Why didn’t JKR spend her money on rape centres, women’s rights and abortion rights?

Because a) she already does, b) she already does and c) we already have those.

But thanks for popping along to mansplain it all to her, and us. Much obliged, I’m sure Hmm

This. His parents must be so proud.

As Boiledbeetle has pointed out, Mammy's as mad as her manchild.

2021x · 24/04/2025 04:48

They used "abortion" as an example, so they know what a woman is, as only a woman can experience (inclusively of transmen)

I want to hear from transmen. I want to hear from women who have been sacked because they stated that sex is real, and I want to hear from women in sports who lost out because they declined to participate with a male.

PermanentTemporary · 24/04/2025 06:37

Oddly enough the most anti reactions I have seen are on Linked In. Which I never thought of as a political platform. The male recently ex-chair of my professional organisation (which i have to be a member of or I don't have a job) is on there calling for the current chair and leadership to publish a statement of support for trans and nonbinary people. Which so far the (female) leadership has not done. They could publish a statement of support for the rule of law, but they haven't done that either. Fine with me.

LinkedIn is very odd these days. Time was that it was all “Hey, I’ve got a new job” or posting things related to your industry or a way of connecting to colleagues. Now it seems to be a FB alternative with people posting personal stuff, but to your colleagues, clients etc which strikes me as quite unprofessional. Not to mention that it’s often quite political so it’s virtue signalling as well Hmm

It's always been unbearable but yes it's got a lot more personal and viewpoint stuff on now. I guess it's the 'Take your whole self to work' thing. At least I know not to do that as a result, as they would clearly repost me as a Bad Example. It mainly makes me count the days until retirement (3,991). None of it seems to have much to do with any of the things I see as problems at work.

And a reminder of all the things I'm aware JKR has funded -

Millions to research MS -

Volent.
Helping to alleviate social deprivation primarily across Scotland, particularly supporting women, children and young people at risk.

And there's loads more that I can't think of right now.

But this no mark, male cheat thinks he should be able to dictate what she should spend her money on?

On your cheating bike, pal.

I mean EB is showing how embarrassingly stupid they are. JKR charitable activities are well known and in the public domain. It’s like pigeon fucking chess everytime

still its always good when EB is interviews in person as everyone can see that they are in fact a very large man

TheHereticalOne · 24/04/2025 07:57

Summary:

Women shouldn't be allowed to make too much of their own money.

And if they do, they should spend it as I tell them.

And if they do exactly that, they're still wrong.

Merrymouse · 24/04/2025 08:11

NumberTheory · 23/04/2025 22:46

Not wanting to derail as JKR has spent lots of money on women’s rights, and is a star philanthropist. And Emily Bridges is just being ignorant and nasty in this, pushing misinformation. But think it’s important to point out that we don’t really have abortion rights in most of the UK.

Women don’t get the final say over whether we can have an abortion or not. We are allowed an abortion if we satisfy doctors that we meet fairly restrictive grounds. Otherwise we commit a serious crime.

The grounds have been quite loosely interpreted for the last 30ish years, which makes it a less urgent fight than it might be, but it would be easy for them to be reined in without any changes to legislation.

Agree.

He is definitely parroting American rhetoric, and I’m not sure why he thinks JKR should be campaigning on it now, but there is nothing to stop abortion policy or legislation changing.

Access to the MAP was initially unintentionally limited during the pandemic.

However, abortion is a sex based right and Using Bridge’s logic abortion only affects a minority of people who could be male or female. There is mo way to connect abortion to any class of people or analyse the wider impact of reducing access to abortion.

SidewaysOtter · 24/04/2025 08:13

Women shouldn't be allowed to make too much of their own money.

I bet he wouldn’t feel like that if he had made the big time in cycling and was pulling in large sponsorship fees.

Bitter, much?

