Epstein & Mossad does have more evidence behind it though. Robert Maxwell seems to have had ties with Mossad, plus Epstein's mysterious past & use of sexual abuse to compromise the powerful would fit in. Respectable media of all kinds has discussed the possibility. As did Megyn Kelly & Charlie Kirk before his murder. I don't think that's linked, but I do think both are not in the same league as conspiracists like Owens & Carlson.

France has always had laws against teacher-pupil relationships. People went to prison for this sort of stuff well before Brigitte Macron - look up the Gabrielle Russier case. I would add that when I was at secondary in the UK, I knew of at least six or seven teacher-pupil relationships, at least one of which ended in marriage. Admittedly it was all male teachers and female pupils.

None of which is to excuse the Macrons. It is definitely grim. But Brigitte Macron is not a fucking man, for fucks sake.

The danger of this kind of abuse is that people often romanticise it rather than seeing it for the horrible crime it is. Take the 1997 case of Mary Kay Letourneau (inspired the Natalie Portman film May December) . She raped her 12yo student, and was sent to prison pregnant with his child. When released, they got married 😢 and magazines even covered the wedding like a 'forbidden lovers' situation. Insane. He said recently that he was only now coming to terms with how she groomed him (evil woman died in 2020)

There's definitely been a similar tendency with abusive men & underage girls (see reactions to Lolita) but it's very hard to see people being quite as cavalier about a similar situation with an adult man and a 12yo girl

(Thinking about it, Letourneau's father was a Republican Congressman, so maybe he pulled strings to get more favourable media treatment?)

Another one I thought of is the 2005 case of Debra LaFave (Tampa by Alissa Nutting is based on this - she went to school with LaFave) - she abused her 14yo student. The judge made comments about her being too beautiful for the 'hellhole' of prison! She ended up with a plea bargain & no prison sentence.

I think similar attitudes allowed Brigitte to get away with her crime. I remember the story of her relationship with Emmanuel being reported like a titillating scandal when he arrived on the scene.

Also the fact that it's not entirely clear when the relationship became physical- though by any standards it was wildly inappropriate for a married adult teacher to act that way to a 15yo pupil. 'I can't promise anything' when Macron's parents told her to 'stay away until he's 18' doesn't sound very positive....☹️
