Get the popcorn folks. GLP is getting ready to lose again.

They are going after barrister Sarah Phillimore for referring to a man as a man. They think they are going to lawfare her into silence.

The only thing is other TAs have already tried this on Phillimore multiple times. They went to the Bar Council their claims were dismissed. They all failed. More to the point this ‘Kate’ is the same guy complaining again who already failed. Sarah Phillimore knows the law and likes explaining it to TAs and making them lose. So she doesn't even resent the attempt.

As Sarah has stated "They pick on someone who not only enjoys this but has now a vast repository of knowledge about the law in this area."

if that’s true I can’t imagine what his constant public threats of suicide do to his parents.

Conference with counsel - we are going ahead

I had a conference with specialist defamation counsel on 31st October and I am really pleased to repot that I am now proceeding with a letter before action to Jolyon Maugham.
Unfortunately the JKR fund were not able to help, which I understand; this is not the kind of case that is in their remit and women who are at risk of losing their jobs need the money more than I do. I will be investigating all possible ways of keeping the costs down, including looking at insurance policies. The matter will inevitably have to proceed in stages and I will be taking a realistic appraisal of costs v benefits at each stage and will keep you updated.

SP has now said any money made from suing the Fox Botherer will be going to For Women Scotland. So fingers crossed for win.

It's a matter of great sadness that Dan Neidle gets legal help from the GLP, in the area of defamation no less.
I'd have been fascinated to see him taking a hard look at their financial arrangements.

You wouldn't expect much knowledge of actual snakes from someone who beat a fox to death with a baseball bat.

I know Sarah isn’t doing any of this for laughs and that it is deadly serious, but of all the current legal disputes, this one really does keep giving in terms of entertainment.
