Feminism: Sex and gender discussions
usedtobeaylis · 03/06/2025 21:40

There is absolutely no indicator of actual feminism in a single line of that article.

I haven't. But genuinely if you saw my friend you would never suspect she was born male. She's had all the surgery and has been living as female since she was 13. I don't see her as a threat to anyone.

This is the thing, there are genuine trans people (obviously you can't change your sex but I do believe there are some people born in the wrong body). But there are far too many now who are just predators and wanting to be exhibisionist/sex pests/intrude on women's spaces. I just don't think it's as clear cut as a lot of people on here do. Yes my friend was born male but believe me, you would not be intimidated by her in women's spaces. She's actually very shy and quiet and certainly wouldn't do anything to make people uncomfortable. Unlike my neighbour...

I recognise your compassion, although I entirely reject the idea of being born in the wrong body - how could we be?

It is difficult and I don't celebrate the inoffensive old school TW being banned - but given we've no way of telling then from the vicious violent misogynists at first glance, a hard no to all of them is how it has to be.

I thought her USP as a shit version of Lily Allen (as if LA wasn't shit enough) was always a weak premise for a career.

I think Lily Allen is pretty funny, the first one I heard was the one where she'd shagged her ex's best mate - I laughed. He deserved it.

SnoopyPajamas · 03/06/2025 21:46

The Guardian are scraping the bottom of the barrel a bit, aren't they? Kate Nash hasn't been relevant for years. I had Foundations on my mp3 player back when it came out, and even I can't name another song of hers. It took me a minute to remember her one hit.

Kate's obviously desperate for a headline, so I'll stop rewarding her with attention. But I will say, this might be a good sign. If The Guardian couldn't get anyone else to bash gender critical women in exchange for promotion, the landscape must be changing. Younger artists might finally be waking up to the fact that the trans movement is a wagon full of toxic waste, metaphorically speaking, and they might not want to jump on it.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 03/06/2025 21:47

Last time I saw Kate Nash she was charging about in a leotard on that GLOW series about wrestling.

The acting parts seem to have dried up along with the ability to write lyrics that scan.

Screamingabdabz · 03/06/2025 21:49

She’s right about misogny and all the issues women face from men. But I think someone should do the sisterly thing and tell her the revelation about what transwomen actually are.

Fucks up her clever lyrics a bit… “D’oh!”

SidewaysOtter · 03/06/2025 22:08

Is she still going? I think she last had any sort of success in about 2007, although perhaps that explains the oh-so-sexually-enlightened-and-not-at-all-condoning-exploitation-of-women Only Fans nonsense.

IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta · 03/06/2025 22:14

She writes song lyrics with the same level of skill as William Topaz McGonagall wrote his poetry.

Be it told!!

Apart from anything else, how come she doesn't understand that 100% and 91% are not the same? I wonder if she would happily participate in a dangerous leisure activity where she was told there would be a 91% chance that she would survive?

IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta · 03/06/2025 22:15

I liked her a lot in the Horrible Histories movie. Not so much now.

Lottapianos · 03/06/2025 22:15

Read this piece earlier today and honestly just felt embarrassed for her. Such pathetic bandwagon-jumping

'I recognise your compassion, although I entirely reject the idea of being born in the wrong body - how could we be?'

Completely agree

MintChocCat · 03/06/2025 22:19

Think she ought to stick to OnlyFans…

Arran2024 · 03/06/2025 22:22

The interviewer is utterly one sided of course - she has sandwiched in the BMA doctors disagreeing re biological sex point, like that's some kind of gotcha, when it's just the activists making statements.

OP posts:
GreenFriedTomato · 03/06/2025 22:24

Well, by coining the term GERM.
Girl, exclusionary, reactionary, misogynist, she's saying Terfs hate women. It can go in the stupid box along with FART.

Although women like Kate are disappointing .it's men I have the issues with so, misogyny really?

Then again it could just be that her lyrics are crap. They include plenty of other nonsensical statements and blatant lies.

JazzyJelly · 03/06/2025 22:25

I'd feel a lot more sorry for her if she didn't throw her fellow women under the bus at every opportunity

JasmineAllen · 03/06/2025 22:35

Arran2024 · 03/06/2025 20:49

It doesn't look very catchy!

That's the understatement of the year. I thought it was a weird spoof at first 😂
And what's with all the stuff about germs?

I might be biased here due to both my friend and my nephew (formerly niece). I don't mean actually born in the wrong body, I mean FEELING that you're born in the wrong body. Again, a very different thing from my neighbour putting a dress on with a full beard and inviting all the 'ladies' in our block (including me) round for 'girly drinks and a pyjama party, maybe we could have a pillow fight!' and to discuss bloody PMT and childbearing hips 🤣

Germ is a new acronym she's made up to insult Terfs. Girl, Exclusionary, Reactionary Misogynist

'Born in the wrong body' is just idiocy. I'm sorry to be so blunt but it just is.

No one is born in the wrong body. You are born in the body you have. That's it. If it's a healthy body then you should count uouf blessings.

Would you tell someone with MS they've been born in the wrong body, or a teenager with leukaemia, or someone who wants to be an olympian but can't make it? And if not, why not.

Maybe I've been born in the wrong body because I'd love to be really good at maths, but in reality I'm pretty bad at maths, although I pretend I'm quite good sometimes 😄

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 03/06/2025 22:46

I thought it was a pretty poor article in that her opinion is presented as universal truth without any challenge or questioning.

Toseland · 03/06/2025 22:47

She seems to think it will be an exciting punk moment when she plays it to an audience. Oh dear 🤣
It's not punk, it's not feminist - it's just insulting bullshit from a blinkered woman who thinks we should all conform to shitty stereotypes.

JasmineAllen · 03/06/2025 22:48

GreenFriedTomato · 03/06/2025 22:45

But that acronym doesn't make any sense 😕😂😂😂😂

GreenFriedTomato · 03/06/2025 22:51

And who is she to dictate what feminism is or isn't. And accuse GC feminists of hijacking feminism. She's welcome to her liberal version though..The one that applauds prostitution and defending mens rights

GreenFriedTomato · 03/06/2025 22:52

@JasmineAllen
None of that mess makes sense..except to nonsensical people

GreenFriedTomato · 03/06/2025 22:54

Oops. The R is for regressive, not reactionary. Still doesn't make any sense.
Hopefully she'll regress back into obscurity

NameChangedOfc · 03/06/2025 22:55

pinkteddy · 03/06/2025 20:36

I saw it earlier. She’s so feminist with her only fans account 🙄

She's the fun kind.
