Looking over the article this stood out

“Germ”, Nash is aware, is another insult now added into the mix.

Judging from the initial catchy-ness of Kate's new slur, I guess that they mean this in a sort of homeopathic sense.

All that will remain in 'the mix' will be a sort of undetectable faint memory of her insult

🎼🎤🎼"Women are facing serious dangers
Not during boxing matches or from trans people needing a piss
But from actual violence that is carried out against them every week
According to End Violence Against Women, every 3 days a woman is killed
By a man
More than 100,000 girls are at risk and living with the consequences of FGM, forced marriage and honour based abuse
Kathryn Bromwich from the Guardian states that Trans people make up roughly 0.5% of the UK population & are twice as likely to be victims of crime than cis people.
According to Home Office figures, this country has seen an increase in hate crimes towards Trans people
And cis women are supposed to focus on a threat we have yet to see manifest from a small minority of the country who are struggling to stay safe themselves
^^
Girl
You're not radical
Exclusionary regressive misogynist
Germ!
Germ
Yeah you're not rad at all
Er, Ew, Girl, Listen up"🎤🎼

Wow, the lyrics are quite something! As Arabella said, very catchy 😆 I've been humming them to myself all day.

It's like if Adrian Mole wrote festival songs.

"Do you weep, Mrs Thatcher, do you weep?
Do you wake, Mrs Thatcher, in your sleep?
Do you weep like a sad willow?
On your Marks and Spencer’s pillow?
Are your tears molten steel?
Do you weep?
Do you wake with ‘Three million’ on your brain?
Are you sorry that they’ll never work again?
When you’re dressing in your blue, do you see the waiting queue?
Do you weep, Mrs Thatcher, do you weep?"

Hahaha 🎯

She's really clever, she states that 91% of rapes are committed by non-trans identified males, 0.5% of the population are trans.

So basically saying 9% of all rapes are committed by 0.5% of the population. So trans women are 20x more likely to commit rape?

Well half of the people who identify as trans are non binary. So that leaves 0.25% committing 9% of rapes. Except of course, half of that 0.25% is transman, i.e. women, so that takes us down to 0.13% being able to commit rape.

So Kate is saying that 0.13% of the population is committing 9% of rapes? They sound extremely dangerous.

Thanks for the sunlight Kate, important to get these facts out in the open.

Edited as I forgot to say I don't know how many 'non binary ' people are male, so if it's half that would take the 'pool' of trans IDing rapists back up to 0.25%. Still a tiny number to commit 9% of rapes though, isn't it?

Teapotters · 05/06/2025 13:04

Does anybody know the source of her stat? Presumably it defines the other 9%?
I'm right to think a rapist must be in possession of a penis? Excluding cases of 'joint enterprise'.

Teapotters · 05/06/2025 13:46

Ok I found the stats on Rape Crises, they're from 2017, the song makes it sound like they're from 23/24.

Of the missing 9%, most are just males aged under 18
No data giving gender identity, just male or female and age categories. No information if transwomen were being recorded as male or female in 2017.

So she has used a statistic that has no bearing on the conversation. And as a PP pointed out actually appears to say 9% of sexual offenses are carried out by trans people, who she also points out are only 0.5% of the population.

Idiot.

"91% of people prosecuted for sexual offences are men aged 18+
Source: Office for National Statistics (2018)
Publication:

www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/datasets/sexualoffe
ndingministryofjusticeappendixtables

How did we get to these figures?

As Table 2 in this ONS dataset of compiled Ministry of Justice appendix tables shows, in the year
ending December 2017:
• 11,311 people were prosecuted for sexual offences in total.
• 10,317 of these were men aged 18 and over (826 were aged 18-20; 1,100 were aged 21- 24; 8,391 were aged 25+).
• 657 were young men and boys aged 12-17."

Editted to remove failed link.

PunchUpInPoplar · 05/06/2025 19:35

Billy Bragg? She was at nil points for that stupid song, but palling about with him has just taken her sub zero in my estimations. Absolute raging misogynist, and mansplaining fucker of a bloke.

teawamutu · 13/06/2025 13:33

Surprised but pleased to say that Nash's ridiculous pile o'shite has achieved something.

