Is it ever acceptable for women to tell men to fuck off?

Or does it make us look unintelligent, unreasonable, unkind, irrational or uncouth so we shouldn't do it?

Should we care about this?

This sums it up for me

Is it ever acceptable for women to tell men to fuck off?

How about when I was being followed through town late at night as a young woman with nobody else around? Do you think I should have had a polite conversation with that man?

Uhmm.. pardon me for the interruption kind sir, would you terribly mind unencumbering me from your presence?

simper - whimper -curtsy

It's my hobby.

Need something to fill the hours.

JohnTheRevelator · 12/08/2025 17:23

I've done this a couple of times over the past few years. I think it was perfectly justified. On one occasion,it was a friend of my ex'es,who tried to put his hand up my skirt. Another time,a man sat next to me on the bus and started stroking my hair.

TomeTome · 12/08/2025 17:25

It is ALWAYS acceptable but sometimes we can’t be arsed. HTH

Why didn't try and resolve it more amicably?

Even though you were being sexually assaulted you should have watched your language and been more polite.

I agree, hysterical women, there’s just no reasoning with them.

Men never ask themselves this question.

I am in favour of reasoned arguments over telling people to fuck off. But the GC crowd have plenty of reasoned arguments on FWR, and still some people think don't understand why we're angry.

In this instance though you were saying FO to Nicola Sturgeon, not the other poster, is that right? So to a woman, not a man? But a man told you off for it?

Anyway, I feel so insulted by Nicola's gratuitous "racist, homophobic, misogynist, transphobic" comments that she can indeed FOTTFSOFATFOSM.

Sounds like Aaron also deserved at least an ODFOD too.

betterBeElwinNextIGuess · 12/08/2025 18:28

I've done this just once. It was justified.

DeanElderberry · 12/08/2025 18:28

There's a slight echo from more than half a century ago of Erin Pizzey's 'Scream Quietly or the Neighbours Will Hear',

Whatever else is going on, be ladylike and don't make a fuss.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 12/08/2025 18:29

If I feel the need to tell a man to fuck off, I don’t care how I then look to him.

MelOfTheRoses · 12/08/2025 18:47

Yes - done it once and totally justified. It was met with incredulous splutterings of something like poisonous bitch or whatever, but I have absolutely no idea how he expected anything else 🤷‍♀️. Never seen the greasy slime ball before or since which is fine.

I did it today when I got (yet another) spam phone call.

quite satisfying

Some years ago, before caller ID was common, we kept getting silent phone calls from a neighbour who we were having issues with. One time DH picked up the phone and just said, "Fuck Off!" Unfortunately it was my mum on the line, oops!

StrikeandRobinlol · 13/08/2025 08:37

Lol it wouldn’t even cross my mind NOT to tell someone to fuck off for the reasons of being unladylike or sumffing 😂

I’ve shocked a few bullies because they think i must be submissive and demure from my looks

Fuck yes.

On the men's clothes thread yesterday I told a man to fuck off and he said I deserved to be punched. Fucking charmer.
He'd been whining that men's comments weren't getting responses. He wanted to tell us about his skirt collection. I'd just read another man's post about how he liked the breeze on his nether regions when wearing women's clothes. It made me want to vomit.

Fuck off was completely appropriate.

That reminds me of the first time my then husband was physically abusive towards me. I screamed, it was a shock, I was terrified.

The next day a male neighbour knocked on the door specifically to laughingly tell me he had heard me screaming last night.

Unladylike to say fuck off? What about the ungentlemanly behaviour? Is that relelvant? At all?

Butchyrestingface · 13/08/2025 09:24

Either it's okay to tell people to fuck off or it's not.

If it's NOT okay to do so, then the sex of the person on the receiving end doesn't matter. It's not okay.

If it IS okay, then why should the sex of the person on the receiving end matter?

KingOfPoundbury · 13/08/2025 09:30

Mother did it all the time... (in her head!)

If it IS okay, then why should the sex of the person on the receiving end matter?

More importantly, why should the sex of the person saying it matter?

I have never had sexual harassment from a woman, so have never needed to say fuck off for this reason.

Has there always been so many men on here? I didn't really used to notice them, knew there was the odd one, but they seem to be everywhere just now. Not a fan of how some of them throw their weight around.
