Why didn’t JKR spend her money on rape centres, women’s rights and abortion rights?

Because a) she already does, b) she already does and c) we already have those.

But thanks for popping along to mansplain it all to her, and us. Much obliged, I’m sure Hmm

Oh no, that's embarrassing

Remember the Whittle waffle-bys?

The RMW interventions (mostly seem to be oblique and delivered through the mechanism of MN moderator deletions).

I still don’t know if I’m disappointed that we’ve never been scolded on site, so to speak, by Lia Thomas’ relatives or Harriet Hayes’.

I thought he was a fairly decent cyclist in the male category? Maybe he should focus on that.

Fairly good at university level but not the top, then although decent in the team events.

But, it didn’t seem anywhere near enough to be eligible for British Cycling as a male competitor.

I may be wrong but that was my impression.

Nitter link to the ITV story, in case anyone wants to see the comments (note - the videos won’t play via this link).

There are also pages of hidden comments. They seem to have hidden a few of the more positive comments too. One poster kept repeating their positive comment several times and as they continued to be hidden they were getting more 😡. Probably a new experience for them!

According to Bridges’ Insta, Bridges had sex reassignment surgery last year.

Well that’s very interesting. Wish him well, that is a very difficult surgery for a young person to have and lifetime implications.

Bridges was a Junior GB team member and broke a national 25 mile time trial record.

Injury meant he was dropped by Team GB.

Perhaps he should just try a bit harder.

"The picture of him kissing his boyfriend (taking podiums 1 and 2) while a mum looks after her daughter in 3rd place sums this woman hating movement up"

I'm sure they don't want my sympathy but I feel it nonetheless for anyone driven to surgery of that type so young. And am not too keen on personal remarks about EB.

The whole tipping point that occurred in changing British Cycling's policies etc was that EB was good and a genuine medal prospect in the women's category. I understood that there was a concerted behind the scenes protest by women competitors, plus the authorities were faced with the likely reality of EB publicly beating popular female names. Ie they had to stop nodding through policies that they assumed meant very little and face reality.

Surely implying that JKR has influence of the supreme court is slander.

She should sue the little sulky git.

I'm appalled that an interview is allowed to be so personal. This issue is much wider than JKR. It's really poor for a national TV station to collude in making her the villain.

Edited

Jonathan India Willoughby put a post up on X the other day with I think 5 different claims, one of which was that the location of where the judge who delivered the ruling lives and that it's next door to JKR, who is secretly his BFF.

JK's response was calm and swift, stating that she had never lived in x place, never met the judge and beautifully refuted all his other lies points too.

She's a far classier woman than me, from whom he'd have got more of a FTFO reply.

This is like the man in X who posted that three male judges made the ruling in the Supreme Court - he’d cropped the article and made no mention of the other two judges (both women) so I can only conclude he was doing it deliberately to provoke outrage and earn cash, the utter twat.

She really is epic.

From my recollection, EB was considered a rising star in men's cycling.

Whenever I hear about EB I recall a twitter post, which I think was made by Jean Hatchet. It was a set of photos highlighting how the media deliberately manipulated the public perception of TW athletes.

In interviews and photos EB was presented as vulnerable and feminine. He was never deliberately shown standing next to women. He was pictured showing only the upper body or face and at favourable angles. And then there were photos showing the truth of how massive and male EB is in real life. It really showed you how little you could trust what you were seeing.

Love the phrase "waffle-by" Grin

Would this be the good prof who was on TwiX yesterday suggesting that women's rights campaigners (or "grifters", apparently) were "older women whose relevance had disappeared"?

The internalised misogyny is real.

And India Willioughby uses the offensive term cis-women. IRL that term is only really used by TRAs.

Yep, look at the size of him. The woman is wearing heels as well.

And the picture of him as one of two TW on the podium upthread.

Misogyny and ageism.

In another 10 years TWs will be complaining about how unfair ageism is to them.

Naaa, they'll just identify as transage.

I can't help thinking, and this is just a hunch, that defaming a billionaire and a Supreme Court judge in the same sentence is probably not the smartest idea

SinnerBoy · 24/04/2025 12:22

I agree, but I doubt that either is likely to sue him, what with him being spotless. And probably insane.

my limited understanding is that the previous incarnation of Emily was a really good cyclist, was in the male GB setup for a while, & was cut for reasons that included an injury. the decision to try and qualify as female followed really hot on the heels of this cutting, weeks or at most months later.

Dropped in 2020 I think.

Not sure when the muscling in on women’s events started, but probably not long after that.

They are hilarious

"That's Charles Hawtrey" 😂

I'm now thinking Miss Ire would make a great drag name.
