Is it ever acceptable for women to tell men to fuck off?

Or does it make us look unintelligent, unreasonable, unkind, irrational or uncouth so we shouldn't do it?

Should we care about this?

Anyone is perfectly at liberty to tell anyone to fuck off in appropriate circumstances.

Fuck em.

Behold the field
in which I grow my fucks.
Lay thine eyes upon it
and thou shalt see
that it is barren.

Men often complain they don't understand women, and can't figure out the subtle clues.
I would say telling a man to fuck off clearly expresses exactly how you feel in the moment in a way that any man can understand.
It is a most valuable communication tool.

CurlewKate · 12/08/2025 11:30

In the appropriate circumstances-of course.

DustyWindowsills · 12/08/2025 11:30

There are plenty of instances when it is necessary. Who cares whether it's acceptable?

MakeMineADietCoke · 12/08/2025 11:30

Yes of course - as often as is necessary

TaborlinTheGreat · 12/08/2025 11:31

Wirh justifiable cause, it's ok for women or men to tell each other to fuck off. There's no reason why men should be allowed to but not women, or vice versa.

He tells her that the Earth is flat—
He knows the facts, and that is that.
In altercations fierce and long
She tries her best to prove him wrong.
But he has learned to argue well.
He calls her arguments unsound
And often asks her not to yell.
She cannot win. He stands his ground.
The planet goes on being round.

In similar circumstances, yes

Hiptothisjive · 12/08/2025 11:40

No it’s never acceptable to tell anyone to fuck off because it’s rude and there are better ways of dealing with things - doesn’t matter if it’s a man or a woman.

DragonRunor · 12/08/2025 11:43

OP, why do you think it’s not appropriate?

Do you think it’s inappropriate for men to tell women to fuck off? Is it ok for men to tell men to fuck off, or does that make them look unintelligent, unreasonable, unkind, irrational, and uncouth? Do you think they care?

I tend to think that, like all swearing, it makes a bigger impression if it’s used sparingly. Sometimes, it’s by far the clearest communication you can use

IzzyHandsIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/08/2025 11:44

It's perfectly acceptable in the right circumstances. For example, a woman I'd sitting in a café minding her own business, drinking a coffee and reading a book. A random man approaches and starts trying to chat her up. She says she's not interested. He persists.
Absolutely fine to tell him to F.O. In this example, it's not unreasonable or unjustified. It's no more unkind than his persistent attempted pursuit. It doesn't look unintelligent, and 'uncouth'is an archaic sentiment.

Do I care about this? No - I don't care if a woman tells a man to fuck off.

Why do you presume I don't think women should say fuck off?

You probably should check my posting history!

In general, my personal rule is, only after I have said 'no thank you' twice and been ignored. Then, yes. Not only acceptable but necessary.

Exception - men telling me to smile, making personal comments.

They get immediate and terrible retribution.

Do you think every situation can be dealt with amicably and reasonably?

What if the other party isn't?

I`ll tell anyone to fuck of if they piss me off men women and children old and the young.

Domesticatednottamed · 12/08/2025 11:52

Once many moons ago after I had been dumped I was bombarded with letters of great regret. Pages and pages of A4 about what a mistake it was, how upset he was ad nauseam, lots and lots of "me" and "I".

I started with the be kind stuff, trying to be nice about telling him I had no interest, I actually bothered to put some effort into it, but on and on and on it went.

In the end I wrote "Fuck, pto" on one side of a sheet of paper and "Off" on the other. Reader it worked, apparently I sent him a letter "full of profanity" (I had back channels) I wished I'd saved myself the bother of giving a flying one about his feelings and gone straight to the fuck off.

My partner was teasing me recently and I laughingly told him to fuck off. He didn't like it. Now he knows I'm a potty mouth and my favourite word (which I try and squeeze in at least 5 times a day) is motherfucker .... but he didn't like me saying it directly to him.

I have made a conscious effort not to swear at him since.

Awww. I read this as "I have made a conscious effort TO swear him at him since". Disappointing.

I watched my teen mates use all sorts of ways to say fuck off to men, including foot stamping and screeching (I don't know where it came from but it really worked). And given how much harassment and actual assault I got, I am a huge advocate of literally telling men to fuck off to their faces and of threatening them with physical attack. Not ashamed of any of it and will encourage my teen daughter to jump to hostile first and worry about it later. Sorry not sorry.

Twistedfirestarters · 12/08/2025 11:56

Absolutely it is acceptable in certain circumstances. Like other posters my mind instantly jumped to persistent men who will not leave women alone if they don't want to be chatted up. I bet there is barely a woman alive who hasn't experienced unwanted attention from men in one form or another. I'm always too scared of violence to say it but my god, I've thought it on many an occasion.

Wouldn’t it be nice to live in a world where everyone acted reasonably all the time and you could just sit and chat amicably and sort things out? When you find that place please let us know, in the meantime I’ll be using swear words whenever I feel it’s appropriate.

One of my top hobbies is telling men to fuck off!
