Welcome to The Bluestocking, the perfectly overblown, gloriously chaotic all-women’s pub where you can have a bit of a lie down if you need it.

Expect serious debates on musicals, cake and knitting, and whimsical musings on women’s rights and why the world’s on fire (again), all under the calm supervision of our support staff: gerbils, capybaras, and the occasional quokka on secondment.

The alcohol won’t get you drunk, the pastries won’t make you fat, but the conversation will digress, and that’s the point.

Remember to namechange before posting if you’re sometimes someone else.

One panel member gone for dubious reasons not related to the accusations put. Judge and other panel member have declined to recuse themselves.

Case continues on Monday without a replacement on the panel.

Magpiecomplex · 14/11/2025 17:16

Afternoon all. Hot chocolate bowser, a large slab (technical term) of battenburg, and a footrest please. Wake me up if I fall asleep in my cake.

Boiledbeetle · 14/11/2025 15:10

I did try out rKathySu on her but she just looked at me blankly and went back to purring, for want of a better description, as Germoleen scratched behind her ears.

How about Kasy-Ruth? It's a bit yooneek in terms of spelling, and MN generally doesn't approve of hyphenated first names, but it might work.

DeanElderberry · 14/11/2025 17:25

Kasy-Ruth is excellent. She still sounds a little American but that is good, so far our beasts are European, Asian and Australian. I like Kasie the NCIS character.

Isn't it lovely to know, Myrtle, that even though the Bluestocking community is 'only' virtual, and we don't know each other in real life, the support and camaraderie are very real. And sometimes represented by a hamsterSmile
And you've become synonymous with tribunal transcribing, Myrtle - did you notice that when your posting suddenly stopped the other day, the reaction was 'Where's Myrtle?' 'What happened?' 'Is she OK?' 'Myrtle, hope you are OK'
so it's not just the Stockingers who careSmile💙

I did! And it was because I didn't press Post on a note saying I had an urgent situation to deal with. It was lovely to know I was missed.

I think I'm coming across as the poster who always believes the last thing she's read but Kasy-Ruth is good.

Better than our Kathy-Sue.

Does the rat like it?

Why do you all hate anagrams?

I don't know why anyone would hate having an anagram for a name, Barrel Eyed Nerd DeanElderberry😁

MarieDeGournay · 14/11/2025 18:16

DeanElderberry · 14/11/2025 12:58

sorry (ish) to intrude real life, but as a northsider can I take this moment to say hooray for Pope Leo https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2025/1114/1543972-dublin-pro-cathedral/

The southside already has two cathedrals, that is enough for them.

Yes but they are both Anglican cathedrals - two Protestant cathedrals and nary a Catholic one in Dublin!

A friend of mine's grandfather used to suggest, in all innocence and earnestness, that it would be a nice gesture if the Church of Ireland gave one of them to us.. I'm not sure, but he may actually have said gave one back to us, as if the Reformation only happened a couple of years ago😄

Magpiecomplex · 14/11/2025 18:17

Mental note, when BarrelEyedNerd pops up on the next thread, you'll know not to bother with the Tigger welcome, Marie!

Ah, but I started life as Dean Volecape, and got the Elderberry tag after people took a look at my 'garden'.

Though Barrel-Eyed Nerd does sound like a title to aspire to.

I’ve been looking at the BBC NI news page, to see how the tribunal is being reported. Nick Wallis says their reporting on this is good. It’s going to be on their 6:30pm local news programme.

While I was viewing a news summary on that page earlier today, my eye was drawn to this. It’s a good news story about the return of members of @FuzzyPuffling ’s wider family to the Isle of Muck. Oh, and Clive Myrie has just said it’s going to be on the main 6pm news soon.

Less good news about rats, but I don’t think it’s anything at all to do with our HR’s wider family.

I am developing a Twitter refresh RSI this week.

Hope you don’t mind me joining, I didn’t realise this case was being followed on this thread. I have full faith in NC, if she didn’t turn up to court this am it must be a cracker of a revelation.

Hello biteybpob, you're very welcome to the Bluestocking.
We don't usually discuss tribunals much here - we are v active on the relevant threads - it's just that today was such a WTAF moment that it couldn't be ignored!

You're welcome to stay for all the other non-tribunal stuff that we get up to - lots of animals, lots of knitting, a surprising number of tractors, plenty of laughs and a lot of support when real life interrupts the fun and games.
And anything else brought along by newbies to add to the ambianceSmile

Trying to pack up for my wet holiday on the boat to no avail as keep having to log in to the tribunal. No time to stop and will be away, from tomorrow until Friday

You are the very definition of intrepid, Hedgie!!
Have a great holiday, I hope most of the water stays below and not above.
'Full sails and tight lines' - completely wrong but hey it sounds marine😁
edited to substitute 'maritime' but that's probably not relevant either, you're not heading out on the ocean, are you?

AsWithGlad · 14/11/2025 18:45

BBC Newsline (NI local news) has just reported on the tribunal.

I’m not quite sure when it started, it wasn’t the first item, but ended about 9 minutes into the broadcast.

It’s now repeating the item about Puffins which has just been shown on the main news. Perhaps that broadcast is different depending on where you’re watching from: I hadn’t realised that.

Boiledbeetle · 14/11/2025 18:47

Oh Glenda! You failed to name change!

Sigh. You need to click on image.

I like the way Marie the Merry Iguana is clearly declaiming the ode in that image.

I prefer being an iguana to being a 16th-17th century French philosopher etc etc with a frock and a ruff and - as depicted by Android recently - a tapestry handbag!
But I realise that I made my bed by picking MdeG as my username, and now I must lie in it - the punk angel image just didn't stick, did it?<sigh>
TBH, I think I look more like an iguana than this!😁

That’s a very fine tattoo on your chest, @MarieDeGournay. So lifelike.
