Jolyon is a narcissist so he'll never think he's lost or in the wrong. He'll always, in his own head, be the hero. Whether he wins or loses, either will prove it for him. He'll either win because he's right or he'll lose because he's a persecuted hero championing for the persecuted underclass.

JKR should do whatever will give her satisfaction. It won't make a difference to him either way. He's not capable of seeing anything beyond his colossal ego.

Datun · 26/05/2025 16:57

A KC is recommending the general public break discrimination law?

I know I keep saying it, but this ideology absolutely addles the bloody brain.

SionnachRuadh · 26/05/2025 17:01

I know being a martyr might feed Jolyon's ego, but if he keeps carrying on like this he might get himself disbarred. Surely, if his ego comes into conflict with his need to sustain his lifestyle, something has to give.

I suspect he is delighted about how much money he's raised on the back of promising his fans that he will overturn the Supreme Court ruling.

No doubt he thinks this will run and run.

He was, after all, very explicit, telling them it will take a long time and it will be very expensive

Well we can't say he lacks confidence in the way he's blatantly rinsing a community that's always complaining about being broke.

True, it could be perceived as love bombing, financial abuse and future faking....

Billy big balls scared to step outside of his blue echo chamber

He’s such an embarrassment, the language he uses is SO juvenile, but then the ideology he’s pushing is exactly that.

It’s still a tiny drop in the ocean compared to JKR’s resources, his total crowdfunding is probably equivalent to the loose change she finds down the back of the sofa.

Brings me back to the rest of the 'clever' people, like James O'Brien. Do you feel comfortable being on the same side as this guy, James?

mrshoho · 26/05/2025 18:10

I have thought of reporting a concern to The Bar Standards Board. He is posting this drivel using his position as a KC and the GLP name. He really believes he is above the law.

JustBitetheKnotsOff · 26/05/2025 18:15

"Precipitous toilet policies"?

That's a bit... steep.

murasaki · 26/05/2025 18:16

I think he's not practicing these days, seeing as how that's too much like hard work and not as well paid as grifting, so I suspect they'd say it wasn't any of their business.

I believe he’s been reported numerous times but nothing has happened 🤷🏻‍♀️

FFS. Is Swinney getting his legal advice from Jolyon? These people are halfwits.

I think a dignified silence on the part of JKR would have more effect now - going forward.

It won't end well if it continues on X etc. although I can understand completely that JKR responds as she sees fit, and maybe opens the eyes of others in the process.

Do you think that "dignified silence" would have got women to this point?

Don't you think that "silence" is what they want of us? In fact used to demand, in the days of #nodebate?

CapitalAtRisk · 26/05/2025 18:47

mrshoho · 26/05/2025 13:18

Not sure if this bluesky post from JM has been discussed. Is this not considered as bringing his legal profession into disrepute? Why was Lucy Connolly punished so severely for her tweet but this scroat is untouched? He's goading the public to commit crimes.

And wasn't Bluesky set up to be the alternative nice version of X? I'm not on it and don't intend to either.

He's an absolute loon if he thinks that anyone outside of the blue hair, BlueSky, punch a terf faction of society will do anything at all.

But it will be fun to watch him riding to arms, then realising that there's only about twenty fuckwits behind him...

According to swinney the Scottish government has nothing to fear as they've always obeyed the law 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Setting up a fighting fund and then keeping quiet about it would be a bit silly, wouldn’t it?

Yes. But JKR must be DIGNIFIED! She must NOT enter into any arguments with men who goad her, because woman and woman must be womanly.

I have been keeping an eye on the GLP's fundraiser for the Supreme Court challenge and despite all the publicity in the last weeks it has slowed down considerably. It raised huge sums when it started in the first 10 days.

April 25th launched

May 6th - 361,869
May 16th - 387,292
May 18th - 393,560
May 26th - £406,867

It looks like they have run out of easy money now. It has now been a month since it started and besides a lot of publicity they have done nothing.

People have already complained. However despite his boasting he is no longer actually a barrister. His latest attacks on the rule of law might have got him in trouble.

Jolyon Maugham: "I Used To Be a KC"

His business setup is a very curious one. GLP is a non-profit but not a charity. Jolyon himself is a KC but not a barrister. A cynic might think the whole thing was set up to avoid any meaningful regulation.
