GLP are going after Sarah Philmore and are going to lose

Get the popcorn folks. GLP is getting ready to lose again.

They are going after barrister Sarah Phillimore for referring to a man as a man. They think they are going to lawfare her into silence.

Her blog:

Here we are now: Entertain us
I have had now 7 years and counting of the various tactics used to 'silence' those who won't comply with prevailing orthodoxy. How are those tactics holding up?
https://sarahphillimore.substack.com/p/here-we-are-now-entertain-us?

The only thing is other TAs have already tried this on Phillimore multiple times. They went to the Bar Council their claims were dismissed. They all failed. More to the point this ‘Kate’ is the same guy complaining again who already failed. Sarah Phillimore knows the law and likes explaining it to TAs and making them lose. So she doesn't even resent the attempt.

As Sarah has stated "They pick on someone who not only enjoys this but has now a vast repository of knowledge about the law in this area."

Sarah Phillimore

Because I don’t tweet as a public body, an employer or provider of goods or services. I am not subject to the Equality Act. I tweet as a private individual and I will say again. You can’t change sex. A man cannot be a woman. I cannot be compelled to call a man a woman.

A trans identifying man such as ‘Kate’ who frequently takes to the public stage to urge violence against women and declare his intent to enter women’s spaces, is a dangerous man and one who will attract public comment.

If this person has had multiple suicide attempts due to public scrutiny, why is this person still drawing attention to themselves everyday on social media?

Why has everyone around Molly failed to intervene and instead encouraged continued use of social media?

There not just one partner here either. They are just letting him carry on despite it apparently causing distress. Unless of course, they support the harassment and know the allegations are bullshit... Both scenarios don't paint them in a good light.

And then you have the GLP and Maugham looking like they are actively exploiting a very vulnerable individual. Unless of course, they know it's all bollocks too... Both scenarios don't paint them in a good light.

Helleofabore · 31/08/2025 05:58

Indeed Red. There doesn’t seem to be much care. I don’t think there is any doubt that Molly is vulnerable. There is no excusing Molly’s behaviour, yet that is one vulnerable man.

Interesting development it seems that GLP has been paying staff for at least two months to write complaints to the BSB about two gender crit Barristers. As Sarah says this makes the very shoddy nature of the complaint very odd.

The other question who is the other Barrister targeted.

Anyway this coming to light makes things look worse for GLP.

Given the quality of the complaint against me this is absolutely shocking. I will look forward to finding out their names. But little wonder JoMo needs to raise a million quid, if he takes months and needs King’s Counsel to cobble together something that reads like an A level law student left unsupervised.

I am usually very happy to put my name to my work. I wonder why these barristers are not.

Alex
You’d think so but according to this post on Blue Sky, the GLP has been paying a silk and junior to work on BSB complaints for months.

So who is the other barrister and do they know they are about to be lightly accosted by a slightly damp sponge of a complaint?

ItsCoolForCats · 31/08/2025 08:41

I think Sophie Molly could well be the undoing of the Good Law Project. It's been apparent to many sensible people for some time that the GLP are not to be taken seriously. Jolyon Maugham was a competent tax barrister, but the move into litigating on trans issues, despite JM's bucket loads of hubris, have not been peppered with success.

They have been becomingly increasingly desperate. To be try to push the narrative that the SC judgement harms 'cis' women, here is JM's wife to claim she has been told not use a female changing room. What a coincidence. And if course the Guardian is only too obliging to do a story on it. And now this move to produce in-house journalism (I e. propaganda) with Sophie Molly. Sophie Molly FFS! The most bonkers of all the TRAs. I feel sorry for the people who are being misled by the GLP. I think after this latest debacle, even the Guardian won't be able to write puff pieces about JM and the GLP anymore.

Will the identity of the silk be revealed as part of the process? How could they possibly string out the work for so long? It all just looks so embarrassing.

Not very successful with Brexit either.

His lack of neutrality seems to be a real barrier to gaining competence in areas of law where he lacks experience and expertise.

There have been plenty of trantrums about Naomi Cunningham lately for using clear language, so my guess would be her.

yourhairiswinterfire · 31/08/2025 09:49

But who knows, maybe the bully boys will surprise us by breaking from tradition to target a bloke, too.

Charabanc · 31/08/2025 10:08

Pleeeeeeease let them go after NC. I don't think there's enough burn ointment in the world for them to recover from that!

Anyway, just noticed this. The level of self-delusion and projection is extraordinary:

I think a lot of the Gender Critical hate me and trans people in general because they are jealous.

We are living authenticity while they are deeply unhappy living a fake life.

Yep. Vulnerable. Does not equate or imply that they are not also capable of harming others, acting in bad faith, etc.

Agree. It's moving from the GLP looking like a set up that has vaguely good intentions but wobbly and slightly iffy implementation of those, into the realms of looking like a con, supporting the actively unhinged and mendacious.

SinnerBoy · 31/08/2025 10:33

Soapy posted, erm, interesting photos of himself online, with a public setting and he's blaming JKR for people looking at them and mocking him. I don't understand his logic, there.

DuesToTheDirt · 31/08/2025 10:42

I'm almost wishing the Scottish Greens hadn't deselected him - more people would become aware of exactly what he's like, and he'd also highlight the problem ideology within the Scottish Greens.

Given that Maugham was a tax lawyer it all sounds completely feasible though.

A tax lawyer will often be aware of all the loopholes and bits of the system you can misuse use to maximise your cash through various complex schemes. The tax lawyer themselves will get rich on the back of such schemes.

This all starts to sound like the equivalent of a law firm going into another area to maximise their income whilst using all the same tactics.

The only problem with this as a new area is, unlike tax, it probably will have a limited amount of time, before the shark is jumped and there's a wholesale closure of the door on this because it uses harassment as a key tool.

I'm delighted that Maugham and the GLP have decided to scrap this particular barrell because it might mean the inevitable implosion for both parties is somewhat contained and we get it over with sooner rather than later.

The shark officially jumped with this one.

Reading the replies on blue sky, to the above link he's far from alone.

(Apparently the NHS asking for sex at birth if putting their health at risk. They seem to expect to be treated appropriately with medication based on their gender and never addressing their sex. So I can't wait for that gem to wash up in litigation)

Given the state of the Scottish Greens, not sure who this reflects worse on : him, or them.

SM currently getting ratioed on TwiX for posting his article about a male nurse being sad that he’s no longer allowed to use the ladies at NHS Grampian.

I think the GLP has royally fucked up on backing this horse.

He may prefer women, but that doesn't mean women want to have him in their spaces.