He started his trans journey at peak time around 2020, again I believe a lot of young people were online then being groomed ( In 2021/22, there were over 5,000 referrals into the GIDS, a substantial increase from just under 250 in 2011/12. Mostly young women).
Wiki says he started his hormone therapy in 2021. Looking at this video I do wonder if he is still on his trans journey and if he will continue.
so much damage has been done by young men proclaiming themselves to be women around this period and expecting us all to just budge over. I believe that it will be 5-10 years before this generation stops with this insanity. At least treatment for trans young people will be more measured and considered He’s very typical of all the younger ‘trans women are women’ males in the brigade.

MikeRafone · 24/04/2025 08:26

Rowling fell from the Forbes billionaire list due to charity donations and paying tax

rowling is not a billionaire, which shows the ignorance of Bridges

MrsOvertonsWindow · 24/04/2025 08:27

An interesting decision to platform him - especially given the intellectual inadequcy of his views - and to stream his views with any level of fact checking . No time now but I believe there may be some powerful individuals at ITV news with a vested interest in promoting trans issues?

Why isn't EB campaigning for better pay , better profile, and more sponsorship in biological women's sports..? I'm pretty sure I read only 1% of sponsorship deals go to actual female athletes (not Dylan Mulvaney modelling sports bras for Nike Hmm)

Agree with pp they , um , came across , um, like a moody teenager....

SidewaysOtter · 23/04/2025 22:32

I suspect that’s what happens when you parrot American rhetoric. Abortion rights are an issue there, not here. Later in the clip he equated JKR with Trump/the MAGA movement.

Edited

Why the hell are itv giving this numpty a platform??? Where's the interviews with Susan smith, Trina Budge or Marion Calder? Or any with ordinary women who had been self excluding from places like rape crisis centres or refuges as there had been no guarantees it would be free of men? The media are really pissing me off right now. Not everything is about sad men in frocks. This is a big deal for 50% of the population.

Phallic drift alright. When I learned filming techniques etc there was also the "male gaze" where everything on camera was done through a male perspective. I like the term phallic drift too. FWR is always good at helping me learn new things!

Or maybe someone at ITV is a bit terfy and this is another round of Operation Let Them Speak.

Or working undercover on Operation #LetThemSpeak.
In the blue corner we have… Joyce, Forstater, Smith. Up against them is …… Bridges.

FiveBarGate · 24/04/2025 08:50

Surely implying that JKR has influence of the supreme court is slander.

She should sue the little sulky git.

I'm appalled that an interview is allowed to be so personal. This issue is much wider than JKR. It's really poor for a national TV station to collude in making her the villain.

Paul Brand is head of ITV News.

Very supportive of trans issues but I suspect he knows exactly what a woman is when using a surrogate to produce a child for him.

Dear lord, it's almost not right even interviewing that person. So many issues.

What leaps out to me, about all this, is there's little wonder that people like Emily, his family, and allies, are so hellbent on him playing in women's sport. Because he's got fuck all hope of doing anything else.

I don't remember his mum talking on here, I don't think I was involved in those conversations. But she must've been seriously relieved that he was getting somewhere, doing something.

It goes without saying that women's goals and achievements aren't bloody candy to be handed out as a consolation price to crap athletes.

But I don't often hear these men speak, and now I'm wondering, if it truly is the only bloody thing they can do. Not qualified in anything else, can't string a sentence together, couldn't hold down a job, but cheat at women's sport? Piece of piss.

I thought he was a fairly decent cyclist in the male category? Maybe he should focus on that.

I agree, I find a lot of it quite inappropriate. Some of it is probably legally or reputationally dodgy for employers.

Nitter link to the ITV story, in case anyone wants to see the comments (note - the videos won’t play via this link).

Yes a previous poster said that too.

I still think, judging by that interview, there is an element of it's this or nothing.

Datun · 24/04/2025 09:19

On another note, I hadn't even noticed it was ITV. I can't believe that. I thought it was some obscure Internet channel

According to Bridges’ Insta, Bridges had sex reassignment surgery last year.
