199 Days Later national day of action

I just wanted to draw your attention to the march planned for the 1st November in London. The organisers have now announced that there will be a 199 Days Later demo in Edinburgh, Scottish Parliament, and a demo in Cardiff, the Senedd, at the same time. Hopefully lots more women can now attend the closest action to them.

Googling gives me nothing. Have you a link? What's this about? What was 199 days previous to the action day?

Yes, November 1st will be 199 days since the Supreme Court Ruling. The march/demo is about the lack of action from the government in adhering to it. There is a twitter account with all the information @acts_grassroots

You dont give any details about the London event.

Dont wont to sound too grumpy but I am on lots of women's networks and it isn't being shared widely. And also very hard to read. And for some visual impairments impossible.

Why are so many women's groups deliberately not communicating with other women by only using X which is one of the least used platforms?

These women are doing this off their own backs, in their own time and with no money - they are not part of a bigger, more organised group. Perhaps if it is not for you, then you could organise your own event.

I'm not saying its not for me.

I was suggesting that just advertising on X isn't really outreach.

But if the event is just for those who know each other, that's their choice. I was responding to it being called a national march.

And again I am not attacking the women, but just a reminder than any number of events are organised by a small number of women, who on thinking about how to reach other women which is the busiest media platform.

It's absolutely not just 'for women who know each other'. The group have said it's open to every woman and every group. X is sometimes the only platform available to women, other platforms are sometimes reserved for family and friends. In the national women's groups I'm in, it's being shared widely. I'm sharing it on here to reach those not on X...and now you know about it.

Could you give some details about the London March? I'm on X and I've only seen about the Scottish one, but you're right to post on here.

It is now a national day of action after women in Edinburgh and Cardiff joined host their own 199 Days Later events. All events will happen simultaneously in the three different countries of England, Scotland and Wales.

Originally it was a March in London on the 1st Nov, 1om - meeting at Parliament Square - there will be a march, followed by planned speeches.

Now there is also Cardiff - a demo at the Senedd with planned speeches, 1st Nov- 1pm and

Edinburgh - a demo with planned speeches at the Scottish Parliament, Nov 1st, 1pm

All women and the different organised groups of women are welcome to attend and bring their own banners and voices.

Yes indeed. Wasn't posted to put anyone off, but just for awareness and readiness.

Though probably expected, sadly.

I was planning to go to the Edinburgh one but I may well change my mind if there’s a risk of violence. I’m not getting any younger! How awful though that in my favourite city I now fear for my safety. However, deeds not words and a’ that.

The organising group in each location have been liaising very closely with the police. There is also going to be a press presence in Edinburgh.

Is there a way of having a meet up in advance, so that it will seem less intimidating if you are going on your own.

But sympathise with your feelings. Which sadly shows why men continue to threaten and actually are violent.

Hi girls, I am thinking about coming on Saturday to the London gathering but I can't see much information online. Would anyone be able to tell me what will be happening? I am feeling so worried about this rise of anti-woman trans stuff, especially for my young children...
