GLP are going after Sarah Philmore and are going to lose

Get the popcorn folks. GLP is getting ready to lose again.

They are going after barrister Sarah Phillimore for referring to a man as a man. They think they are going to lawfare her into silence.

Her blog:

Here we are now: Entertain us
I have had now 7 years and counting of the various tactics used to 'silence' those who won't comply with prevailing orthodoxy. How are those tactics holding up?
https://sarahphillimore.substack.com/p/here-we-are-now-entertain-us?

The only thing is other TAs have already tried this on Phillimore multiple times. They went to the Bar Council their claims were dismissed. They all failed. More to the point this ‘Kate’ is the same guy complaining again who already failed. Sarah Phillimore knows the law and likes explaining it to TAs and making them lose. So she doesn't even resent the attempt.

As Sarah has stated "They pick on someone who not only enjoys this but has now a vast repository of knowledge about the law in this area."

Sarah Phillimore

Because I don’t tweet as a public body, an employer or provider of goods or services. I am not subject to the Equality Act. I tweet as a private individual and I will say again. You can’t change sex. A man cannot be a woman. I cannot be compelled to call a man a woman.

A trans identifying man such as ‘Kate’ who frequently takes to the public stage to urge violence against women and declare his intent to enter women’s spaces, is a dangerous man and one who will attract public comment.

It was the specific invitation to sue, via the GLP, that piqued my interest. Because people have noted he appears to be doing this with Sarah Phillimore, too.

Would this be because the GLP has quite a lot of money swishing around which could be used to cover legal costs without any effect on his personal bank balance? 🤔

EsmeWeatherwaxHatpin · 10/09/2025 15:09

So let me try get this straight we think that JM maybe trying to push a man to sue him for something related to property in an attempt to suggest all women who are GC are right wing.

Hiding to nothing springs to mind!

Not if he is sued personally. My take was that he was providing Farage with an address to serve him, not speaking as the GLP itself.

Not that Farage will pay any attention to the pompous arse anyway. And Phillimore is far too clever to involve the GLP.

SerendipityJane · 10/09/2025 15:20

Chersfrozenface · 10/09/2025 13:15

Has Farage ever taken legal action against anyone?

Except Coutts/Natwest, obviously - who had to settle out of court, as it happens.

Farage is probably quite easy to defame. Quite aside from being a cunt with little defence, there is absolutely no way on Gods Green Earth he would be seen anywhere near a court - let alone put himself in a situation where he has to divulge all his shady dealings.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/09/2025 15:31

Well yes, and I imagine Jolyon knows that.

The fox killer is just riding on higher-profile people's coat tails for the clout, as per.

RedToothBrush · 10/09/2025 17:41

Best way to grift and enrage innit.

fromorbit · 10/09/2025 19:04

JM should be worrying about how he words his apology. The garden now has 15,115 seeds.

Aside from Joly being an absolute pr*ck of a man, the TRAs really are covering themselves in an extra level of glory with who they pick on aren't they. Not just any women, but with a particular interest it seems in bullying women with disabilities, black women, lesbians, rape survivors.
Anyway, I shall be tending the sprouts.

fromorbit · 11/09/2025 15:57

Now 17,950 seeds. However that is not the only thing going wrong.

Sparkles love of extreme violence emerges again in his celebration of the murder of Charlie Kirk. The tweet was removed for violating X's rules but too late.

A reminder JolyonMaugham is representing Euan in legal action against
SVPhillimore because he didn’t like being accurately described as a man

But apparently celebrating a man’s murder before his body is cold is ok…

He followed up downplaying the murder again saying Tras face violence all the time when in fact they face words.

@garylfrancione

In other words, people don't see telling men that they can't use women's toilets and private spaces as analogous to shooting someone in the neck and killing them, and that upsets you. Once again, you give narcissism a bad name.

Sarah Phillimore

Euan Weddell is being supported by leading and junior counsel, presumably paid for by the money raised from frightened trans people, to end my career. Certainly the Good Law Project think he’s representative of poor beleaguered trans persons everywhere.

In suppose I must count myself lucky that stupid lawyers are the worst thing I have to face as opposed to a bullet in my neck.

Maybe, the written word doesn't do my vocal thoughts justice. But Sophie "whatever his manboobs say" Molly isn't representative of anyone. 'these people' catch all is not a thing. He's a cunt, yes, but he doesn't speak for, or represent, anyone else

Every day JM 's case gets worse.

Good lord. I've tried to avoid social media on Charlie Kirk - and yes, I know his politics weren't to everyone's taste - because most of the commentary falls into two categories:

  • Ghouls actually celebrating the murder
  • Cowards who feel they need to spend 20 paragraphs denouncing Kirk before they say murder is wrong, no doubt to avoid being cancelled themselves

Generally it should be a cautionary tale about what happens when you see political opponents as less than human and therefore not deserving of life.

Jolyon knows how to pick his most vulnerable and oppressed people in society, doesn't he?

There's several large grey mammals in the room again which I think a lot of posters are wisely avoiding here unlike elsewhere where receipts and comments today have not looked good all round.

There was several comments on the BBC today from talking heads worried about tit for tat outbreaks of violence and the FBI has already said that people questioned as persons of interest have been threatened.

I think these concerns are very much founded from what I've seen unfortunately.

I'm being extremely cautious myself. I often watch Megyn Kelly, but I haven't been able to bring myself to do that yet - from the short clip I saw, she was just overwhelmed by what had happened to her friend.

I saw the thread here last night in Chat, which was approaching 500 posts before MNHQ zapped it, and on this occasion I'm glad they did because a lot of people were coming out with stuff that they might have regretted in the cold light of day.

All I'm saying is, these moments can be mask off moments.

RedToothBrush · 11/09/2025 16:53

I think October could get wild in the UK...

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/09/2025 17:00

Filia
Darlington Nurses
EHRC guidance
Glinner trial

RedToothBrush · 11/09/2025 17:19

You need to add

Green Party Conference to that list.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/09/2025 18:22

Oh yes!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/09/2025 18:23

Are there any other Party confs in October?

Chersfrozenface · 11/09/2025 18:27

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/09/2025 18:23

Are there any other Party confs in October?

Conservative Party (UK), Manchester Central Convention Complex 5–8 October
Plaid Cymru, Brangwyn Hall, Swansea 10–11 October
Welsh Liberal Democrats, Ramada Plaza, Wrexham 10–12 October
Scottish National Party, The Event Complex Aberdeen 11–13 October

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/09/2025 19:48

Goodness. As Red said, October will indeed be interesting.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/09/2025 19:49

I expect there will be anti SC motions in at least 3 of those.

Charabanc · 11/09/2025 19:52

Labour and Lib Dem conferences are in Sept.

Wonder when Bridget is going to lay the EHRC guidance down. Maybe after Labour conf, so she can concentrate on the deputy leadership election? Or before, so it's done... can't work out which would be best.

RedToothBrush · 11/09/2025 19:57

Prediction: The Labour & LD ones won't be as problematic as the Green Conference.

SionnachRuadh · 11/09/2025 20:22

We eagerly await to see whether Zack can transform the Greens into even bigger tits.
