After initial screening, applications go through a rigorous assessment by the JKRWF board. Awards are at the discretion of the board, and limited to closely defined legal actions with a clear goal and timespan.

Yes JKR has been hugely savvy in the cases she has helped. Roz vs ERCC, Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife and Scotgov vs FWS. All have been very strategic. I expect that to continue as damage would be done to the long term goal if frivolous cases were lost.

There aren't many 'failed cases' that have been brought by women, and the most cursory glance at the website shows that the fund is for exactly the kind of cases Naomi Cunningham and Ben Cooper take. In other words, those with a solid legal basis.

Women having access to justice on this really gets people's goat and I am fucking here for it ✌

yourhairiswinterfire · 24/05/2025 13:22

to watch all the failed cases from gender critical activists now with a lot of money take up lawsuits against anyone they just dislike.

You can't just take someone to court and sue them because you dislike them, stop being silly. A court wouldn't accept or hear a case on that basis.

If employers, organisations or services don't want to be successfully sued by women for unlawful discrimination, the solution is pretty simple- don't unlawfully discriminate against women. Follow the law and you have nothing to worry about.

She's down to her last £945 million. She would be a billionaire but she gives so much of her money funding her charitable works for women and children (and no dodgy tax evasion) that she dropped under that threshold. She is pretty intelligent and I'm sure that she will stop funding things if they are no longer sustainable, but I think she'll be OK for a while yet. I don't think she spends too much of it on women, wine and snuff (she's a whisky drinker).

Right now is a very good time for some high profile cases 'pour encourager les autres', & also a good time for this fund to emerge, like Athena, fuly formed and armed!.

Twitter comments make it clear it is not new eg:
'isnt it supposed to be confidential';

Many will have known of this fund, http://jkrwf.org, but many will not. Genderists will be doing their worst to muddy the implications of the SC ruling. Precedent-setting cases need swiftly to be brought against genderist employers, unions & other orgs.

We'll see.

I look forward to seeing a repeat of Alison Bailey over and over.

Guess I could get some popcorn and roasted marshmallows (an overused joke Rowling likes to make a lot) to watch all the failed cases from gender critical activists now with a lot of money take up lawsuits against anyone they just dislike.

You can’t just take lawsuits against “people you don’t like”. There has to be an actual
point of law.

Women should be able to fight for our legal rights in a supposedly law-abiding society.
This fund will give a few of us resources to do so in key cases.
If you have a problem with the laws then you’ll have to campaign to get them changed. And stop the childish, petulant whining.

Conxis · 24/05/2025 13:38

The timing on this is perfect, following on from the Times interview and recent disclosure of her wealth in the Rich List.
No-one has any idea whether there’s 50 thousand or 50 million in her fighting fund. So any organisation taken to court by someone supported by the fund can be seriously worried they will run out money first!

Maaate · 24/05/2025 13:46

Jolyon has taken the news as well as expected 🫠

JK Rowling - Women’s Fund
BezMills · 24/05/2025 13:49

He should be delighted!

With his leading legal mind, unsurpassed winning record, and all the topp KCs in his rolodex, JKR's fund will be paying out like a broken puggie to him and his mates.

I can't currently access X. Can you share screenshots?

Does anyone have a link to the Facebook post where this was announced?

"Mind blowing"...

Like a party popper in his case.

CapitalAtRisk · 24/05/2025 14:05

Jolyon is here to save us from ourselves. Thanks for the mansplaining dude!

The fact that her vast wealth and support amongst Far Right extremists - remember Putin speaking out in her support? - also creates great peril for cis women who don't want to conform to gender norms seems to be a matter of complete indifference to her

murasaki · 24/05/2025 14:10

So he was moaning about JK ignoring transmen (not true) when he and his grifting TRA mates have done exactly that until they became politically expedient.

Fox killing kimono wearing hypocritical arse.

do we need to remind this idiot again what ‘Gender Critical’ actually means? Hmm

For JK Rowling "sex-based rights" are not the right to be paid the same as men, to live without sexual violence or coercion, to share the burden of unpaid labour, to escape the motherhood penalty or have domestic abuse taken seriously.

He's treading into libel territory there isn't he?

TheOtherRaven · 24/05/2025 14:18

He gets so cross about women having rights and legal protections.

He’s not a well man is he…..but then having transed two of his daughters as Helen Joyce says, he is in last Japanese soldier territory.

Yes, I dip my toe in the waters on Reddit if I want reminding what an adolescent bunch of whiners we’re up against.

Sadly, though, so many seem to be about 16, abetted, sinisterly, by older men-in-dresses.

But thank you, JKR!

It's always older men. Dresses or not.

The world would be a much better place without such men.

SionnachRuadh · 24/05/2025 14:26

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Jolyon may be an expert in helping Gary Barlow minimise his tax bill, but he doesn't appear to know a lot about the law of defamation.

CapitalAtRisk · 24/05/2025 14:30

He's also recently raised more than £400,000 to fight for trans-identified people, while moaning about her money. The grift goes on...

Twix is comprehensively down both on my laptop and in the app. It's been having problems this week, possibly linked to a mentioned upgrade?
