I can't find it right now, but didn't JKR say something last year about pledging to personally support any woman taken to court as a result of Scotland's anti-women April Fools' Day ruling?

Yep, you're right. And then, as before, it has given women in Scotland some comfort to know that there's someone there, backing us, if we find ourselves in Sandie Peggie's, or Roz Anderson's position, or if someone like Ellie Gomersall or Sophie Molly make themselves a nuisance.

JKR has made the world of difference.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 24/05/2025 07:37

JKR literally puts her money where her mouth is. She is the epitome of integrity. Such a rare quality.

teawamutu · 23/05/2025 23:10

I don't think they've noticed yet. I guess all the 'safe spaces' are lacking in people who actually clock what's going on.

We know that IW will actually explode when he finds out 😂

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 24/05/2025 07:39

What a star she is! Thank you JK Rowling Flowers

I'm going to keep on putting money into the same crowdfunders though, until they close or announce they've been funded so there's no need. It's going to take time to apply and I don't know how many the Women's Fund will be able to cover. If I run out of UK/Irish cases I shall also look at some of the international ones, like Sal Grover (Tickle vs Giggle)

@iamsarah do you know about this fund?

NotDarkGothicMama · 24/05/2025 07:40

This is fabulous. All power to the women! Thankyou JKR.

Let me guess. Despite what the theory behind this is, because of the SC ruling JK Rowling wants to encourage lawsuits against any org that supports trans rights?

Are we going to see a tonne of gay bars and gay rights orgs shut down now because most of the gay community is supportive of trans rights?

The gender critical community pretend they are supportive of gay rights but they don't realise (or maybe conveniently ignore) by attacking anyone who supports trans rights they are also hurting the gay community.

Blah blah blah, blah blah blah, blah blah blah.

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 24/05/2025 07:42

Christinapple · 23/05/2025 23:51

Sure. JK Rowling has been trash talking Stonewall (a gay rights charity I donate to) for yonks and another figure in the gender critical community spend a million(?) on 2 failed attempts to sue them.

Blah blah blah, blah blah blah, blah blah blah.

Igmum · 24/05/2025 07:42

Thank you thank you JKR Flowers - and yes my first reaction was to donate too! Guess I’ll stick to the crowdfunders. Sadly there is need for all of us in this space.

ILoveBrum · 23/05/2025 23:54

This is a great idea - I’d buy the tshirt & sweatshirt too!

Maybe Birdy Rose will do it? 🤞

You reckon the owners of these bars would rather go out of business than comply with the law? Odd belief.

It’s not the only odd belief Chris has!

It's likely the money will go towards cases like Sandie Peggie v NHS Fife or Roz Anderson v ERCC. Or go towards court action to make Councils across Scotland, who contine to force school girls to use mixed sex toilets , to comply with the law. Or any number of things which has seen our national institutions continue to drag their heels and hold their hands in horror at 'how complicated' following the law is.

But no, no, you continue with your own beclowning.

Christina forgot to mention that Stonewall were unsuccessfully sued twice by a member of the lesbian community.

That's the wrong kind of gay.

WarriorN · 24/05/2025 08:01

This fund it going to be needed more than ever. We’ve seen how they’re all reacting to the ruling. I don’t trust Labour to be explicit or firm enough- they’re actually relying on court cases.

There will have to be more court cases to
iron out the creases.

Thank-you JKR.

Can we take a guess the first beneficiaries are FWS and a teeny wee nurse fae Fife?

You know it might just need to go out and replace my HP books. Mine were read to death by a young family member. (Never abused just read and handled so much).

Actually maybe both my kids should have their own copies 🤔

I might do this, buy again the HP books and any more JKR output to show support and display proudly at home to give a (subtle) message to visitors

I'm not a man.

Anyway I wonder how much of this fund will be wasted to the wind in failed attempts to sue anyone and anything that says anything in support of trans people.

The words man and woman are meaningless when you use them.

The fund has very strict eligibility criteria and in case you hadn't noticed, JKR is rather smart and has stated that she has no wish to take away anyone's livelihood just because they express legally protected beliefs that she doesn't like, unlike your barmy army.

As for whether the fund wastes tons of cash in spurious lost cases, well, I guess time will tell, won't it?

Actually I would say it’s the opposite. I have always been very supportive of the gay community and their rights but their voices have now been drowned out by the transactivists. I was recently reading a LinkedIn post about a call for colleagues to join a Pride event. All of the comments were supportive of the trans community. Not one single mention of their LGB colleagues, of whom there are many.

It’s very difficult to support causes for the LGB community because they are now classed as one generic LGBQT+ group. As a result I now steer clear which saddens me.

Voices like JKR keep me hopeful than sanity will prevail.

And if we're talking about organisations which waste tons of cash in spurious lost cases, well -

https://thecritic.co.uk/bad-law-project/

Although, Chrissy admits to continuing to donate money to Stonewall of all organisations - throwing the money down the drain would probably achieve more.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 24/05/2025 08:31

What a fantastic initiative from a wonderful woman.
Hopefully a few court cases this will help bring the businesses currently displaying their anti women views back to reality quickly.

anyolddinosaur · 24/05/2025 08:38

This is marvellous - will make all the captured HR departments and unions realise they face an expensive fight if they continue to discriminate.

However a reminder that it doesnt cover men or extend beyond uk and ireland so there is still a role for gardeners e.g. to support people like Stephen Flaherty sacked for exposing Nottm College's secret transition of a child to her mother. Kevin Lister is still having to Fight transgender madness in the education system. The preliminary appeal hearing is on the 29th May 2025. Graham Lineham is being sued by David Paisley. Interim target was met but there is a stretch target that can be found under why I’m asking for your help again. Simon Chambers and others were assaulted and refused service at a pub for supporting women’s rights. Shahrar Ali is still looking for support as Groundhog Day for Green Party Unlawful GC Discrimination.

By setting this up as a private fund JKR does not have to publish accounts or tell anyone what cases she supports - and if she wants to depart from the aims of the fund to support a Brighton father fighting his kids school I guess she can do that too. If not other gardeners can chip in,
