I just wanted to draw your attention to the march planned for the 1st November in London. The organisers have now announced that there will be a 199 Days Later demo in Edinburgh, Scottish Parliament, and a demo in Cardiff, the Senedd, at the same time. Hopefully lots more women can now attend the closest action to them.

Women brought banners and held speeches, exercised their democratic right to protest.

Men stripped off, caused noise nuisance, fought police.

Nothing like these protests to illustrate the two sides of the argument.

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 01/11/2025 15:55

Shame about the second last word of that headline…

ArabellaSaurus · 01/11/2025 15:59

'In April, the Supreme Court ruled that the term "women" refers to biological sex, rather than gender identity, leading to mass disgruntlement across Britain within the pro-trans community'

Disgruntlement, eh?

WaterThyme · 01/11/2025 16:06

Does anyone know if there’s any video of the speakers and where I can watch it? I was there and there were great speakers but parts were hard to hear.

Indeed!

Protest is led by men. No one wanted to talk. Many were heavily masked.

Roisin Murphy joined the 199DaysLaterMarch in London to demand the government adhere to the Supreme Court's ruling on Single Sex Spaces.

I gather they’re all in a pub with a boat load of sailors 😂

Yep! A great event! We could even hear the speakers!

MelOfTheRoses · 01/11/2025 17:26

I have been watching on TwitteX and everyone seems to have had a great time.

Amazing banners.

Shout out to the Cardiff group who had to put up with bad policing and noise. Fortunately, London and Edinburgh police showed what they could do!

Helleofabore · 01/11/2025 17:29

In London, we could hear some background noise from them, but we had a microphone and there was a building between the groups.

We really did walk past them and I don’t think many of us paid them much attention.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 01/11/2025 17:37

Anyone know if the cabaret of hate tried to repeat his one man misogyny fest?

WaterThyme · 01/11/2025 17:44

I should have said I meant Edinburgh. The police did their job well this time. There were only a handful of counter-protesters.

Disgruntlement, eh?

I did enjoy how the gruntle was dissed.

It is gradually getting clearer that the judgment is about women too and its not all and only about the shouty men.

Mmmnotsure · 01/11/2025 18:15

Cardiff – very noisy group of protesters very close to the Senedd steps.

The policing was badly done. The police let them move forward more and more over time and to be honest if the protesters had pushed it physically there weren’t enough police, and they weren’t being organised well enough, to have sorted that out.

However we were treated to a series of extraordinary chants, and the clear expression of male violence along with watching what appeared to be vulnerable, lost, young people.

In a crowded field, the best poster was probably the one that said:
”Biological sex is what I had with your mother last night”.
We were scratching our heads over that one.

Grok is hooked directly into twitter and so it can sample all the tweets and links about a given story over any period you like. Its summary of the 199 days protest seems pretty comprehensive

#199DaysLater Protests: Full Summary (November 1, 2025)
Background
On April 16, 2025, the UK Supreme Court unanimously ruled in For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish Ministers ([2025] UKSC 16) that “sex” in the Equality Act 2010 means biological sexnot gender identity or self-ID. This confirmed women’s right to single-sex spaces/services (e.g., prisons, toilets, refuges, sports, hospitals). 3 6
199 days later (today), grassroots women from @acts_grassroots, Women Won’t Wheesht (@WWWheesht), For Women Scotland, WRN, and allies held coordinated protests across the UK demanding:

Solidarity with the women of Wales, who seem to have got the worst of the trans activists' bullshit today.

Lovely to see events all over.

EmpressaurusKitty · 01/11/2025 18:54

London was fantastic. Huge turnout & the TRAs were kept well out of the way for the whole thing.

The Met police did an absolutely brilliant job for us.

Oh dear, so sad to see all those TA with bad colds, but how sensible of them to protect the rest of us from their germs by wearing masks, though I am sorry not to see their happy little faces properly.

cariadlet · 01/11/2025 19:28

I went to the London event and it was fantastic - great atmosphere, creative banners, brilliant speeches. It had been very well planned and organised and was well stewarded. I loved the singing!

The advanced liaison between organisers and police really paid off. The Met police were excellent (I never thought that I'd type those words!). Unlike a lot of Let Women Speak Events, the TRAs were kept well away from us and not allowed to drown women out. They weren't anywhere near Parliament Square where we met or the space in Whitehall, opposite Downing Street, where the speeches were. Instead, they were corralled into a small area, about halfway along the route of the march and on the opposite side of the road to us.

EmpressaurusKitty · 01/11/2025 19:31

I’ve just been reading an account of the day on trans Reddit. Apparently there were 3 arrests among the TRAs (at least 2 of whom were provoked), it wasn’t fair to paint them as ‘masked thugs’ because their masks weren’t at all intimidating, & the writer was very confused by seeing a woman on our side with a Terf Island flag.
