She is phenomenal! Absolutely love her! We are all so lucky to have her!

Pawse · 23/05/2025 23:35

Thank you Jo.

Christinapple · 23/05/2025 23:45

Let me guess. Despite what the theory behind this is, because of the SC ruling JK Rowling wants to encourage lawsuits against any org that supports trans rights?

Are we going to see a tonne of gay bars and gay rights orgs shut down now because most of the gay community is supportive of trans rights?

The gender critical community pretend they are supportive of gay rights but they don't realise (or maybe conveniently ignore) by attacking anyone who supports trans rights they are also hurting the gay community.

April1625 · 23/05/2025 23:46

Absolutely magnificent. I hope it helps all who need it.

Haha. No. People can have mixed sex groups if they wish. And single sex if labelled as such.

Nobody will be shutting down gay bars or gay rights orgs long as they are clear on who they are catering to as per the law that has been in place for years.

Sure. JK Rowling has been trash talking Stonewall (a gay rights charity I donate to) for yonks and another figure in the gender critical community spend a million(?) on 2 failed attempts to sue them.

"What we fund
We fund legal representation for women and organisations who:
Have lost their livelihoods or are facing tribunals because of their expressed beliefs
Are being forced to comply with unreasonable inclusion policies regarding single sex spaces and services, or female-only clubs and events
Are challenging legislation which takes away the freedoms or protections women are entitled to
Don’t have adequate means to bring actions to court or to defend themselves
The JKRWF does not hire a lawyer on your behalf, so you must already have sought legal representation, and have a clear desired outcome to your case."

I want that symbol on a T-shirt, NOW!!

JazzyJelly · 23/05/2025 23:53

What did we ever do to deserve JK Rowling?
I assumed it was a crowdfunder and was going to donate. Is there such a thing as a secular saint?

Bloody ridiculous that it's needed, of course.

Stonewall stopped supporting gay rights years ago as they could see where the grift was moving to. And companies are fleeing from them.

I'm interested, which horse are you riding in the race? I can't see why you can think a fund to support women who've been discriminated against could be a bad thing?

Christinapple · 23/05/2025 23:55

I'm not a man.

Anyway I wonder how much of this fund will be wasted to the wind in failed attempts to sue anyone and anything that says anything in support of trans people.

my bet is £0.00 as that’s not what the fund is for.

SwordOfOmens · 23/05/2025 23:57

I might be needing to look into that. Hopefully not.

If you're a transwoman, then own your chosen identity, which is totally fine, if you're a woman, well then I'm baffled as to why you take this position and would be genuinely interested in an answer.

Also as said above, that's not what the fund is for.

This made me well up a bit.

I wish there was something we could do to express how important she is to us.

What do you do for the woman who has/can buy everything she'd ever want?

It's a nice handwritten card, isn't it?

Edited

I sent a thank you card. It's nothing compared to what she's done and doing, but I hope it gives some idea how grateful I am.

You should be more thoughtful to gay people.
Many gay people support women's rights and gay women are welcome to use women's facilities.
The only people not welcome are men.
Try to be more thoughtful and inclusive.

You really should stop using words you don't understand.

It was the undermining of gay rights by transactivists that influenced the Supreme Court decision.

It was gay organisations that were allowed to intervene.

It was women talking about the complete loss of their gay spaces that made the most sense to the Supreme Court judges.

These women, helped by J. K. Rowling's donation, are the ones who have reinforced gay rights.

Many people who are GC are members of the LGB community

Datun · 24/05/2025 00:12

Given her stance, J. K. Rowling providing a fund like this feels so magically inevitable.

It's not often that you truly have the sense that you can rely on someone and trust them so implicitly.

It's simply quite marvellous.

You reckon the owners of these bars would rather go out of business than comply with the law? Odd belief.
