I truly can't knit! I saw one post on the other thread with instructions and I could feel myself breaking out in a cold sweat. It was like trying to reading Cantonese.

Step away from a couple a days and this place is on fire!! Will try to read back through all the thread tomorrow to find out what the knitting is about (I can knit and sew. My mum was a seamstress for Ossie Clark in the 70’s and a window dresser at Selfridges so smocking, knitting, cross stitch etc was my equivalent of a CBeebies craft hour).

Passed the thing I had to do for my Uni (an AMR - had the most lovely, engaged and ‘friendly’ panel: all autistic or autistic adjacent and mums… wish I could have them for my viva next year). Kids’ exams finished and only 5 weeks until our holiday. I may be demob happy. Hoping there is someone behind the bar to get me a vat of prosecco and a bag of Scampi fries.

Don't you worry, sweetie. I already have a plan for your square. Now back away from the needles & yarn.

I have given the knitting needles to Gwenda who is currently trying to learn the gorilla drum piece from the Cadbury advert. She's getting through a lot of drumsticks.

I could knit 40 years ago, but never bothered about the tension so my sizing was rather hit and miss.

Thank you for the link. I already have some of the wools listed - Debbie bliss DK wools are so soft and huggable that I think they will make a gorgeous blanket.

Well, I did warn you.

I envy anyone who can knit. I never mastered it. Terrible hand-eye coordination.

They tried me out on woodwork at school, and I was crap at that too.

They tried me out on pottery and I made an ashtray that should have been condemned as a fire hazard.

Eventually they gave up on me doing any sort of crafts. I can't remember if it was before or after they gave up on me doing sports.

Where do your talents lie, foxy one?

I turned out to have a knack for picking up languages. Still haven't quite got the hang of Welsh, but that's a continuing goal.

I turned out to be OK at woodwork, probably why I ended up training as a joiner. I still have the little shelf unit they had us make at college. God it's nearly 40 years old!

I can do basic knitting, but reading the instructions I realised that I don't have the necessary wool, or the necessary skill to do a square that was properly finished and the correct tensions and all that techie stuff, so best left to the experts.

Well done for passing the AMR [Idon't know what that means, but passing it is obvs A Good Thing] Lurky and if you get around to doing a square for Swash, put in a stitch or two for me please.
