I’m also open minded. It is however clear that tarquin was going round harassing women intentionally at the conference. I haven’t heard what actually happened in the supposed assault yet. Was it at his 3rd approach to glinner when he supposedly had his phone right in glinner’s face?

Here's the clip from the Telegraph live reporting - ignore the big subscribe banner, the clip should play.

Nothing says 'nothing here to see' like masked men.

If they just show that clip without context, ie previous interaction that is not going to do Glinner any favours.

I'm somewhat open minded as to whether Linehan has acted unlawfully tbh.

I think this is why not everyone likes him in GC circles. He has sailed close to the wind. But his overall point isn't wrong and he has been put under extraordinary levels of pressure. The normal challenges to deal with this clearly haven't worked.

If he is found guilty it will because of a failure of the system to deal with the abusive militants.

It is a clear case of unequal treatment however you cut it.

We have a young man freely admitting to various things which he probably should be charged with. And yet nothing has been done and some of the press are completely ignoring these pretty significant admissions.

The justice system has to treat everyone equally or it basically falls on its arse.

We have a massive problem here. This case is just one that represents it and it plays directly into the hands of politicians jumping on the idea of two tier policing.

It's really hard to argue they aren't wrong in the face of cases like this.

I agree too.

I don’t condone what he said - it’s too close to the wire for me but there is a clear difference in the way he is being treated vs some of the trans activists posts.

Unfortunately I think he’s played into their hands here and it makes GC people look bad.

But we aren’t all the same and it’s not surprising there is a range of opinion and behaviours.

Yes was just going to edit having read the last two pages. Still, he must be regretting many many of his choices of words. I wonder how he will approach it- I think at this point he might own that and point out that the women he was trying to defend behaved pretty impeccably, and he was wrong to keep losing his shit.

To add: the cumulative effect of witnessing and experiencing abusive behaviour from many different TRAs is undeniable. But that's not how courts work, and I'm not convinced that it won't look a bit David and Goliath to those who haven't been paying attention.

Edited

The women behave impeccably because, let's face it, they've very little choice in the matter. TRAs go after men less frequently, I'm sure, because some men would give them a good hiding.

Can you imagine SB turning up at a football match and sticking his phone in any bloke's face like he did to the women at that conference? 🤣

I do agree that they've pulled a blinder with the victim card.

It's part of the live reporting, but that's nowehere near the depth of Nick Wallis's live Tweeting.

Yep- and can you imagine a lone woman turning up to a TRA event and trying the same? She'd be in genuine physical danger.

Yes they have pulled a blinder - I'm worrying that tomorrow is going to be extremely uncomfortable. But I'm also trying to remember that women are NOT responsible for worrying about what men do.... even when it's a man we agree with. It's Glinner's own responsibility to keep his shit together, and I shouldn't think he'd deny that.

I wasn't really commenting on the reporting, but just should it be the only footage shown in court it would not help Glinner at all.

Maybe he should wear one of those heart monitors to show the impact on these TRAs have over the period of time it has been going on.

CohensDiamondTeeth · 04/09/2025 18:09

Ironic isn’t it, he’s the one that got Glinner dragged to court and yet he hides behind masked men and umbrellas and Glinner walks out to applause. Says it all really.

That's my understanding.

I do wonder if, instead of a TRA, it was a 'thug' who was repeatedly putting his phone in the face of women at Ascot (say) and a bloke there eventually lamped him, the reporting might be different? 🤔

I know, crap analogy, but I think the 'these men are victims ' mentality continues, even when they are where they shouldn't be, even when they are actively intimidating women and even when they provoke it.

Given the police will do nothing, these men absolutely will continue until they get a reaction.

And I don't believe they'll stop even if people play nice. It's a very dangerous situation.

Wow. Sarah Vine has leapt to the top of the league table of my favourite barristers. Apologies to Naomi Cunningham and Ben Cooper.

I heard her at the LSE talk a few months ago along with Akua Reindorf, BC and NC. She's absolute bloody nails.

Having a whole posse of masked minders doesn’t exactly scream ‘alarmed and distressed’ does it? Absolutely love your username @MeinKraft is it a Motherland reference?

Well the comparison between the greeting to Glinner leaving court and SB leaving court is marked. If you judge someone by their friends I know whose pal is want to be.

Archive link to the Spectator article posted just upthread

The questions the Met must answer over the Graham Linehan debacle | The Spectator https://share.google/IolXpn7Q3WNgR6H1g

Apologies to IwanttoRetire but the link went to a Telegraph article.

The author literally figuratively genocides the NBs! Mentions the boys and girls in blue but nothing about the poor little they/thems. Good points about them trying to pass the buck to politicians. Also that the decision to arrest a relatively high profile figure would likely have gone up the police hierarchy. I hope more information comes out about that.

I've seen nothing much about the College of Policing, of whom I know little except Harry Miller lays a lot of this at their door.

I've also had a sneaking feeling that five coppers showed up because they had nothing better to do and they wanted to fan girl/boy/them at Glinner. Although if so they must have quickly decided it wasn't a good time to ask for an autograph or a selfie.
