Well you see. There you have it. She’s Dolly in disguise!!!

What an emotional day, with the beautiful blankets.

A friend is coming over in a bit and she has made cake. She is very good at that sort of thing. I won’t be able to hang out at the BS when she’s here…would be rude, innit. But cake is good.

Oh Swashy. Enjoy the cake and the time with your friend. I am happy that you have the blankets and they are beautiful. Love to you, Ted and Dr.Swashy

Mauds sudden foray into fashionable women's wear must be completely sending the algorithms on my phone into a total cpu fuck!

I'm still getting pop ups from that Catholic's R Us, or whatever, website.

Swashbuckled · 17/09/2025 22:21

I don’t think I’ve seen the Catholics R Us thing.

I’ve tea and cake. It was lovely and I was given cake to keep me going over the next few days too.

Was it nice cake?

Yes. It was sticky toffee pudding cake with a sauce in a separate pot. Winking at me now from the kitchen.

I can hear it's siren song from here.

Swash, oh Swash of the sea, come through to the kitchen to partake of me.

And not a hint of Marmite! Although possibly has treacle in it. I do think treacle is an underrated addition. I think treacle gin has legs.

Swashbuckled · 17/09/2025 22:31

I have already nipped through to the kitchen for another piece, with sauce. Stop it, you abominable temptress!

Treacle on crumpets is divine, and makes it much easier to see exactly where to lick the plate than golden syrup

Put it in the fridge and barricade the door to the kitchen!

Oh, that’s culinary genius! Hadn’t occurred to me. If the crumpets are crisp, that sounds delightful. Must add treacle to my shopping basket.

AlexandraLeaving · 17/09/2025 22:34

Maud, please come sit with me a while, drink gin (if your hangover can take it) and listen to contemplative music. It’s the anniversary (several years on) of losing my mum and I still miss her wisdom and humour and love. She was not a great Leonard C fan, but I am, and this is a great song for the day that’s in it.

As must I as my last tin suffered some malfunction and the seam on the tin started leaking treacle all over the shelf.

That was a very sticky day trying to clean up the mess.

I have closed doors on the sirens. I plan to succumb to their charms tomorrow. I am being determined about it. There is a lot left and I foresee it will be all gone by teatime.

I’m a Leonard Cohen fan too.

A nice way to remember your mum. ❤️

Oh good lord! Now I see why Maud wears a hat and not a wig

I thought this was very Jane Austenesque!

I must go and see on the other thread, but it's past my bedtime now.

I have not been sleeping well without the AirCast boot and I rarely nap during the day. Hopefully tonight I will be just a whim away.

Ken is on the right track! With him doing that and us inserting gerbils into every situation surely the AI will stand no chance!

OP posts:
DeanElderberry · 18/09/2025 07:51

I hope Ken visits the Staunch Ally from time to time, I like to think that at least some of the blokes there mirror the spirit of the Bluestocking. Not that we ever insert anything random into anything. We have gerbils for that.

I always worry a bit that the poor quokkas have to do too much clearing-up, but I suppose Rosy and the capybaras provide some comfort and solidarity.

Why is Colin hiding under the sofa?
