For JK Rowling "sex-based rights" are not the right to be paid the same as men, to live without sexual violence or coercion, to share the burden of unpaid labour, to escape the motherhood penalty or have domestic abuse taken seriously.

He's treading into libel territory there isn't he?

The jealous, pathetic little man needs to take a look at the Volant Trust website.

What we fund:
Our main area of support is through our Open Grants Programme. However, The Volant Charitable Trust is committed to other work that includes international projects, the support of single parents through Gingerbread and more recently, charities assisting vulnerable groups impacted by the cost of living, particularly women and children. We only accept applications to our Open Grants Programme.

Women
Victims of sexual abuse, rape, domestic violence and those working in the sex industry; care for young mothers and those affected by postnatal depression, isolated and lone parents; community support for black and minority ethnic women and asylum seekers; support services for women prisoners and their families.

Children and young people
Counselling, support services and outreach projects for those who are disadvantaged or deemed to be at risk through neglect, emotional and physical abuse, alcohol or drug misuse.

Poverty and deprivation
Mental health projects for women and children; support for vulnerable families; promotion of healthy eating for families in areas of extreme deprivation.

But of course he doesn't know about any of this, if it doesn't centre men it's of no interest to TRAs like him.

Volant Charitable Trust

The Volant Trust was set up by author J.K. Rowling in 2000 as a grant making trust to help fund charitable causes in Scotland, with an emphasis on women and children’s issues.

Jolyon is sad, sad I tell you, at what a disappointment JKR has turned out to be.

(Funny that they're both "Jo", isn't it?!)

She has caused, and is causing, immense harm. But still, I feel some sadness for her

We were, before she became consumed with this issue, social media friends. We exchanged PMs and she occasionally asked for my help tackling the right wing agitators who now applaud her. She then did much good

https://bsky.app/profile/goodlawproject.org/post/3lpvwfveyb22p

If only dear, silly JKR had listened to JM about what women are.

I feel quite confident that JK Rowling cares about those things more than Jolyon Maugham does.

Patronising prick.

She's much, much smarter than you, Jolyon. I'd like to hear her confirm she'd asked for your advice about anything.

Let me guess. Despite what the theory behind this is, because of the SC ruling JK Rowling wants to encourage lawsuits against any org that supports trans rights?

Are we going to see a tonne of gay bars and gay rights orgs shut down now because most of the gay community is supportive of trans rights?

The gender critical community pretend they are supportive of gay rights but they don't realise (or maybe conveniently ignore) by attacking anyone who supports trans rights they are also hurting the gay community.

No. That is a common TRA tactic. ‘If they come for the fetishistic men violating female spaces, they’ll come for all women, next’.

I do not believe your assertion that ‘most gays support trans’. I’d say most don’t care or are oblivious to any harms that might befall their rights as a result of any conflation of gay and trans. And, it is for the gay community to reject the force teaming of LGB with T. The Lesbians warned them.

Gay bars don’t exclude straights, it’s just that the vast majority of straight people wouldn’t be interested in entering one, and certainly wouldn’t do so in order to validate their own identity while knowingly causing discomfort to the gay people therein. Though, note, TiFs masquerading as twinks are an issue of male gay hook-up sites.

Most people recognise that the affording of the same right to gay people, such as marriage, inheritance etc as heterosexual people doesn’t affect hetero rights, offending only the Christian right wingers; but trans ‘rights’ (demands) very much do infringe the rights of 51% of the population.

I can't find it right now, but didn't JKR say something last year about pledging to personally support any woman taken to court as a result of Scotland's anti-women April Fools' Day ruling?

Yes, on the first day the new law was in place she posted a thread on TwiX saying various transwomen were men etc. Reports to the police happened about hurted feelings etc - following some awkward foot shuffling - the rozzers decided they weren’t going to pursue it.

So JKR said that if they weren’t going to come after her for saying those things they’d better not go after anyone else either. If they did, she said she’d repeat the words herself and then they could both be prosecuted together, thus guaranteeing that no such prosecution of anyone would happen. Genius Grin

Funnily enough, it was when trans-identified women started insisting that gay men were transphobic for not wanting to sleep with them, that they gay men started to pay attention. TRAs always, always overreach.

Gay men didn't care much until then, repeating as rote that TWAW etc, because it didn't affect them. And nobody cared about the lesbians. But when you're being called transphobic for being homosexual...

And also - the utter fucking cheek of lecturing a woman on women's rights when you're a man on whose parental watch two of your three daughters decided they'd rather opt out and pretend to be boys instead.

Fuck OFF.

yourhairiswinterfire · 24/05/2025 15:28

I particularly liked his screenshot of the fund, with ''JKR emerges from the shadows...''

As if her support (vocally and financially) for women's rights was some big secret before now.
As if she needs his or any other bloke's approval before spending her own money on whatever the fuck she wants.

I bet she didn't even get her husband's permission, Jolyon. Just who the hell does this insubordinate witch think she is, eh?! 😤

We'll see.

I look forward to seeing a repeat of Alison Bailey over and over.

Guess I could get some popcorn and roasted marshmallows (an overused joke Rowling likes to make a lot) to watch all the failed cases from gender critical activists now with a lot of money take up lawsuits against anyone they just dislike.

The bitterness just drips from you that JKR continues to support women, despite the footstamping by TRA's. Need do you need a wee biscuit?

Actually, going the roasted marshmallows theme - here's a recipe for you. A nice wee melted marshmallow between two chocolate hobnobs (chocolate side in). The sweetness might counteract yourself.

He is FURIOUS that her fund hasn't been set up as a charidee or a trust, because he can't then get at it with lawfare

https://bsky.app/profile/goodlawproject.org/post/3lpvugqdfl22p

It is a shame. Given his record, might have kept him usefully occupied without materials affecting much of anything for us.

But we all know who closes down venues for people who disobey them don't we so that was a wasted effort.

Oh and have you seen the numbers of gay people complaining about forced teaming? and LGB without the T?

LastTrainsEast · 24/05/2025 15:39

Christinapple · 23/05/2025 23:55

I'm not a man.

Anyway I wonder how much of this fund will be wasted to the wind in failed attempts to sue anyone and anything that says anything in support of trans people.

You may have missed that it's not a crowdfunder at all. J.K. Rowling is paying out of her own pocket.

That's #2

Got anything else?

It's against those who support MALE Supremacy. Nothing to do with 'trans' or trans 'rights'.

Anyone who supports the rights of males to violate female only boundaries is nothing but scum.

FlakyCritic · 24/05/2025 15:42

Christinapple · 23/05/2025 23:51

Sure. JK Rowling has been trash talking Stonewall (a gay rights charity I donate to) for yonks and another figure in the gender critical community spend a million(?) on 2 failed attempts to sue them.

Stonewall ceased being a gay rights charity around 10 years ago. They now actively fight against gay rights. In fact, they believe same sex attraction is sexual racism. You're pretty slow getting the memo.

CaravaggiosCat · 24/05/2025 15:43

I just tried to add the link on my homescreen so I could just gaze upon it from time to time. It installed it as an app and I had an ahh moment like sinking into a warm bath at the end of a long day 😁 .

Yeah, once same-sex marriage was accepted, Stonewall had to figure out how to keep the grift going.

Does JoJo actually get to submit an FOI request to an individual with big pockets given it's not a charity?
