu is non existent you talk about gender self ID and decriminilizing Class A drugs.

'Polanski knows exactly what he’s doing. No political leader has ever been so immersed in social media, its codes and language, its sleights of hand. When the Economist analysed his presence on Bluesky, it found he obsessively searches his own name, “liking” around 35,000 posts a month, including anything decrying his critics, particularly journalists who press him hard.'

Crikey. Either its him or he's paying someone to foment the cult.

ArabellaSaurus · 01/05/2026 21:50

I mean thats over a thousand posts a day.

Does Bluesky even have that many daily posts? Or is he just liking Jo Maugham's over and over again?

I mean, I love Mumsnet, but even I wouldn't look at 1k posts on here daily, lol.

SionnachRuadh · 01/05/2026 22:42

So if I'm reading rightly, Zack goes to Hastings - a place where the Greens, supported by Your Party, run the council - and he wants us to believe that people were randomly sieg heiling at him.

I'll take "things that never happened" for $500, Alex.

I sort of feel sorry for Sarah Sackman for getting heckled in Golders Green - she's the local MP, it's her community, she's very low down the list of people responsible for the state of the country - but the Jewish community right now is scared and angry, and Sackers appearing on the scene and immediately wibbling on about the far right seemed to be very much pointing away from the real problem.

I mean there is plenty of far right antisemitism - it's easy to find online, particularly among Rupert Lowe fans on X - but the people being arrested for antisemitic attacks IRL don't seem to be part of that demographic.

I would challenge Zack to go to Golders Green. I don't think he would get a warm reception. As far as the mainstream Jewish community goes, he's at serious risk of becoming as much of a pariah as Michael Rosen.

Igneococcus · 01/05/2026 19:44

She’s definitely a gifted journalist.

For the parasitic Corbynite entity that left its Labour host under Starmer, the Green Party is its greatest hope of glory. Its face is no longer a sour seventysomething allotment holder nor a messianic George Galloway, it is the fluffy, friendly CBeebie-ish Hannah Spencer or the party’s other deputy, head-girl posho Rachel Millward, who told Question Time antisemitic attacks were caused by rising prices. Not Islamists or Iranians roused to jihad by their London embassy, nor years of Hamas banners urging “globalise the intifada”, but a hike in the Tesco Meal Deal.
