I'm not a man.

Anyway I wonder how much of this fund will be wasted to the wind in failed attempts to sue anyone and anything that says anything in support of trans people.

Hush now, the grown ups are talking

Good lord, it's a completely private fund, looks like she's just paying out of her own pocket 😲

It needs to be open to donations! (Not because JKR is skint, but because it's fair).

I suspect that this is deliberate.

A completely private fund doesn’t need any sort of charitable registration - people are allowed to spend money on whatever they fancy.

As soon as you take donations from other people there would be more scrutiny. it’s very very clear on the website that it’s a personal fund and not a company or an extension of her charity etc. Which means that you can put complaints into the bin as they arrive.

I suspect that she is trying quite hard to allow this fund to focus on funding things without getting caught up in loads of challenges and complains and complications from tra.

Oooh yes. I mean…. Women are losing so many court cases on this topic aren’t they? I mean, look at the GLP, they have an amazing success rate don’t they? I don’t think it’s the GC contingent in danger of wasting money chasing unwinnable cases do you?

Let me guess. Despite what the theory behind this is, because of the SC ruling JK Rowling wants to encourage lawsuits against any org that supports trans rights?

Are we going to see a tonne of gay bars and gay rights orgs shut down now because most of the gay community is supportive of trans rights?

The gender critical community pretend they are supportive of gay rights but they don't realise (or maybe conveniently ignore) by attacking anyone who supports trans rights they are also hurting the gay community.

Post edited by MNHQ (to redact offensive term).

No, no we are not.

This is a defence fund not an attack fund. If someone is attacked for their sex based relief e.g lose their job then they can apply to the fund to hire legal defence if they cannot afford it themselves. As they have to apply to the fund and it is the funds decision it will only be for certain circumstances and I imagine it would not be available to someone who has done something deserving of being fired I.e graffiti the word tr**ny on someone's work station

Our local pride parade nearly didn't happen this year (a very large national company has just stepped in to save it as it had very little local support this year)

The parade theme being 'protect he Trans Community' with mandatory wearing of the colours of pink and blue may have had something to do with the lack of support.

BettyFilous · 24/05/2025 06:02

I think JKR is keeping this fund simple so she doesn’t have to fund GC cases brought by men. If she accepted donations it might be harder to set that boundary around the cases she wants to support and prioritise.

Stop jumping on lesbian and gay coat tails. Where on earth do you get the idea that gay bars will be closed down?

Amazing news!

JellySaurus · 24/05/2025 06:45

I can't find it right now, but didn't JKR say something last year about pledging to personally support any woman taken to court as a result of Scotland's anti-women April Fools' Day ruling?

As ever, you're all about the men.

We've already seen a tonne of lesbian bars and shut down now because most of the trans 'community' is hostile of women's rights. We've already seen attempts by trans rights organisations to shut down lesbian and gay rights organisations.

I just read this and literally stood up arms in the air and chanted "JK ROWLING" football style, alone in my kitchen.
Much to the confusion of my dogs.

I feel tearful because it's been feeling like there's going to have to be so many challenges to organisations ignoring the law, I've been feeling like it's yet another up hill slog for so many women. Again.

Then this.
We're not alone. JKR has our backs. We can do this.

My hope is someone quickly sues a school and everyone involved in it for failing to safeguard girls.

Thank you JK xx

Are you now saying that organisations cannot be inclusive of women and people with transgender identities at the same time?

Gosh! Hey wims…. Chris is saying the quiet bit out loud again!

Here is the latest!

Rights really are pie! Organisations cannot be supportive of women’s needs and people with transgender identities at the same time!

Thanks for confirming that identity theory is misogynistic!

Yes, I feel quite certain that must be it. The disclaimer on the website that it's neither a charity nor a trust is essentially JKR telling anyone who might be so inclined not to even bother trying anything. They've no more scope to scrutinise her private fund than they do her Sainsbos shop.

I guess for those who want to financially support this, we can indirectly do that by buying/continuing to buy her stuff.

Helleofabore · 24/05/2025 07:13

What an amazing woman she is!

And it is rather depressing that it is needed. Imagine if women and girls didn’t have to fight legally case by case to get our needs prioritised when sex is important to be recognised?

OnyourbarksGSG · 24/05/2025 07:13

This actually made me incredibly emotional. I’ve been very openly GC for 6-7 years or so and I’ve been berated, lost friends, lost my AuDhd 12 yo son to the trans groomers online, had him then secretly groom his younger brother. I’ve faced the public fall out when at 18 my AuDhd son was arrested for illegal images. And through all of this I’ve been told I’m transphobic and hate filled and a monster but I’ve kept on going and sharing my story and the impact it’s had on my family.

This madness needs to stop and it’s going to be stopped by a new wave of brave women holding these companies accountable, being carried forward and supported by the glorious JKR. This is absolutely fantastic.

Well there’s the superstar Dad on here bravely taking on the school in Brighton which his 2 daughters attend.
He is a man but I wonder if his DDs would be eligible for this fund if he has to take it to court?

Thank-you JKR.

Can we take a guess the first beneficiaries are FWS and a teeny wee nurse fae Fife?

You know it might just need to go out and replace my HP books. Mine were read to death by a young family member. (Never abused just read and handled so much).

Actually maybe both my kids should have their own copies 🤔

Hmm good point. But if he's not, the existence of this fund means those of us who'd previously gardened for women bringing cases will be able to channel those funds towards cases where it's a male who wants to protect women's sex based rights. I trust any such cases will be talked about on here so interested parties can put in.

Joanne, Joanne, what a Queen
Of all the writers ever seen!
She lifts us up,
And gives us Hope.
Helps us find a way to cope.
"Courage calls to courage"
I've heard it said,
With this, her crown is on her head!

This year really is getting better and better!

After so much hard work from so many women and girls, this really is great news.

Sandie Peggie’s case has been so painful for Sandie, yet the case has been yet another vital one. I don’t believe that she will lose, however, even if she didn’t win, the impact has been huge.

Then we had FWS judgement.

Now we have the security that JK’s fund delivers. Security to know that other vital cases that will have direct influence will happen.

Seriously?! 🤦‍♀️
