I noticed Jo has (finally) posted about him on her Twitter.

Well if anyone is still asking "what has Jo said that's homophobic/transphobic" she's openly defending someone who spends a lot of his time harassing, defaming and threatening gay and trans people and anyone who supports them.

And can we address the right-wing manipulation going on about "the police being armed to arrest someone for tweeting". The arrest happened at an airport, the police there are routinely armed for general national security reasons.

“The arrest was made by officers from the MPS Aviation Unit,” a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said in a statement to media. “It is routine for officers policing airports to carry firearms. These were not drawn or used at any point during the arrest.”

This is going to backfire massively. No one thinks five armed guards is remotely normal.

And no one thinks it's inciting violence.

It's a perfectly normal reaction to men being unlawfully in women's spaces and refusing to leave.

What really needs to happen is to follow the trail starting with the twit of a transactivist who reported it, and naming every single person right up to the arrest.

Where the fuck is the accountability?

Agree - this story is everywhere now. As others have said, the effect on Glinner is awful but he has put up with this kind of thing for years. This incident might just be the tipping point - the writer of father ted arrested by five armed police at a time when the police aren’t responding to vast numbers of crimes. It’s a huge story - and clearly demonstrates the overreach. Fingers crossed it’s the thing that finally brings home to people what this hideous ideology has done - and gets glinners’ career back on track. I still want to see father ted the musical!

Surely, I mean surely, even regular posters here who have a dislike of him for their own personal reasons have to admit that this is not just ridiculous, but incredibly dangerous for our society as a whole? Surely? Even if you disagree with what he’s said in the past?
