Welcome to the Bluestocking Arms, the home of good company, excellent drinks and delicious cakes which magically have no irksome contents like gluten or sugar or calories or the kind of alcohol that causes problems - but you wouldn't knowSmile

Food and drink are served by a keen staff of gerbils, and other animals such as capybaras, quokkas, etc., also fulfil vital roles, while looking cute AF.

New Bluestockingers always welcome.

Looks like very upmarket decking to me, Marie, therefore you'd expect it to be outside.

Wish me luck, everyone, I'm about to start marking.

While I'm not into model-making, I had occasion to shop for some doll's house size food items, & my goodness, there are some beautiful & surprisingly realistic things out there. At 1/12, would they be the right size for Marie's pub? Or are you going to make your own?

ifIwerenotanandroid · 08/06/2025 11:33

Oh, & good luck, Magpie. 💙✅❎

Thanks, Android.
The idiosyncratic scale is based on the size of foam panels available from online craft shops!
So I think it's nearer 1:24 which is my preferred doll's house size anyway.

I always try to make everything myself, with a few bought-in special touches.
I didn't even attempt to make gerbils and capybaras, and was delighted to find some online which are more or less the right scale.
The capybara is a bit over-scale but hey, there's a lot of heavy lifting to be done so we need a big strong capybara!

Part of the fun of model-making for me is looking around to see what's lying around the house that could be turned into something -
Swash's pirate ship on the mantelpiece, for instance, is off a keyring from the National Museum [it's a ship famous in Irish history called the Asgard].

I'm having great fun, and I look forward to the Grand Opening - maybe in a week or two?

Now who should we invite to do the ribbon-cutting ceremony? Silly question, eh?😀

@MarieDeGournay I'm looking forward to the ribbon cutting, I've got my camera ready!

Well, the feedback is minimal, but I've done all the marking!

Scoffslaw · 08/06/2025 13:37

So I posted earlier about using copilot and I asked for an image that was a unique interpretation of my new name!!!!

Scoffslaw · 08/06/2025 13:40

Another go - not surprisingly MN software was a bit unsure about this one

Interesting!!!

I wonder why the AI rejected it the first time? It's just a perfectly normal image of a mumsnetter!

Scoffslaw · 08/06/2025 13:52

Not sure why I have got 3 heads 😂

Just brilliant Boily 😂

Bowednotbroken · 08/06/2025 15:49

I’ve just seen the Woolly Hugs appeal post for squares for a blanket for Swashbuckled, what a lovely idea from someone here. The information from Swashbuckled about Bear is extremely moving. Sadly my frozen shoulder means I can’t knit any more (I wasn’t very accurate anyway!). I’m sorry that I can’t contribute. Worth a look if you haven’t already seen it.

JuneShellChangeHerTune · 08/06/2025 17:23

Someone posting there has offered to do a blue stocking and a galleon.

DeanElderberry · 08/06/2025 19:30

I wouldn't be able to comply with the strict rules on which yarn to use, even if I was a good knitter, so I'll stick with thoughts and prayers.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/06/2025 19:42

I usually do squares with a flower appliquéd on, so that’s what I’m planning to do for Swashy.

EdithStourton · 08/06/2025 20:12

I think I'll need to order some wool...
I'm wondering if I can manage an image of a bridge. Should be possible.

BRENDA!!!!!

How many times! This room does not feature on the tour and will you take the bloody sign down before Banned sees it!!!!

Hahahaa!

I found an old portrait of you, Boily, from an early thread. This is the where you're having a scan and you suddenly realise you are actually MADE out of Tunnock's! Not much has changed 😄

I am also going to try to make one with an appliquéd blue stocking on it.