At a meet-up last night, a mate made a point of saying, apropos of nothing, how bloody awful i the song was and how it made her feel old not to understand these issues.

And I said not old, sensible. It's a load of bollocks and Nash is just a wokey idiot.

And so, hey presto, two terven find each other.

Thanks Kate!

Laying into music bosses next - and Denise Welch, who was at the festival supporting her son Matty Healy's band The 1975 - Kate continued: "The music industry doesn't know what to do with me. They tried to get rid of me, but they didn't. There is a record executive sweating their t* off with Matt Healy's mum.

"They're scared of me. I like that. But I was made of mother f Bricks. But they didn’t believe me. I even gave them a second warning a few years later when I told them 'Do not underestimate the girl'. Is it my fault they didn’t believe me?

"I’m not going to give my third warning. It’s too late for that. I’m taking my bricks and I’m throwing them through the f window.”

aww bless Kate

trying too be all edgy and cool and coming over as a silly twerp

but it was funny 😂

Nameychangington · 30/06/2025 12:48

Why does she think anyone's scared of her? No one scared of you Kate, no one remembered you existed.

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 30/06/2025 13:24

... discovered her manager had stolen vast sums of money from her ...

Not familiar with the case but, from the article, the theft seems to be proven? Surely she can sue to get the money back?
Or is this opinion stated as fact?

Alucard55 · 30/06/2025 13:46

I don't get her point?

DialSquare · 30/06/2025 13:51

She should come with a cringe warning. I keep cringing myself inside out every time she talks. People are scared of her?!!! Who does she think she is? Ronnie Pickering?!!!

Alucard55 · 30/06/2025 13:54

Why are the music industry scared of her?

teawamutu · 30/06/2025 13:56

Sad.

I really do try to be even-handed and try to understand that the other side might genuinely believe they’re right and we are wrong.

There has to be space for an exchange of views or else we’re as bad as they are with their No Debate bullshit.

But it’s REALLY hard to be fair and objective reading the absolute fucking drivel in Kate Nash’s lyrics.

She’s effectively trying to deny the experience of other women and mocking those with GC views.

She’s cherry-picking statistics - I see she’s decided not to mention the number of trans prisoners who commit sexual crimes against women and/or children. IIRC it was around 70%. Weirdly though, she doesn’t mention that in her song.

She’s very keen to point out there’s no issue with boxing rings or toilets, and she scolds us all by holding the same view as Trump, berating us for bringing down society.

The issue isn’t that she’s in the TWAW camp - it’s that she’s proactively attacking women who dare to hold GC views. Silencing them, mocking them, continuing to add to the pile-on that we’ve had to endure for years for daring to assert our right to safety.

This isn’t about having a go at Kate because she wants to champion trans rights. That’s up to her. She could do that without trampling on the many brave women who are standing up for their rights and safety. There was no need to perpetuate smear tactics or to suggest we’re all Trump fangirls. Many (most?) of us detest the orange toddler.

This is a cheap attempt at getting approval by throwing women under the bus yet again.

Fuck you Kate.

Yup. Jesus Christ, those lyrics 😳

NewGoldFox · 30/06/2025 14:22

I listened to the Adam Buxton podcast she did. It sounds like she has difficulties remaining civil with anyone. Sounded like she likes to sack people and be generally bolshy.

HunnyPot · 30/06/2025 14:30

I have one trans woman friend who you would never ever think was born a bloke

Nonsense! I can always tell.

Feminists who centre men in their feminism are a special kind of stupid.

Absolutely agree

They remind me of women particularly in the 90's (I am sure not the only decade) who liked to state they were not feminists and can be just as bad as the boys 🙄

Again an era of men controlling the narrative and being a lad (celebration of young men being boisterous and treating women poorly) or ladette (acting just like the lads which really suited, yes you have guessed it men) was highly fashionable
