Sexism/other issues in the Green party England & Wales - Discussion Thread 2

Zack Polanski is making things bigger again.

We need a new thread to discuss all his antics and the ongoing situation in the Green party which is getting more ever more bizarre. While it is getting ever strident in denying biology it also has Mothin Ali as deputy Leader who clearly doesn't believe in trans thinking, but cleverly sidesteps round talking about it.

The fight back from Green Women's Declaration,(https://www.greenwomensdeclaration.uk/ ) continues and the court cases against GPEW from Emma Bateman and Shahrar Ali are developing.

In Bristol the Women of Wessex are causing panic amongst the ruling Green council just by turning up and asking questions. This may result in another court case.

With local elections in May and elections in Wales incoming lots more to discuss and call out.

First thread - where you can follow the rise of Hypno Boobs:

Note the Scottish Greens which are a separate party to the Green Party England/Wales have their own thread for all their drama. They split off because GPEW didn't hate biology enough at the time.

Well, I see Tony Greenstein has been allowed to join GPEW. Party members who are unfamiliar with Uncle Tony are in for some rare entertainment.

The High Court decided that it is not libellous to describe Tony Greenstein as a “notorious antisemite”.

Of course shamelessness can get you a long way.

Here is the Sun doing what the Sun does, and using the Grand National as a jumping off point to mention Zack wanting to ban horse racing.

Zack, probably sensibly, doesn't deny his position, he just complains about the coverage.

Where I think Zack is a bit cheeky is complaining about the coverage on the basis that GPEW's local election launch was talking about the important issues of housing and rent. Well... sort of, but they were also talking rather a lot about Israel, which is not within the purview of local government, but is a useful subject to talk about if you want to attract a certain demographic group

Stakeholder Consultant (@echetus): "Polanski doesn’t deny he wants to ban horse (because he does) but just complains about the coverage. This is a sensible strategy - a lot of people leaning Green are for the Vibes - people who get their politics from GCSE Geography and Instagram." | XCancel

Edited

Bad enough being an anti semite, but a "notorious" one to boot, is quite the accolade. Maybe he'll lead the Zionism Is Racism motion at Conference later in the year?

ArabellaSaurus · 10/04/2026 13:42

Or whatever the hell process the Scottish Greens use to select candidates.

Drawing straws in the support group for boys who got kicked out of the local dungeons and dragons?

AnneWhittle · 10/04/2026 20:18

I just saw the GP party political broadcast
it was dire
despite being supposedly about the local elections its main focus was Westminster, filmed outside the HoP with ZP and Hannah chatting about how the people 'in there' had no idea and how its always been dominated by a 2 party system- but no longer! And Hannah (forgot her last name) talking about how ordinary she was and how, because she was a plumber and ordinary, and worked for ordinary people who had leaks, they voted for her.

there was NO mention or explanation of any actual green policies and NO explanation of how they might be applied to local government

We linked to it earlier in the thread. It is very interesting indeed. The guy involved actually thinks biology might be a thing as well.

FT report

What happens when the Green Party governs?
Despite Zack Polanski’s radical ‘ecopopulism’, England’s handful of Green-run councils have hit political and fiscal reality
https://www.ft.com/content/cf1f0a55-7831-4b37-baa8-82a97c1295e4?syn-25a6b1a6=1

Jones, also chief secretary to the prime minister, pointed to the council’s decision to charge fees for commercial use of the Downs, a huge area of protected parkland in the city, including for dog walkers and fitness groups. The party also came under fire last year for floating the sale of 1,200 council homes; Polanski on Thursday launched the Green local election campaign bemoaning a shortage of social housing and called for rent controls. In Bristol, the council also fielded plans — now aborted — to halve the budget for local libraries, mothball three museums, and sell off a council-owned television and film production facility called Bottle Yard Studios.

Gotta say, some days I look at the front page of Times Politics and think even Intel Lady couldn't keep up with our national clownshow

There's lots of sunlight now on Polanski's crew, but I'm not sure it's acting much as a disinfectant. No sign any of this is blunting their appeal.

I've only come just across The Green Party Exposed X account. Definitely one to follow.
https://x.com/ExposedGreens

I just caught up on this. The candidates listed on there are horrifying. I'm truly gobsmacked. Candidates openly supporting terrorism. Wtaf.

SionnachRuadh · 16/04/2026 15:12

Meanwhile, a deep dive into GPEW's immigration and asylum policies, which even if you're super liberal on immigration might seem a bit unrealistic, and which seem absolutely insane when taken together with their proposed cap on house building.

max tempers (@maxtempers): "Excl: Tempers Daily has obtained internal Green Party projections estimating that migration could reach 5 MILLION a year under their policies, with a central estimate of 2.4 million annually. This is three times higher than projections reported in The Telegraph earlier this week." | XCancel

I'm reading Dominic Sandbrook's two books covering politics in the 70s, and the batshit crazy stuff happening and being proposed for the future back in 75/76 isn't so far removed from this.

Tell me that's a joke? That cannot be real! 😧

BettyBooper · 16/04/2026 15:51

Do people have any idea what they're voting for? Surely most people voting Green don't think this is a good idea??!

No. Most people do not have a scooby.

A vague awareness of a few high profile campaigns perhaps. Zack says 'tax the billionaires', and that is enough for most.

Others will be supportive of environmental policies, or worried about climate change, and mistakenly believe the GP are going to do something about that.

I'm seeing lots of Vote Green posters popping up near me. I cannot believe my neighbours know this and think it's a good plan.

I mean vote however you want, but I genuinely do not get how anyone could think this is not suicidal.

X post - the thing is, it's so bonkers that if you say anything, you sound like you're the nut case 🤯

@BettyBooper yes, the extreme example being Glinner, paying the price for being correct too soon.

Theres been such a general degradation of standards and behaviours in our public institutions. However it appears that the general public hasn’t yet cottoned on that incidents like Post Office Horizon cover up are not rare but symptoms of widespread corporate corruption. Previously trusted organisations, like the PO, BBC, police are demonstrated time and again to act badly but I think there’s complacency in the general public thinking “they” would never “let” bonkers things happen as it’s clearly ridiculous.

I mean, the cognitive dissonance must be quite alarming for them. You’ve only got to look at the current occupant of the White House acting so far out of established norms and conventions for that office, but media and the public are reacting and reporting as if he’s a rational human being.
